First team with 2 bucks down I believe, fantastic guys/gal. Keep them coming. Get them posted and you'll be in the lead! Nice.

Edit: Nope, Team 36 has two down, both entered but not final, one is missing the score breakdown.

Should be close between you two teams for now.

This team has some solid producers. Good luck.

IL_ray_phillips 10-01-2009 06:08 PM

Seen a small 6 pointer tonight here in IL. A buddy missed a doe and another buddy smoked a doe. It was pretty windy. Will be back after them tomarrow evening.

RIStrutStopper 10-01-2009 07:22 PM

Ok, used the B&C calculator and some directions I found on line for measuring a fork and the new total is 42 6/8. I'll go post in the scoring thread. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow afternoon to a new property I haven't even scouted yet, but it is close to home. Its a small property, so I'll blow out of work early, head into the woods, and throw my climber near any trails I may find. Oh yeah, gotta remember to get tags too...

Nice. Now throw your breakdown in there so we can see if ya did it right and I can get it entered. I'd hate to see you miss any points as I did it by the pic and came up higher.

And congratulations.

RIStrut,

What kind of quiver on your bow and how much $? Looking for something for fixed blade braodheads that doesn't dull the blades each time I put the arrow in and out of the quiver. Does it have foam or just clips that hold that broadheads? Where to get? Congrats on deer.

HNI_Christine 10-02-2009 10:36 AM

Went out yesterday. Woke up at 2:30am and didn't get home until 9pm.

Had a young 7 pointer keep me company in the morning for awhile. Not a shooter for me. I need to kill a doe before I can shoot a buck anyhow and the does stayed out of range.

During the evening hunt I got wet.... really, really wet. I also wondered how smart it was to be in a tree during thunder showers.

Woke up with a killer headache so I stayed home today. Perhaps tomorrow I'll get a doe. :)

KL WNY, its a Bohning Lynx 4 arrow quiver. They probably run about $25 or so. It has 2 sets of grippers to hold the shafts and the hood is hollow. It comes with 2 different sized sets of grippers for different diameter arrows. The inside of the hood is rubberized to keep things quiet. Its great for fixed blades or mechanicals.

Not that it does us any good, but I scored on a doe tonight. Brand new spot, never been before. Drew on a big doe but she didn't take the 2 steps I needed her to so I had to let down. She must have caught movement, took 2 jumps and she was back inside the woods edge. She stayed there for a bit but then walked back the way she came. About an hour later, a lil skipper came out giving me all kinds of opportunities. I saw it had company back in the woods so I let it pass. Out came another skipper, but bigger. I was gonna let it pass, but she came right in and gave me an 8 yard broadside shot and she looked tasty, so Thwack!

FF/EMT 10-02-2009 08:53 PM

made it out his morning and had 4 does come by, unfortunately i was hunting in an area where i didnt have a permit to shoot a doe. Hopefully going to make it out again Saturday evening. Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

Tom

TyMidge21 10-03-2009 10:42 AM

My score was 106 3/8. I think i did it right. I will post the final measurements.

RIStrutStopper 10-06-2009 05:39 AM

Good deal Ty! Spent an uneventful Sunday afternoon in the woods. Perfect day, 3 trails converging right in front of my stand, all I had to do was wait for something to walk down any one of them. Didn't even see a tree rat. Oh well.

Bible_Man 10-07-2009 01:07 PM

Seen my first bucks this year this week! A spike that I could have nailed at 15 yards and a pretty 8 that got no closer than 60 yards...got my blood to boiling! Had an opportunity at a doe, but there were quite a few leaves in the way. Not many branches at all...if she would have only moved a few feet either way there would have been an opportunity at supper! Walked right back from where she came and didn't offer a shot. The time will come...there has been a lot more movement in the woods I hunt over the past week than there had been previously.

Bible_Man 10-09-2009 07:01 PM

My apologies...missed a good 8 today. Twas majorly exciting though!

IL_ray_phillips 10-11-2009 05:31 PM

We all tend to miss time to time. I havent got to get out much lately. Did get a Ky youth hunt this weekend in which my son on the right got his first deer. A little doe put a big smile on his face. My nephew decided he likes my 270. He dropped 2 in their tracts.

RIStrutStopper 10-11-2009 08:35 PM

Awesome IL ray, Bible Man, sorry about the miss, it happens. Hope you get another shot at him. I didn't see anything my last two times out. The spot seems perfect but nothing's moving. Maybe in a couple weeks. I've had this sinus thing going on for a while so I haven't gotten out as much as I'd like. Heading out again tomorrow afternoon to see what's happening in CT. Good luck everyone!

TyMidge21 10-14-2009 09:56 AM

Awesome Il_Ray! Took my little cousin out this past weekend for the youth hunt here in WI and he took one down opening morning. Nice sized doe. He dropped her in her tracks. He was way pumped!

FF/EMT 10-17-2009 10:29 AM

Well I just added a little to our score. After a sleepless night and a long track job were up 138 5/8. Little more of a story on the main bowhunting forum.

Bible_Man 10-17-2009 07:59 PM

Awesome! Nice one!

IL_ray_phillips 10-18-2009 09:35 PM

Congrats on a great buck!

RIStrutStopper 10-19-2009 05:27 AM

Way to go FF/EMT! Congrats on a good one!

RIStrutStopper 10-19-2009 05:48 AM

TyMidge21- I don't see your deer posted on the score card. Did you enter it yet? It looks like it will put us in the lead when you do.

TX_Hoghunter 10-20-2009 01:04 PM

Congrats !

HNI_Christine 10-20-2009 01:16 PM

Congrats FF/EMT!!

TyMidge, get your score up! ;)

I got my earn-a-buck doe... but that's all I have to report. :/

Bible_Man 10-21-2009 07:25 AM

Way to go Christine! With that report, some other good news could be coming soon!

IL_ray_phillips 10-22-2009 09:03 AM

Had a 150's main frame 12 point at 15 yrds this morning. Cuddeback trail cam spooked him. Couldnt get him to stop for the shot. Hope he sticks around!

Bible_Man 10-22-2009 09:49 AM

Oh man, Ray! That is crazy exciting! Hope you get him!

RIStrutStopper 10-22-2009 05:39 PM

Bet that trail cam is coming down, huh Ray? Good luck tagging that brute!

dubcee 10-22-2009 11:41 PM

Thats just bad luck with the trail cam. Anyways Im trying to get some points for our team but no luck yet this season been out 10+ and have only had little guys close enough for shooting. I hope things will change now with the rut coming up. I put a stand deep in a valley I dont hunt much but it seems to be a good pinch point, hoping to rattle up a brute in the coming weeks. Good Luck All!

HNI_Christine 10-26-2009 12:12 PM

I haven't been getting nearly as much as I'd like. (work and rain)

but.... I'm headed down to Brown County, IL tomorrow for a couple days of hunting. :)

Wish me luck!

RIStrutStopper 10-26-2009 07:17 PM

Good luck Christine!

IL_ray_phillips 10-27-2009 12:06 PM

Put a guy in one of my stands the other night and he wacked a 140 inch 10 point with a double throat patch. I had several game cam pics of him. People in the area been seeing some good ones moving so hopefully it will happen soon.

FF/EMT 10-29-2009 01:56 PM

Thanks guys. Good luck to the rest of you!! The deer are really starting to move around here, a buddy of mine actually watched a buck breed a doe tuesday night.

Ray i hope you get a chance at that big boy, sounds like a hog.

Bible_Man 10-30-2009 10:59 AM

Definitely good luck on getting a monster, Ray! I have been out several time recently. The only times I am seeing deer are on the way out in the mornings and on the way in on afternoon hunts. Even been going in earlier in the afternoons. Seems the earlier I go in, the earlier they move. This too, shall pass. Seen a few good shooters, just not while in stand. Whether it has horns or not, it is time for me to put one down...need some venison!

Bible_Man 11-02-2009 07:52 AM

Well, this afternoon I am going to head out to a new property that I just got permission to hunt. No one has hunted it in 3 years and there have already been 3 nice 8's seen there this year. Behind a member at church's house. 25 acres of woods with a 5 acre field that comes down to their garden/house. They actually asked me to come hunt it because the bucks are starting to rub up some of their hydrangea bushes! I'm pretty pumped about the new scenery.

RIStrutStopper 11-02-2009 11:03 AM

Good luck Bible Man! Looking forward to hearing about how you did on the new property!

HNI_Christine 11-02-2009 06:27 PM

Sounds like a great property Bible Man.
I didn't score in Brown County. I did draw on, and settled my pin on 2.5 year old buck that was at 12 yards but I gave him a pass. It's still early enough that I think I can find a bigger one. (hope... hope... hope..)

I saw a nice buck with a drop tine get rolled by a truck in front of me on the way back from Bloomington tonight. That was a 6:30 pm. They're still moving late but they are moving.

Bible_Man 11-03-2009 09:03 AM

Was out yesterday afternoon...saw two does and a 7 point but they were across the field from me at 190 yards. Strolled back into the woods where they came from. Going back this afternoon and plan on climbing closer to where they came out. Should be a good day...at least that is what I am banking on.

RIStrutStopper 11-07-2009 07:13 PM

I hit the woods today about 1:30. Starting at about 3:00 it was like a doe parade. I must have seen about 10 of them and passed on some nice clean shots including a 10 yard shot at a pretty nice one. I was really trying to restrain myself waiting on a nice buck, but then this big spike started working his way towards my stand. He had a pretty big body, and I guess instinct just kicked in. He came right in and gave me a close broadside shot and I took him. He went about 30 yards and piled up in sight. I know, I need to chill and wait on the big boys. Oh well, I still have some tags left... How's everyone else doing?

Bible_Man 11-10-2009 08:57 AM

I was able to get a good doe this past Friday evening...more info in the bowhunting forum. Will probably take my smoke pole out a few times in the coming days, but my bowhunting days for the season are by no means over! Planning on getting out this afternoon again if it works out, as well as in the morning.

RIStrutStopper 11-23-2009 04:13 AM

How's the hunting everyone? I haven't been out in a while. Too much stuff going on. I'm hoping to get out some after Thanksgiving though. Anybody been out lately?

RIStrutStopper 11-25-2009 09:07 PM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
