Team 1 members are:

Post here with your pictures and your kill count. The leader, whom we will select later, will then post our totals in the main thread. Post a reply, let us know you are here and ready to dominate. Also, we need to come up with a team name. Does anyone have photoshop or know how to edit images? I would like to have an avatar for our team. Good luck, Happy Hunts.

My name is Garrett I am 20 and live in Central Kansas. I will just go ahead and admit it I am addicted to waterfowl hunting. We mostly get geese but we through in a few ducks for good measure. I plan on doing a ton of hunting this fall. I only have class one day a week and pretty much make my own schedule for work. Our duck season opens up on Halloween our goose season opens up then too but they close it down for five days and open it back up for good that first weekend of Nov. The geese that we get are mostly get are lesser Canadas, Whitefronts, and Snows. And we get a pretty good mixed bag on ducks with most of them being mallards.

I just got photoshop I have not messed around with it yet in fact I havent even installed it yet. I might be able to come up with and avatar but dont hold me to it.

Here are a few pictures from past hunting seasons!

Very nice. Looks like your a good addition to the team. We just need our other two to realize this is up.

BTW, my name is Tim. I am 21 and live just south of the Twin Cities (minneapolis and st. paul) in MN.

ksfowler 10-18-2009 08:54 AM

I sent PM's to the other two.

Thelen87 10-19-2009 04:19 AM

Thanks. Hopefully they have been too busy to come on here due to slaughtering the birds.

Bandhunter 10-19-2009 02:33 PM

contest

Yeah I am here. I have been busy hunting deer. Our waterfowl season doesn't start until late November. I do have some results from hunting in Canada but have not had the time to post some pics. I will get them up sometime soon.
We mostly hunt on farm pond where I work. There are a lot of local birds but they get spooky after a few days and then we are dependent on the weather up north to bring in some migrators. Our season hasn't been as productive the last couple of years due to the warmer winters.

Good Luck to all this year.

Rick

Thelen87 10-20-2009 03:40 AM

Welcome Rick. Good to have you aboard.

I had posted this in the original sticky but decided I would put it in here as well. Our group shot these on opener weekend (Oct. 3 - 4).
Of those I shot 2 mallards and the hen pintail. Her close up is my avatar. :)

I'm on the right side. On the left is my buddy chad.

livinadream 10-20-2009 12:56 PM

hey guys sorry it took me so long are yall ready to fulfill your quackhead addictions? i am our season doesnt open until nov 7, but i live in southeast tx. arguably the best waterfowl huntin in the state. we kill lots of birds. i will try to get yall some pics up this evening, i am at work right now and cant post pics. anyway i am 25 and dont do much more than hunt and work so hopefully i can contribute more than my part to the team. cant wait to teach these other teams "the proper techniques of bustin the hell outta some ducks" -- TK and Mike

ksfowler 10-20-2009 03:33 PM

Great we are all here. I am thinking about going tomorrow morning but we will see. There is a wetland north of were I live that currently has 6000 ducks on it and several thousand geese. But there are also several thousand people that hunt it every weekend. I am trying to decide if it is worth it or not.

livinadream 10-20-2009 04:21 PM

i think if you can go tomorrow you will definately beat the weekend crowd, just depends on if they sit opposite side of you with no one around to help you move them around

livinadream 10-20-2009 04:24 PM

here are a few of our early teal hunts from this year

here is a goose hunt

hopefully more to come

Thelen87 10-21-2009 03:57 AM

Welcome aboard. Glad to see everyone here. Do we want to come up with a team name?

livinadream 10-21-2009 09:34 AM

i think we should im up for any suggestions

ksfowler 10-21-2009 11:58 AM

Well I did not make it out do to the thunderstorms and such.

It looks like you had a very good teal season livinadream. Ours was pretty much nonexistent. The teal got here early and left a week or two before season opened. Our goose season opens up on the 31st and I found a good field with a few big honkers in it. hopefully they stick around for the next week and a half.

livinadream 10-22-2009 02:54 AM

yeah we had a lot of birds and still do. looking forward to the big bird season. on another note do you deer hunt ksfowler? my favorite week of the year is the rifle opener in ks, man ya'll grow some huge deer. sorry, back to waterfowlin

ksfowler 10-23-2009 04:32 AM

Yea I do a little deer hunting. It is with a bow though. I really like the first week of rifle season as well. Every one is deer hunting and waterfowl hunters become sparse.

Canada 2009

This fall a group of us went up to Manitoba for the opening week of non-resident goose hunting. This is my 5th year going. We had our best day ever on Monday: 32 canadas, 6 snows and 46 ducks. My total was 4 geese and 5 ducks. The next day was our worst ever of a total of 2 birds. We didn't even hunt Wednesday morning because we couldn't get permission to hunt the only fields that we found holding any birds. They had only about 20% of the crops planted this spring because of weather and most all the fields had already been plowed for the winter. We did have a very successful duck hunt that evening though. Over 60 ducks with my total being a limit of 8. Thursday morning we split up hunting on opposite sides of the road. As luck would have it, our side didn't fare too well with only 2 birds and the other side limited out in less than half hour. Location, location, location. That eveining we went back to the duck hunting honey hole but we ended up with only 32 and my total of 3. Family emergency and we ended up leaving first thing the next morning and didn't get to hunt. The first picture is of the first day's hunt carnage.(I am the old guy on the far left). The second pic is from the Wednesday evening duck hunt. I didn't know they took this pic and I wasn't there. The goose hunting really sucked because of lack of birds, but the duck hunting was the best we have ever had up there. My Total overall was 4 geese and 16 ducks for 20 pts.

livinadream 10-26-2009 05:28 PM

so when did the contest start? just wondering if my 2 week teal season will count towards it?

livinadream 10-30-2009 04:34 PM

alright boys our season starts in the morning and I CANT WAIT
call em in close and shoot em in the lips

ksfowler 10-30-2009 05:24 PM

Ours opens up in the morning. But there is suppose to be little to no wind so I am going deer hunting. I do have a pond at last check had 75-100 mallards and pintails sitting on it.

livinadream 10-31-2009 12:09 PM

well boys overall we had a pretty slow morning, we have been hammered by rain the last two weeks and there is just too much water. they can practically sit down anywhere. but we did end up with 13, our other buddy had already left with some of the birds (reason they arent in the pic) but you can mark me down for 5

ksfowler 11-03-2009 05:53 AM

You can add a ruddy duck for me.

huntnteen 11-08-2009 09:58 PM

Hey guys, please designate a captain and post scores to keep the rivalries going! Also if you have any no shows for teammates please PM me

ksfowler 11-10-2009 06:40 AM

Any idea on who should be captain? I could do it if no one else wants to.

ksfowler 11-17-2009 05:55 AM

Add 5 greenwing teal and 5 mallards to my list

ksfowler 11-22-2009 11:24 AM

4 Geese to add to my total

ksfowler 11-24-2009 11:15 AM

6 more geese for my total.

I guess I will enter our team scores.

Bandhunter 11-27-2009 03:07 PM

Thanks KSFowler for stepping up and taking care of posting our totals. I got 2 mergansers this morning. I have pics on my phone and will try to post later. No geese showed up today but I will be out there from now on everyday until Feb. 1.

Thanks again, Rick

ksfowler 11-28-2009 01:25 PM

I got 4 more geese yesterday.

ksfowler 12-01-2009 05:49 AM

Two more geese for me.

ksfowler 12-13-2009 12:44 PM

Got 5 mallards last weekend. Scores are updated.

ksfowler 12-15-2009 06:58 PM

4 more ducks for me.

ksfowler 12-16-2009 05:44 PM

1 duck and 2 geese

Bandhunter 12-23-2009 06:14 PM

Killed 2 mallard drakes this week. I sure hope the hunting picks up here soon. This is the worse year ever so far. Keep up the good work Kansas.

ksfowler 12-23-2009 06:31 PM

3 geese and 1 duck

ksfowler 12-25-2009 02:37 PM

two more ducks for me. Scores updated.

Bandhunter 12-26-2009 10:20 AM

Geese!!!

Finally had some birds wander by this morning. Seven longnecks stopped by and we got them all. Chalk up 2 geese for me. We have a good spot for in the morning that had about 40 mallards sitting on the pond and usually a good group of geese.

ksfowler 12-26-2009 03:31 PM

Congrats, sounds like you had a great hunt! Good luck in the morning.
