lets get things rolling Team 2!

My name is Jake, im living/hunting in St. Lawrence County, New York. Im finishing up school so i have plenty of down time to hunt nearly every day either afternoon or morning hunts. Im hoping to take one down for the team, ill be rifle hunting in farm country in an area that holds good deer so hopefully i can produce!

Canuck_2 09-03-2010 08:33 PM

Jack/Canuck_2 checking in.

Our team has a real good representation from all over the continent here; cool. Best of luck to all my teammates.

Our regulations are a little complicated, but basically I can shoot 1 mule deer buck and 1 whitetail buck in this 'region'. But if I travel to another region in the province, I can take number 3. It looks like I will be going to the coast a little later for a blacktail hunt. Otherwise it will be mainly whitetails here locally.

These are the rifle bucks I've taken 3 of the last 5 years; the other 2 years I got bucks with archery gear.

Live it up! Doug

Did my last morning hunt today until after I get back from the provincial seniors games (archery) about Sept 20. I will also be away from our team thread until my return.

This morning I watched 2 4-pts (one may have been a 4x5) for about an hour having numerous sparring matches. Problem is I was 375 yards away and had no hope of putting a stalk on them. But fun to watch, even through binos.

So when you say 4 pointer... you really mean 4x4? I know some areas go by one side. Just to let ya know, I go by both sides :) Soooo if I say 8 pointer, I dont mean 16 lol. Just 4 on each side.

Also are we gonna have a team name or just Team 2? :barmy:

Canuck_2 09-12-2010 06:52 PM

Bristowboy, yup, our 4-pts have 4 per side.:s4:

Raining like stink today and I elected stay in the luxury of bed. Dion't really want to shoot anything and have to deal with it now, since I'm heading out in a couple days. You guys pick a nice name for the team while I'm gone.

2 Deadly,
Mass Destruction,
Droptine Dummies

phish500 09-14-2010 06:17 AM

Phish 500 signing in! Bow open here, but no gun until Nov 6. We'll see what happens. Just got a new 1100 acre lease and looks to be very promising.

remington788 09-14-2010 06:47 AM

Just checking in ...best of luck everyone

bristowboy_20 09-21-2010 09:24 AM

8 out of 10 team members. :) I just wanted to add... it doesnt matter if we are 100% active on this thread... what matters is the score card! lol Lets get some animals down this year and get a good score. good luck to all

Boogeyman24 09-22-2010 05:09 PM

Sorry about the delay but I'm here! My name is Matt and I'll be hunting in WI, gun season doesn't start until the weekend before Thanksgiving. I went bow hunting for opener last weekend and saw a few good bucks, so the year was started off right. I'm hoping to have some good trail cam pics so I'll try to post em up when I get them. Good luck everyone!!!

Canuck_2 10-01-2010 10:43 PM

Welcome Boogeyman.

I've been out relatively few times lately, what with fighting a nasty cold and all. However, there's been a little action and I've passed up a few smaller bucks. Lots of time left.

It's off to Alberta tomorrow, so I'll be away from the team thread again. Hope to do some goose hunting. See you in 10 days or so.

bristowboy_20 10-05-2010 08:12 AM

we need a team captain. And they need to check into the team captain thread

Canuck_2 10-12-2010 06:39 PM

I was away for 10 days and got home on Sunday. Finally did a little hunting this morning and evening. On the morning hunt, I skulked after a group of 4 bucks with rifle in hand but decided none was big enough to take at this point. This evening I bowhunted in a different area and had a doe at 51 yards, too far for me to be shooting. I think I'll go back to the place that had the bucks in the morning and see if any new ones show up.

bristowboy_20 10-13-2010 08:34 AM

good luck. I havent seen a single buck out in the woods. A lot of does though. Ill start seeing antlers a little closer to the rut though.

Whitetailaddict13 10-18-2010 06:30 AM

muzzleloader opened this last saturday so from here on out its gun season for me boys.

Canuck_2 10-19-2010 08:07 PM

The deer hunting here is wallowing in the October doldrums. One of my two favorite areas has had the heck beat out of it with the first general open season for does in many years. The ones that are left are living under rocks during daylight hours. In my other area, the coyotes are having conventions and the deer have vacated. I think I'll have to spend a week or so sorting them out and hope the deer return for the rut.

Boogeyman24 10-27-2010 06:06 PM

hey guys, still doing some bowhunting while waiting for gun to open nov 20th. have seen quite a few bucks, but nothing taken in bow season. hoping to catch up with one from the trail cameras when opener rolls around! here are some recent pics:

Anyone else have pictures??

Canuck_2 11-06-2010 08:49 PM

Boogeyman, those are great bucks and great pictures of them. Best I have on my trail cam so far is a spike.:confused0024:

trueagkid 11-07-2010 05:03 PM

saw a fork and a weird buck with a four point side and a long beam with only one brow tine on the other side. Probably eighteen inches wide, but missing those other two points. Also missed an eight point that was probably nine years old.

Canuck_2 11-07-2010 11:15 PM

Hey gang. Got some fine eating for the family and points for the team. This buck was with a group of does/fawns and another buck. Spotted them from about 1/2 mile and pulled a sneak to within 100 yards. Always nice to get one when it has no clue you're around.

I couldn't figure out how to activate the self timer, so I had to go with the old arm's-length trick. Do I get a prize for dorkiest picture of the year?

Boogeyman24 11-10-2010 01:46 PM

Great buck Canuck! great start to get the team on the board - spotting him from that far away and getting close enough for a shot is awesome, especially within 100 yards!

Congrats, and good luck to the rest of the team!!

jrbsr 11-12-2010 07:38 AM

I need for you to pick a team captain.

Holy geez, our team is sailing without a captain? OK, if nobody else is jumping at it, I'll take the position by default. Will let jrbsr know by posting on his team captain thread.

Boogeyman24 11-23-2010 11:17 AM

well last weekend was opener, saw 11 total opening morning but none that afternoon or sunday morning. was doing drives during the day, but no shooting for me. going to be hunting hard tomorrow-saturday, and hopefully sunday as well so hopefully i'll come back with something. good luck to everyone out there!

bristowboy_20 11-23-2010 03:38 PM

nothing here yet. seen nice ones.. no shot. i have until Sunday. Then 5 days after that muzzleloader season. 2 weeks of that. Hope I score

Canuck_2 11-27-2010 09:33 AM

Hey everyone. I just sent a pm to all our team members and hope that everyone shows up here again. We don't seem to be having a whole lot of luck, but we're all interested in hearing about everybody's season anyway. Good luck to all; let's get the updates rolling in.

BTW, I'm in suspension mode right now. Late archery opens on Dec 1 and I can then go after a doe.

trueagkid 11-27-2010 10:58 AM

I am here. Shot a seven point, so I will try to have pics and a score up on this page soon.

Boogeyman24 11-28-2010 03:05 PM

i'm here... WI gun season ended today and no bucks for me. did have a shot at a nice 10pt (possibly one of the wide ones from my trail cam pics) but couldn't get him. had 1 guy in our party get a awesome 13pt w/ almost a 2nd/3rd main beam, i'll try to get pictures up soon.

might be getting out some late season with a bow but not 100%... good luck to everyone out there!!

Canuck_2 11-28-2010 03:39 PM

Thanks for the updates, guys. Bristow, did you get the doe OK? true. looking forward to seeing your buck. Boogey, I hope you do get out for some archery. Continued good luck everyone.

ghost doe. no blood, no body. nothing. sigh.

But I did get a buck this evening. Just a 5 pointer though. he'll score around 40 i think. But I can still get a doe too.

Canuck_2 12-04-2010 07:27 PM

Nice going on the buck, Bristowboy. :woot: Picture?

I got a doe this evening, but it was with my bow and so doesn't count for our team score. And that's it for hunting for me.
