Nice find j76! As well as you too snapper1982! I went out to set a trail cam today for coyotes to get a look at a big one in my hunting grounds. There is still around a foot of snow in the woods up there.. I was hoping to see a moose antler laying around in there but no luck yet.. With all the snow in the woods the turkeys will not be going for at least another week. This should help make my season up here a great one!

Welcome Adirondac Al!!! Glad to have ya on the team! Good luck!
Wow Snapper!! Thats a lot of antlers! Either ya really bust yer butt to get em or you got wayy more bucks down there then we do here. I'm guessin its both. What do ya do with all those sheds ya find? I know they can be worth some money.

Hi guys I'm checking in.. I live in upstate NY and our season opens for the month of May. I hunt with a 12 ga mossberg pump and I'm allowed two tags. I live in the Lake George area and hunt strictly public land. I hope to bag a nice eastern tom to help our team in the contest. Goodluck everyone and looking forward to seeing some nice birds here on the forum and in the woods.

Thanks guys!
Can't wait to get out there and take the 12 ga. for a walk. It's great to see that some of you are able to hunt already.
Goodluck in the morning Mottz and the rest of the guys that are heading out.

Well I'm heading out with the boy. Its gonna be impossible to keep him sitting still. He is so pumped. But thats a good thing!! I haven't been to my hunting ground for a few months so I hope they have moved back in so this is more a scouting trip. But I'm still gonna try and see if I have any luck.

supposedly we have less deer than michigan so i dont know about numbers. i do work for them but honestly it is more about experience and knowing the deer. i can usually rule out non or minimally productive areas without even looking them over which saves time and increases my chances/odds of finding antlers. i have a method/system i use no matter where i am looking and it serves me very well.

That was a quicker hunt than I wanted it to be. Took my son out and as we were walking in I heard some gobbles. So changed plans and started in a different direction to try and intercept them. Got the blind up and I was setting up the decoys I seen 2 longbeards in a field across the creek. Took a little bit but I finally got them answering every one of my calls but I could not get them to come out of the bottom. I seen them working away from us so I wanted to try and skirt around to set-up in front of them but my son wouldn't have it. He knew his friends were outside playing so he just had to come home. I know there are some in there now so I'll just have to get back out alone. But I did come home with 1 tick already. Gonna be a long season for them.

Sweet Mottz! Sounds like ya got a bead on some, good deal! I salute ya for not forcin the kid to go after em, that can be hard to do sometimes but is definitely the right thing to do. Very cool ya got to take him out and have a little action, bet those first few gobbles had, ya both fired up! When ya gonna be able to get back after em?

Welcome to the team Adirondak.

Nice job Mottz, you found them, now you just have to get them in range.

Nice find Snapper, is that somewhere you have access to hunt? Looks like some nice deer in there.

I have a 1 day hunt on a WMA on Tuesday, went out this morning and located a couple of birds. So hopefully I can get them in range.
