RE: Team 14 Thread
I am in for Bullshooter also for captain
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Ok, we are "Final Strut". I'll let em know. I sent bullshooter a pm asking if he would be our cap'n, I dont want to appoint somebody cap'n who isnt up for it. I think he'd be the best one though.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Okay "Final Strut" you talked me into it.
Now can someone tell me what I am needing to do ??? I will do my best but , there will be a time in April that I will not be near the computer for two weeks.I will be hunting in Mo. from April 21st through May 4th. If someone could stepin for me while I am gone that would be great. Let me know The Bullshooter |
RE: Team 14 Thread
I will be glad to step in for a couple of weeks, just remind me whenever you leave for Missouri. Your duties as captain will be submitting each harvested turkey's info to the administrators.........and to keep morale high!:D Thanks for stepping up, and I'll be happy to take over for those two weeks. You are now Captain Bullshooter of Final Strut. Nothin left but to bust some heads!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Okay boys. It is done.
I have sent the requires pm's.Let the games begin. |
RE: Team 14 Thread

RE: Team 14 Thread
Saw 6 strutters here yesterday in Pa. We have had some warm weather, but it looks like we are going to get dumped on this weekend.
Do we have anyone here taking a youth hunter in any of the youth season hunts?? It is a great way to spend time with your kids.. Okay who is going to draw first blood for our team? My first hunt is not until the 23 of April. When do you all get to start? |
RE: Team 14 Thread
My first day is a week from Saturday, March 15th. Last year I gota pretty nicebirdopening day, maybe I can do it again. I don't have any kids and my crazy sister has yet to make me an uncle :D, so no youth hunt for me. I'm gonna be there this weekend, but no gun or calls......just gonna go listen for a little while.Usually on any given morning towards the beginning and middle of the season, in the one area I hunt most every year I'll hear anywhere from 3 to 7 or 8 different gobblers hammering off. Hopefully they wont let me down this year.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
I don't get to start until April 30 here in RI, and CT doesn't start until May 5. The way its looking, I may have to pass on MA. I never hunted there, but was going to try to this year. I know someone there with a blueberry farm who says the turkeys devistate his crops...
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
April 23rd here also. I am itching to get one. I need to go get some scouting time in. We haven't any nice days when I can go.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Wow sorry I have not ben here much. I am a State Trooper and Starting Fri night through today I have done nothing but run the the road from accident to accident.
Well I did sneak out on a few back roads and saw just a few longberads. LOL I was out there looking for bad guys. I have had just about enough of this snow...... |
RE: Team 14 Thread
Oh man you guys have huntnma. Im bummed now. Sorry huntnma I didnt connect in the fall contest. :( It was a rough fall season. Firelt we have room for ya in April out in Missouri... Germ are you videoing any hunts???
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Bull where are you a trooper? As my names states I'm a Lt on the fire department and a paramedic in Indiana. I really appreciate our PD officers, you catch a lot of grief from the good guys and the bad ones. We ride each other here so much, but I always tell them they are welcome any day I am on to eat with us or on the weekends we do a big brunch and to come join in, after all we are the same team, just a different shirt and gun, axe, mace, fire exstingusher and so on.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
I can't get started until May 1st here in NY. Too late of a start if you ask me. They are gobbling already. I had to go steelhead fishing this past weekend in the Erie tribs to get my fix after talking about turkey and not being able to hunt for a few months!!!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Hey fellas! I just got added from the alternate list. My name is Dave and I'll be doing my hunting in mostly SC and some in NC. April 1st is the opener in SC. My family has a 52 acre farm that I'll be hunting. This will be my first turkey season but I've been doing my homework (hopefully) and I look forward to the challenge! I'll be happy to listen to any advice ya'll can give me!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Welcome Dave! Good luck on your first season, this is truly an addicting sport! I'm not exactly an expert but if you have any questions, just ask. Looks like we've got a good team to help you out!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
I can't wait!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Welcome aboard Dave, glad to have ya with us!!! Indiana hunting here, I have 4-5 locations this season, 60 acre, 30 acres, 40 acres and I added a 499 acre horse farm (About 50/50 make up), but I have to share it with 3 others.... so 100+ per guy. 90% of my previous season were on public land.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
woohoo.... new names added....this is my last morning of scouting......i know where they are, just got to make sure they're still there.....and i need a prayer or two to actually get one of them ,lol......
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
I'll be heading down to SC this weekend and I'm going to try and get by the farm and do some scouting/calling/looking around!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
NC- a word of advice. Don't call when you scout. You might educate the birds and make it harder for you to call them in when the game is on. A little caw or two on a crow call might get them to answer you, but keep scouting low-key. you don't wanna pressure those birds until its crunch time!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
When I said I calling I should have clarified what I meant. I was talking crow calls. Yeah, I don't want to call them in and me and a bird standing there looking at each other like...."duh, what are you doing?" Busted!!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
Alright men, I went and opened my big mouth on the Smack talk thread :D.........only to give us a little extra motivation.......... as if we needed it! We got this, but we got some work to do to back it up. Give it your best and we'll pull it off!

RE: Team 14 Thread
Big storm came a lot sooner than the genius weather man said it would last night, so I'm gonna give it a little longer before I head out. Thats good reason to always check the weather the minute before you start to leave. I would've ranright into that storm andprobably have hadto wait in the truck for 30 minutes when I got there for the rain to stop! Mr. Meteoroligist said it would come through around 8 or 9 this morning, pshhh. Do yalls weather forecasters suck as bad as ours do in Alabama??? I tell you what these idiots down here dont know what to tell us every day. I thought thats what they studied in college?? I'd rather trust my dad gum dog togive me an accurateforecast than the weather folks.:DAight now that I've killed enough time with this post and my breakfast, I'm headin out. Wish me luck guys!!!

RE: Team 14 Thread
We're on the board fellas! I got one at 10:00 on the dot this morning. I'll try to get the pictures on here tonight. 9" paintbrush beard, inch long spurs, and weighed 19.4 lbs. Not huge, but its a turkey. He was missing about 6 or 7 tail feathers, kinda upsetting that he wont go on the wall, but it's all good. After chasing one hard gobbling tom around for an hour or two,I finally gave up on him and moved to the food plots. No luck there either. I walked back and I wasputtin all my stuff in thetruck to get ready to drive back up to another spot, and I walked out on the road to lookin the fieldsone last time and saw something come popping outta the woods into the fields about 200 yardsaway. I saw it shining so I got the binoculars and saw that it was a pretty nice tom, and he wasslowly walking up the road towards me. I didnt wanna stay right by the truck b/cI know he wouldnt have come that far, so I made my way upa hillinto the woods to ease towards him with some cover. I got set up about 25 yards off the roadbetween two hillsand startin cluckin and purrin and scratchin around. He gobbled one time pretty hard and walked right past me on the road......It was around this time thathe fell over due to severe head trauma ;) I'm goin to a different spot tomorrow where I had a tom gobble at least 50 times one freezin cold morning this past deer season. Bunch of birds there too, maybeI can get a bigger one. I know this iskillin you guys that you cant get in the woods, yall should all drive down and we'll have us a turkey massacre!!!! :D We're on the board!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
WTG SouthernStrut! I'm dyin to get into the woods!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
WTG Partner!!! Great start to the season here. When Can Arrowmaster and I get down there :). If He is driving, I'll buy him a cheese burger at least....
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
All right Southern, Congrats on the first blood for team 14. Send me your score via PM and I will get you entered.
I still have about 30 ays left and the wait is killing me ... |
RE: Team 14 Thread
Hey southern, you asked about weather forcasters...Up here we have had 5 or 6 storms in Indiana that they predicted the "White Death" for all of us and every time we got a very small amount of snow. Now the time they told us the storm was going to be a light ice storm, we got a lot of ice and very little snow....If I was a accurate as they are I'd be fired. It has been a bad season up here for them. I hope they tell me the turkey hunting will be terrible, cause I then know I am having a great season!!!!
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
well guys i came pretty danged close to scoring for us on the openning day. had a nice bird come in, 20+ pounds and about a 9-10in. beard. unfortunately he came in hard to my right side. sometimes it sucks being right-handed. i would've tried shooting lefty had he not spotted me. oh well. i have like 5 days straight i'm going to get to hunt starting wednesday so we'll see how it goes.
|
RE: Team 14 Thread
WTG southern!! Atta boy!!
