I'm here.... I'll be hunting primarily public land in Western Oklahoma. The season gets started here Oct 1 and goes thru Jan 15 so plenty of time to hopefully get something down.. Good Luck Team.

We need to see about getting the contest threads up at the top and by thierself like it normally is to avoid alot of confusion.

Mottz 08-27-2011 04:46 PM

Mottz here. I will be hunting some private ground here in South Central Nebraska. Sept 15th can not get here soon enough. I have a couple good bucks that I am very hopeful on seeing in the field.

Hey kelly, good to see ya again!

Arjuna 08-27-2011 06:05 PM

Arjuna here! I will be hunting in AL and some in Florida. Season starts Oct 15 in AL and runs to the end of February for FL. Good luck guys, I will try to post some pics from the trail cameras I put out yesterday.

Centauri 08-27-2011 08:21 PM

Centauri here. Looks like i'll be hunting private farmland here in western WI.

Brent B 08-28-2011 05:04 AM

Well it looks like we've got a pretty strong team so far. Here is a big ten pointer i'm gonna be lookin for this fall. Dad found his sheds this spring and we've also got a trail cam video of him. I think he was right around 130" last year.

Brent B 08-28-2011 05:11 AM

Here's another one I got pics of last fall.

Mottz 08-28-2011 06:15 AM

Heres a few that I'm going to be watching for.

Theres a couple pics of the same deer but I like the pics.

Mottz 08-28-2011 12:50 PM

My 2 bucks from todays check.

kellyguinn 08-28-2011 02:45 PM

Looks like they still have the velvet stickin. What time do they normally shed there in your neck of the woods.

Mottz 08-28-2011 03:06 PM

Should be losing the velvet anytime now. Someone on another forum I'm on has 1 that doesn't have any. I know I wanna see these guys without it.

fshafly2 08-28-2011 03:30 PM

Checking in. I'll be hunting private, public and the local Navy Base here in So MD. The Navy Base may open ahead of the 15 Sept opener for the rest of MD. Nice bucks there Mottz!

Centauri 08-28-2011 05:52 PM

I'll be putting my trail cam out on my hunting land Tuesday so maybe I can have some good pics for all of you. Should have done it sooner...

Robow45 08-29-2011 08:13 AM

Checking in! I’ll be hunting a few different counties in Michigan plus I’ll be heading down to Southern Ohio 3 or 4 times this year.

phish500 08-29-2011 10:31 AM

Phish500 Checking in! NC opener is less than 2 weeks out!!

Brent B 08-29-2011 03:56 PM

Robow where in southern ohio will you be heading. I got a couple small spots here in allen county near lima, ohio.

Mottz 08-29-2011 06:46 PM

Looks like this team is getting ready to go. Only waiting on 2 guys. Thats not bad. Hope they show up soon. Have a few things to say here. 1st, Brent since you started this thread I'm going to vote you as Captain. You've been doing great so far and I'd like to see you continue!

2nd, I think everyone should start throwing some names out there. Only one I can think of so far is The Great Eights. Since we are team 8. Give me time though, I'm usually pretty crafty when it comes to names.

3rd, and I'm sure kelly will back me on this is no matter whats going on through the season, lets keep the team chatter goin. Even if its about nothing. Getting to know a little bit about each other is what this is all about. During the spring turkey contest I was with kelly and we were constantly talking and our thread blew everyone away with replies. It made it alot of fun keeping our name at the top.

And 4th, everyone have a SAFE year!! And have fun out there and don't be afraid to share your hunting successes and even your disappointing hunts.

Arjuna 08-29-2011 07:37 PM

Great post, Mottz.

I put my cameras out on Friday. I wore my snakeboots and shorts...forgot to use bug spray...now I have about two dozen bright red chigger welts. Oh, well...that's bowhunting!

Arjuna 08-29-2011 07:39 PM

If we are only waiting on 2 guys then right now, we are the Eight Great Eights or 8GR88's.

South of Dayton. It's our first time hunting Ohio. We've got a few big boys on our t-cams. Can't wait to get down there!

fshafly2 08-30-2011 04:26 AM

G8-VIII's or G8-8's would work, but still time to work on names.

I've been busy planting food plots on my farm and on the local Navy Base, so my scouting has been minimal save checking out trail cams. Irene dumped 4+" of needed rain on the plots, no erosion-fortunately, and the plots will be looking good this fall.

I've been getting some pics of nice bucks on the trail cams, but mostly at night. I'll post some pics in the near future. No lack of deer here in So MD - the State limit is 36 deer for the bow-ML-shotgun seasons. I don't gun hunt for deer, but I'll be taking the bow out for all seasons.

Nice thats not too far from me. I'm here at lima going to the University of Northwestern Ohio. Right now i'm taking tech classes in there ag and diesel program, but I plan on staying a little longer and getting a degree in agribusiness. So far I've been here a year so i'm still trying to meet people in the area to gain more access to hunting ground. I found a 100 acre woods that they do a lottery draw on that i'm planning on putting my name in for next year. Other than that I found 2 small places to hunt here both are surrounded by corn. At home in Indiana I live on a Purdue University crop research farm with about 100 acres of woods to choose from.

Centauri 08-30-2011 07:35 AM

I'll be putting my trail cam out on the farmland I'm hunting today. Always seen lots of deer in the fields so I think I got a pretty good chance.

x's 2.....especially about the being safe and having fun!!

If it wasn't for the chat and comradery during the turkey contest there is no way I would have pushed myself as hard as I did to get that silly little bird..lol But man it was alot of fun :)

Arjuna 08-30-2011 08:57 PM

fshafly2, is that your wirehaired dachshund? I had one, but i had to give him to a friend due to some marital struggles we were having about him and the kids, shoes, and his excitable tinkling problem. He was a great dog and I had fun training him. He found a gutshot deer for a friend last year. We'll see how he does this year. Tell me about yours...if the profile pic is your dog....

fshafly2 08-31-2011 02:32 AM

Arjuna
Yes, Ruby is my wirehair dachshund, my "second" love. I know about the excited p'ng, and fortunately Ruby grew out of it - she'll be turning 3yrs this Dec. She came from a long line of deer trackers, and easily passed her UBT-1 test (United Blood Trackers) last summer. Ruby recovered 14/28 deer last fall, but a few of those were "confidence builders". She can be a great tracker at times - one trail was 1.2 miles and a few others were near 1000yds. The only grief last year was she would sometimes want to follow a non-wounded deer in the group instead of the wounded deer, go figure (a training issue). She's shown more maturity in her training tracks this summer, so I have my hopes.

Here's a buck she recovered last year after the original search had been abandoned:

Brent B 08-31-2011 05:39 AM

I sent pm's to both of the fellas that havent checked in yet hopefully they show up soon.

I need to get me a dog like that. I don't think my english walker hound is that smart lol.

Robow45 08-31-2011 05:57 AM

Guess I better move my camera!.......I think?

Good idea!

We had high hopes for that spot but we got more pics of the owner’s dog than we did deer.

fshafly2 09-01-2011 07:36 AM

Nice doe, robow! She'll probably attract some bucks, lol.

Arjuna 09-01-2011 07:20 PM

What moon phase is that?...it's not really full or new, is it?

Mottz 09-01-2011 07:23 PM

Well just to get to know everyone a little better, I thought I'd throw up a pic of myself with my last years rifle buck. Anyone else wanna share who we are all talking to?

Mottz 09-01-2011 07:26 PM

Oh, and I thought I'd show you what the wife bought me for my birthday last month. What can I say, I'm obsessed!! Had to get my kids' names on there!

Brent B 09-02-2011 02:03 AM
