I should've had one yesterday. Got to my spot nice and early, no decoys and my tailfan fell out on the way in. Didn't have time to go look for it because they were gobbling early. Had a tom and 3 hens in the field 100+ yards away, then a hen pitched down right in front of me and went to them as they worked towards me. All in due time I had 2 of the hens 5 yards in front of me, the tom 20 yards to my no shoot side. Hens didn't like something, turned around and went back taking the tom with them. If I had the tailfan, I would've been in the field and I know he would've charged me. My dumb luck. And the bad thing is, his fan was as bright of white as I have ever seen on this property. Would've been my 1st Merriam. ! more day to get out and I hope its a good one.

Don't fail us now Mottz! Team 5 is trash talkin us. Teach them a lesson.

Believe me Zim, I want to help out the team all I can but now my 1st goal is to do something about this worst turkey season I have ever had. Shooting and missing is 1 thing but not even getting a shot is really ticking me off!!

If he's not coming in to your decoys, set up where he typically enters/exits the timber and go decoy-less. Worked for me.:fighting0007:

ok Zim heres the deal. We started the trash talking thread so others like yourself would not spam another teams thread. That's why its there. I never do this in the public forum and usually do it through a pm, but seeing how you have no respect for the contest or your team, you have been given a warning and any further outbursts will be dealt with through a ban. So you want it real there it is.

The contest staff go above and beyond to make sure the contest runs as smooth as possible. We take this upon ourselves from our daily life to put on this contest. We do have family and we also turkey hunt. The scores will be updated as soon as we can.

Zim, why are you dissing your own team? I for one have a hell of a sense of humor.

Well my season was definitely a crap that needs flushed and forgotten! Plenty of birds there but they hit the neighboring properties and just wouldn't come my way. I've asked to hunt these properties and they told me, if you can shoot it from the fence then shoot. So nicely they are saying stay the hell out. But it is what it is and I feel disappointed about it but there is next year and deer season is coming up so at least that's a good future. Sorry Captain that I couldn't get it done but maybe the missing members will pop in with some birds yet today and bail me out!

With all due respect. This is not meant to be disrespectful to anyone. This is meant to be totally constructive feedback. There were only 6 teams. Each team has a thread specifically dedicated to harvest scores only. How often were the standings posted from day one? Twice? Here it is going down to the wire and the standings have not been updated for 17 days! I never even would have chimed in on the 5 thread if I wasn't just trying to check scores! What is the fun competing when nobody knows who has how many birds? There are a lot of retired guys on here with time. I have a full time job, 1/3rd of which time is spent in hotels on the road. Yet I would be glad to volunteer my time to update these next time. I could easily update every 3 days.........Easily. 6 teams? Repeat, this is simply constructive criticism.

ok....no monster birds here, but here are two more from last weekend, and my season is OVAH for spring 2014!

This was an "OOPS".... Locked onto the Tom and dropped the jake behind him as well with one shot.... now I am tagged out in Nebraska and Kansas.

Same ole Mossberg 12 gauge... Every turkey in my life has fallen to this gun, and if you look back at photos, every single hunt I was wearing the same hat, shirt, and face net :) Just a LITTLE superstitious!!!

I know I have shot a lot of birds this season, and unfortunately one Jake... I have spread the love over several properties, and two states. I make sure that flock management is front of mind to ensure good hunting in the future.
