Hey Shawn my name is Shane from IL. Glad to make a team this year looking forward to meeting everyone . I will be leaving to elk hunt in Co next week so I will be gone for 2 weeks so don't think I went missing.

iamyourhuckleberry 08-28-2011 08:19 PM

Hey Shane and Shawn,

My name is Will, Colorado will always be home. Shawn, where are you elk hunting-which unit? You picked an awesome year to visit Colorado. Antler growth on both the deer and elk is the best I've ever seen! Our season started yesterday, but I was in Wyoming chasing speed goats. I'll hit the woods for a muley tomorrow, after work. I really want a big racked deer this year, and I do not have much time to get it done! I'm leaving for Australia on the 2nd of September and will not be back until the 18th. I have some pretty awesome hunts planned in different states this year. Something with a nice set of antlers is going down!

11 has always been my favorite number!

ManofTheFall 08-28-2011 08:53 PM

Sounds like you guys will be very busy this year. Good luck on your upcoming hunts and good luck on knocking down a giant!!!!!

justhuntitall 08-29-2011 05:30 PM

Hi Will . I will be hunting elk in the Flattops around Yampa. Have been going there for quite a few years and arrowed my biggest last year a 6x6 scored 321 not bad for a over the counter Diy yourself hunt. I think I used all my luck up last year so this years antler growth probably wont help me lol.

Cant miss it for nothing being in the high country in Sept there is nothing else like it. Everyone should should go at least once.

miss near miss 08-29-2011 05:31 PM

Miss Near Miss checking in and here to win. I'm Kendra from IL and we are going to beat my husbands team 5!! (or I will NEVER hear the end of it!)

louie6014 08-30-2011 03:11 AM

86. Checked in! First time on the contest. Names Matt, live in Charlotte NC. Got some good deer in my area. I hunt a small 20 acre water shed thats connected to a powerline that feeds to the interstate. Got about 6 resident does, and a resident 6pt right now on camera. Hope to fill out a whole tag this year (6) allowed 2 bucks. Only my second year hunting. Also plan on hunting near a bean field on a 100 acre lease at my folks house. Last year I had several bucks mid dec show up on my camera, so the deer along the interstate funnel down here, to feed on acorns, no tellin what I might see

iamyourhuckleberry 08-30-2011 04:49 AM

Greetings Kendra and Matt,

Let's do our best to win this thing!

I went out last night after work (our season opened this past Saturday). I gave a fork horned muley and a doe a pass. I'll be back at it tonight.

dubcee 08-30-2011 09:40 AM

Hi all my names Cole. Looking forward to teaming up with you all and hopefully winning the contest this year! I got a few 140" bucks on my cams so far ones an 11 point the other is a 9 point. I also have a 130" ten running around so I am pretty pumped for this year! Hopefully I can contribute!

ManofTheFall 08-30-2011 10:00 AM

Looks like we have 6 checked in so far. Does anyone want to start throwing out any team names? How about Buck Slayers?

louie6014 08-30-2011 07:09 PM

Buck Butchers, Quarry Killers, Pope n Young Pillagers, Rut raiders, rack raiders... dunno.. I can make stuff up all day

iamyourhuckleberry 08-30-2011 08:40 PM

Welcome aboard Cole. I look forward to hearing about your adventures! It sounds like you'll be chasing a few dandies!

I like the one word team names, like Team___________ (fill in the blank). To me it say, "BOOM!" This is who we are and this is what we are going to do!

If I had to choose one word for the team it would be:

EXORBITANT

The word's definition: exceeding the customary or appropriate limits in intensity, quality, amount, and/or size.

Isn't this what we plan on doing?

I also like the name, "a11-in". It implies, as a dedicated/united group, we are going for broke!

GMMAT 08-31-2011 03:57 AM

Your vocabluary is exorbitant.

iamyourhuckleberry 08-31-2011 08:37 PM

Hey Jeff,

I will call you before I leave for Australia. How are you buddy?

little indian 09-02-2011 11:26 AM

dubcee 09-02-2011 04:09 PM

season starts in two weeks! im pumped! when does all your seasons start?

GMMAT 09-03-2011 04:04 PM

Busy as hell, Wilbur. I'm working all this weekend.

Looking forward to your call.

ManofTheFall 09-04-2011 11:08 PM

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. My computer is down. Right now I am on at work. We need to come up with a team captain and a team name.

Antler Eater 09-06-2011 06:57 AM

Antler Eater reporting for duty! I have been in Colorado chasing elk for a week. Didn't get to pull the string back on a bull, but I will be leaving again on the 13th for a couple of weeks perhaps the rut will warm things up by then. Hey Will, what can you tell me about unit 521?

I have been so busy I don't know much about the bucks in my area. Hopefully I will get one. Can't wait to see everyone's successes...Go team 11!

henson59 09-06-2011 10:58 AM

Hey guys my name is Joe I am from IL. I bow hunt in Champaign county and I shotgun hunt down in Wayne county IL. this is my first year in the contest and I am pretty pumped about it.
As far as team names are concerned I like Team Carnage (mainly because I shoot a Ross Carnage).

ManofTheFall 09-06-2011 10:16 PM

I like Team Carnage. I use the Rage 2 blade and it certainly creates alot of carnage.

henson59 09-07-2011 05:22 AM

I will actually be shooting the rage 2 blades for the first time this year.I used to shoot Muzzy Phantoms but all of my friends are going crazy about the rages so I figured why not give it a try.
If some more team members would check back I believe "Team Carnage" is the front runner for team name.

ManofTheFall 09-07-2011 08:15 PM

So far "Team Carnage" has 2 votes. Anyone else wnat to cast their vote?

You're too modest AE - I know you've got a nice one tied to a tree, feeding it corn until the season opens, lol. Good luck this season!

little indian 09-12-2011 12:01 PM

Team Carnage is fine by me.

henson59 09-13-2011 11:53 AM

So whats harvest looking like for everybody, will the corn be out by the time opening day roles around for most of you? Here in central IL Harvest is in full swing and looks like the corn fields that suround the timber I hunt will be out come Oct. 1

louie6014 09-13-2011 12:31 PM

Hell I just got some rage 2 blade mechinacal, I woulda already been in the woods last week to hunt down my only 6pt on camera, but! I decided to shoot some broad heads, and my bow wasnt tuned :( I could shoot field pts in a pie tin at 50 yrds, but put a fixed blade on there, and I was 10" high at 20 yrds. Got it fixed, and switched from muzzys to slick tricks (grouping 1-2" 20-30 yrds) I destoryed two of my new st's... so got some rage mechicanals. Practice tip flys awsome, even though I went back and paper tuned/ walk back tuned, and broad head tuned, I still want some extra precision :)

henson59 09-13-2011 02:31 PM

Hey Louie, I am shooting RAGE 2 blades for the first time this year and from what I can tell in practice I like them alot. Now I just hope they do what they are supposed to do and help me put that big buck on the ground. I am going to check my trail cam for the first time its been there 3 weeks. I am hoping for some good pictures. I will post them if they are worth it.

louie6014 09-13-2011 07:40 PM

Shot a doe tonight, with the rage, dropped her like a stone, shot placement wasnt the best cause I shot in a window between trees, and I thought she was stopping, but took two steps. Ide really like to get a better rib cage shot on one, and see the dammage. The cut this thing made on that doe was impressive tho... I was pretty skeptical about these heads, but they work. O ring system is my only gripe..

ManofTheFall 09-13-2011 09:14 PM

Every area I hunt this year has soybeans in. I suspect they will be harvested around the 3rd week of October. Good luck to all. I have 10 more days and I will be in a stand!!!!!

ManofTheFall 09-13-2011 09:16 PM

We already have guys hunting and putting does down. "Team Carnage" has three votes. Any others?

henson59 09-14-2011 05:39 AM

I think we go with "Team Carnage" the contest has started so we better get moving! I can't wait for Oct. 1st to get here.

Too bad does dont count... Its going to be a while before I target some better bucks, prolly the rut (late oct here). Either way I'll still be cookin some back straps next week :)

ManofTheFall 09-14-2011 10:27 PM

That's 4 votes for "Team Carnage" Anyone up for being captain? Nominations? Let's get er done!!!!!

henson59 09-15-2011 05:35 AM

I am puting my vote in for "manofthefall" He seems to be on top of things and would make a great captain.

henson59 09-15-2011 05:43 AM

Also since you started the thread can you go ahead and change the name to team carnage or whatever you decide. I have noticed other teams are doing this as well

ManofTheFall 09-15-2011 08:22 PM

I am willing to be captain if no one objects. Also it looks like "Team Carnage" may be a go. Any objections let me know ASAP!!!!!

henson59 09-16-2011 08:27 AM

Well I had my first minor set back of the year. This stand I call the ladder (because its the only ladder stand I have on this property) turned out to be a bust. last year I saw a a couple real nice bucks while in this stand so I decided to put my 1 trail cam up by this stand to see what it has going on. I checked it yesterday and it had zero pictures on it. I really thought this was a good funnel the deer might be using but its not! So I moved the camera to another possible funnel the deer might be using to get down to this corn field in this bottoms area.
I know the deer are around because I saw a large doe and fawn on the edge of the corn field when I went to check the camera and the land owner has seen 2 large bucks on the property. I really need this corn to come down so I can get a better idea of whats going on around my timber.

dubcee 09-17-2011 04:26 AM

The Captain and team name choices sound good to me! My season starts today... to bad I have to work :-(. Ill be out monday! good luck all
