Superstrutter checking in. I'll be hunting my property in Louisiana and south Texas. I filmed 6 longbeards yesterday on my property, so it looks like it may be a good season.

I'm just hunting MO again this year. Atleast I have Jr on my team this year so my hard work won't go to another team.lol I am taking him to TX for the youth season and then hunt MO. We have a couple
of dandy double beards that will make for a good score.

It does seem that way but no complaints here. Few past teammates on here. Arjuna, superstrutter and I even think DTC Jr was a teammate a couple years back. Good to see you guys again! Waiting for these arctic temps to get out of here so I can get outside and enjoy it. Really stinks when all my hobbies include being outside. Good luck to all and lets knock the champs out of their shrine this year!

We have a few days, but I guess we need to come up with a captain and a team name. I've been captain many times, so if anyone else doesn't want it I can do it again. Doesn't matter though. If anyone else wants to be captain, that's fine. Lets start giving some team name suggestions. I can pm no-shows in a few days. Looks like we have a pretty good team.

I am checking in and fully ready to bag a 35 pound limb hanger with a 24 inch paint brush, and 5 inch spurs!! ;)

Just a few pics from this morning. Four of the six longbeards showed up. The only pic I could get all four in is a little blurry. The first group that came through was 9 jakes. About 30 minutes later 22 hens came by. In another 30 minutes the four longbeards came in. All were mature birds with each having inch long or longer spurs. No gobbling yet and they are just starting to look a little interested in the hens. They are strutting for each other more than they are for the hens, but that will all change in a week or two. It should be on for opening weekend (March 22nd).

All but three have checked in. I will pm the three and hopefully we'll have a complete team. When does everyone's season open? Mine opens March 22 in Louisiana and I'll be hunting in Texas March 27-30.

I don't get to hunt until April 21st, DTC Jr gets to hunt TX March 29 and 30 for their youth season and then I believe youth season in MO is April 5 and 6.

My strategy is to get them in range and shoot!!!!lol

Season here starts the 25th but I won't get out probably til the 30th because me being a committee member on our local NWTF chapter, has our banquet on the 28th so I know it will not be an early morning on the 29th.:rolleye0011: DTC, I'm going to go a little more dramatic this year on my hunts. I'm going to them! And before anyone starts flippin me crap, I just want to say its AWESOME! I did this last year with a gun but this year, I want to try with the bow. Just me, my weapon and a tailfan. Quick story from last year. I was switching to a mid morning spot, carrying my pretty boy down an access road when a group of birds came out, seen me and took off. I dropped the decoy and grabbed the fan, paralleled them in a ditch and spotted them in a cut field. I flipped the fan in front of myself and started walking to them. They all looked at me and came towards me. I laid on the ground twisting the fan in front of me til a jake came to 5 yards in front of me. I dropped the fan and said boo. He jumped back and tom came running in. Shot him at about 15 yards coming right at me. Holy crap, what a rush!! Now, I am on private land and am aware of the dangers of it but I am going to do it again!! Maybe if I can get someone to go with me, I can get it video taped.

Would love to BDB, but there aren't any merriams close to my area that I know of. I'd like one of those myself.

I am going be hunting in Texas April 20 them go up to Nebraska back home to Ill.
