Looking like we have a great lineup so far! I'll be hunting in about two weeks! Have a couple nice 150-160s class spotted but just put up a camera on some new ground and there are rumors of a big one running around there. I'll also be hunting in southern Iowa and Manitoba this fall.:rock::barmy::barmy:

Hows about the

Heartbreakers for a name?

I'm good with any thou, I just want to tip something over!!

RonPenner 08-20-2010 01:39 PM

Looks like we're off to a slow start, need a few more team members to check in.
Anyone have a good name for the team?
Post some trail cam pics of what you't watching if you have.
I've had a few smaller bucks on my cams, am hoping this guys from last year after the season makes an appearance, would help to contribute to the team score.

RonPenner 08-20-2010 01:42 PM

here's a couple that have been hanging around

gri22ly 08-20-2010 07:13 PM

Good luck team!

RonPenner 08-23-2010 09:39 AM

Looking good!!!!

I got a few more pics from my cams yesterday, still no giants but lots of bucks.

RackLuster 08-24-2010 08:32 PM

nice looking bucks guys. i'll post some pictures as soon as i get around to it. mine aren't huge. there's a pretty nice 11pt and a nice 9pt hanging around. i'd be pretty damn happy with either. last year i got the 9pt i was after so i'm trying to repeat.

it should be a fun year. i have more food plots planted then ever before, they are growing great! And, I think my stands are placed better this year. i can't wait!!!

LifexIsxHunting 08-25-2010 08:34 AM

I really wish I had my trail cam again, it was stolen last fall and i don't have the money right now to get a new one. I wish I new what was running around on our property. Maybe i'll squeeze out a little cash the next couple weeks for one.

5575gb 08-31-2010 08:49 PM

Season opens in a couple days, hoping one of my sons can get one on the opener! Deer were really moving early this afternoon when I was out glassing.

3stone 09-03-2010 06:26 AM

3stone checking in. I hunt Texas, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. TX and OK opens Oct. 1st, WI opens Sept 18. Probably won't be in WI till early October. I shot a 152 2/8 4x4 11 pts last year. Looking forward to beating that this year.

3stone 09-03-2010 06:27 AM

Sat for the first time last night, great night with pleanty of deer movement, just didn't see Mr Right, gonna sit on bear stand tonight, back to deer stand later in the week

RJPOUTDOORS 09-12-2010 10:11 PM

Son harvested his 1st doe with archery equipment last Sunday so I will start hunting. Have a week off in November & December to do nothing but hunt.

RonPenner 09-15-2010 07:17 AM

Hey congrats to your son RJP!!

what's doing out there everyone?? I've sat twice, was hoping to take a buck in velvet but looks like that's not going to happen, many have shed the velvet and I find myself on an airplane more than in a tree stand at the moment, will keep you posted.
Ron

RackLuster 09-15-2010 09:25 AM

Howdy.

Guys – I think we have to pick a team name and captain here pretty soon. I’m ok w/ any name. I think someone mentioned the heartbreakers. That works for me. what do you all think?

My season starts Saturday. I usually try to get a doe in September and then focus on getting a buck. There’s 4 pretty decent bucks hanging around. I’ll try to post some pictures of them tonight.

I’ll be spending the entire weekend up at my land w/ a buddy. Hopefully we’ll be able to manage at least a doe. We have the last 2 years anyway.

By the way, it looks like only the bolded names have checked in (unless i missed some??):

Heartbreakers sounds good to me. So far nothing to report as far as harvest. I have seen a couple up and comers but no good 4 + year olds yet. Here is a photo of sons doe from a few weeks ago.

RackLuster 09-19-2010 03:12 PM

I wish my standards were 4+ year olds. i'd have never have seen a 'shooter' if that were my standards. 2 1/2 yr olds for me.

season opened at 6:25 yesterday. By 8:45 I had a doe on the ground. first deer i've ever shot out of ground blind.

Now i have until the end of the year to find a buck. haven't had a pic of a good buck in a couple weeks though.

good luck to everyone!

RackLuster 09-20-2010 05:02 PM

Here's some of the bucks hanging around my woods. these aren't all different deer obviously.

RackLuster 09-26-2010 06:00 PM

well guys, we're on the board. i shot a 7 point (only 6 scoreable) tonight. i'll probably regret shooting it but i haven't gotten a picture of a real shooter in over a month and now I can go hunt in wisconsin. he tempted me for too long. kind of nice to be done early because i'm having surgery next week and that was going to slow me down for a while anyway.

i'll post pictures later. he's really not going to score too much for the contest though.

RackLuster 09-26-2010 08:22 PM

well, here's the story...

about 45 minutes after getting into the stand i noticed a doe and fawn only 20 yards away eating acorns (that oak was dropping acorns constantly!). the minute they got out of sight i noticed this guy coming from a different direction. i knew he was going to give me a shot. i really debated a lot about whether to shoot him or not. eventually, my trigger finger made the decision for me :). i'm pretty much tagged out in mn, i'm going to see if a buddy will bring me to wisconsin with him. i'll get him scored for the contest tomorrow.

good luck the rest of the season everyone.

RonPenner 09-27-2010 10:26 AM

Hey Congrats RackLuster!!!!!!

RackLuster 09-27-2010 01:53 PM

thanks. i'm really surprised i pulled the trigger. even my wife said "wow, i'm surprised you shot it" when i opened the tail gate on the truck :)

it's not like i'm a trophy hunter that gets a big buck every year. i usually just go for 2.5 yr old 8pts or better, even if it means eating my tag. so, to shoot a 1.5 yr old 8 days into the season caught even me by surprise. he just sat there at 5 yards eating acorns, just taunting me! I couldn't resist no matter how hard i tried :)

HNI_Christine 10-03-2010 09:57 AM

Are you guys still missing a couple of team members?

RackLuster 10-03-2010 04:31 PM

yes. we're missing two.

HNI_Christine 10-03-2010 10:32 PM

Your two alternates are:
-tcicon
-ModestBuck

RJPOUTDOORS 10-04-2010 12:39 AM

congrats rackluster, maybe this will help get the rest of us fired up. Went this morning coyotas busted up a couple of bucks that where headed my way. Last time she will do that stuck a arrow in her today.

ModestBuck 10-04-2010 03:50 AM

Checking in. I live in Virginia hunting in North Carolina.

ModestBuck 10-04-2010 04:01 AM

Who is team captain, team name, team logo?
I know I am just an alternate but heartbreakers doesn't sound too manly to me.
Lucky 13
Non-Typicals
Buck Stoppers

ModestBuck 10-04-2010 08:00 AM

Here is my suggestion for Team Logo and Name.

Bow Reapers

Kansas Hunter Club 10-04-2010 09:47 AM

logo and team name sound great.

Kansas Hunter Club 10-04-2010 09:47 AM

rackluster, congrats. all those inches add up, it's the tag soup that doesn't do much.
