Robow45 09-02-2011 04:13 AM

Wow! fsh and Brent those are some good bucks!! Looks like we might do alright!

FYI-You won't catch me here on the weekends to much. I like to stay away from the pc when I can.

Also I'm good with any name you guys come up with.

Centauri 09-02-2011 01:39 PM

Not the biggest deer, but its my first and only one. Hopefully gonna change it this season. I'm good with our team name too.

Brent B 09-02-2011 04:26 PM

Looks like a nice first deer and the one you'll always remember. Not to many ppl shoot there first one with a bow congrats.

Alright, another smart*@^# on here. I can see you and me are gonna get along just fine:happy0001: Looks like a good bunch of guys on here. Should be a good season out this year!

Good 1st deer Centauri! I went 2 years without a deer with my bow. Hit a couple but never had any recovery. Feel bad about that but I've learned how to settle down a little and I have got a few since then. I'm going to put all my faith in ya. This year is your year!! Just enjoy!!

Here's a few of my biggest both with muzzleloader and the 6 was my bow from last year. Believe it or not the 6 dressed at 160 lbs and scored 106". I was very happy with it. I had to use a cross bow last year cause I had carple tunnel but have had since had the surgery so hopefully I can get back out with compound this year.

fshafly2 09-03-2011 02:26 AM

Centauri - the first deer with a bow is the hardest, congrats on getting it done - I too remember my first, a spike that is one of my most memorable deer.

Nice bucks Kelly.

How heavy was that bear Robow? I have a few friends that are leaving for Maine today, I told them to bring me back a bear steak, lol.

I know this is just for fun but anyone noticed that some of the other teams have more than 10 members. Team 3 has 13. Gonna be hard to compete with that. Have to break out the bondo and extend the tines lol...

lol if all 8 of us get a buck I think we'll be alright.

Mottz 09-03-2011 12:29 PM

Guess we all could get a doe also. We still have time to see if the other 2 check in and if not maybe we will get a couple replacements.

fshafly2 09-03-2011 02:32 PM

Hopefully the two guys will show up before too long...

Here are a few pics of bucks I got on a trail cam - I don't know if they're all the same buck or not. I had a bachelor group of 6 racked bucks hanging around my soybeans, 3 of them were "shooters". One buck I've seen has a very nice spread (>24"). I know of a 11 and 12 ptr on other places I hunt, both those bucks are very nice. I have my hopes this season...

Mottz 09-03-2011 03:46 PM

To me it looks like the same buck, but man he's a bruiser! Good luck on him!!

Mottz 09-04-2011 02:22 PM

Checked my cams today and what a disappointment. Alot of does and a few smaller bucks, but my big boys didn't show. We had a hot spell most of the week in the upper 90's but now we are forecasted for low 70's this week. Hope that gets them up and around because in 13 days, I'm going to be in a treestand!!

Someone needs to pick a name so we can get it up there. I kinda like GR8 VIII's. But its up to everyone else.

Arjuna 09-04-2011 07:00 PM

GR8 VIII's is good to me....

We r in the middle of tropical storm Lee....no telling what will be on my camera's when it is done...new lease...don't know the place that well, ...YET.

Centauri 09-04-2011 08:40 PM

1st and 3rd pictures look the same, 2nd looks different though. Checked my cam the other day, still no bucks.

Arjuna 09-05-2011 05:57 AM

I think he's the same buck, as well, but at least u know where to find him.

Brent B 09-05-2011 07:25 AM

The team name sounds good to me.

I'm goin to put up some stands today here in Ohio. It feels like fall outside!!!

I went home saturday thinking I was gonna put up stands but it was 95 degrees out so I passed for a cooler weekend. Also it's been so dry at home it was kinda hard to pick up trails the ground is as hard as a rock. Hopefully we get another shower or too to help the beans finish out. I heard on the west side of Indiana they started cutting beans, but around here I don't think harvest will start til October since everything was planted so late.

We didn’t have a scale at Bear camp so I never weighed it. He was no monster but too not bad. I think the best part was getting the kill on video.

Ok...here is what I look like and a picture of my impala shot in the Kalahari desert in July.

Mottz 09-06-2011 06:30 PM

So is the guy holding the gun your guide?:poke: Just kidding! Thats a great trophy and that would be awesome to experience a trip like that. Chances are I'll never be able to go there. Is that the only animal you shot or did you get anything else. I need stories, you sparked my interest!!

RackLuster 09-07-2011 01:38 AM

hey guys, i got added as an alt. just wanted to say hi.

i'll be bowhunting in mn and wisconsin this year. hoping to repeat last year where i got a 7pt and 8pt bowhunting and a 9pt rifle hunting in wisconsin.

a couple decent bucks hanging around my property in MN but wisconsin is looking way more promising. i guess we'll see...

fshafly2 09-07-2011 01:49 AM

Wlcm aboard Rackluster! We're still looking for team name suggestions, so feel free to contribute.

Arjuna - must have been an awesome trip!

-fsh

RackLuster 09-07-2011 03:33 AM

Centauri - where do you hunt in wisconsin? I hunt between grantsburg and siren. i have permission to hunt 2 pretty good properties. i also hunt my own 40 by lake mille lacs. this year i'll be jumping back and forth every weekend until i get a buck. the gas bill is going to be ugly!!!

Robow45 09-07-2011 03:46 AM

Welcome Rackluster!

Looks like a fun trip Arjuna. I bet the impala looks pretty good on your wall!

Mottz 09-07-2011 03:55 AM

Welcome RackLuster! Good to have you joining in!

Robow45 09-07-2011 10:29 AM

I hunt south of Chetek. I don't think I'm that far away from Siren.

No, we can start anytime, but the captain(Brent) needs to either change, or edit the team thread name or contact the contest mods with a PM. We are set as a team so I think we will go from here. Hopefully one of the 2 missing guys will show or they will give us another.

kellyguinn 09-07-2011 06:31 PM

Arjuna - Thats a heck if an Impalla. Its always been a dream to get over there and one of these days hopefully the wife and I will be.

Looks like the team is takin shape. We are just a few weeks from the kick off to the season here but this 90 degree weather is gonna have go away for it to really matter much. A couple of real good cold fronts ought to get things back on track though!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys....the Africa mounts aren't back yet...I just went in July....

I am going to check the cameras on Friday. However, with tropical storm Lee over the area for about 5 days, I don't know what the pics will look like.

Here is another pic from Africa. It's a Springbok.

Mottz 09-08-2011 03:17 PM

1 week til the season opener. I have to work so that means I will have to wait til Saturday or maybe Sunday depending on the wind forecast.

j76 09-08-2011 05:09 PM

:D:DJust signed up as an alternate and was checkin the team threads.... this looks like the winning team to me!!! Would love to get on this one, i see you have a couple heavey hitters here! any one have some pull in this contest and can get me on team 8???!!! :confused0024:

fshafly2 09-08-2011 05:56 PM

Monsoons here now guys. Irene dumped 4.25" ~10 days ago, and now Lee has produced >6" so far, with another 3" predicted tonight. I'm thinking of getting my canoe and tying it up to my porch, lol. But fortunately, my house is on high ground.

-fsh

Mottz 09-08-2011 06:24 PM

Well fsha, if you look on the bright side, you won't have to water your yard for awhile:D

j76, I think we'd be happy to have you on here, but as far as having any pull in getting you here, I'm pretty sure I don't have any. Let us know where you end up though.

Hmm….. I don’t know if we need another guy from Michigan :)

fshafly2 09-09-2011 04:30 AM

I saw that zink expanded all the teams to 11 members. He has yet to substitute the no-shows with alternates.
