In exactly 1 week I will be 20 ft. up hunting velvet bucks in Northern KY. I do lower my standards into the 120's when they have velvet on. I missed a 140 inch 8 point 2 years ago opening day. 15 yrd shot. Got a little shook up when he come walking in. I have shot some good deer but it never happens to me on the first hunt. I have a prime lease so hopefully I can get us on the board early!

Good luck Ray. I'll be sitting in a tree in about 2 weeks in CT, probably going to whack a doe to get the edge off if I get the chance and fill the freezer.

Awesome Ray! Good luck. 4 weeks today for me...unless I go in KY for their second weekend, but very doubtful. May as well go ahead and say that aint happening probably. TN archery opens Sept 26...went scouting for a while today...last two times out I've glassed the same drop tine 10 pt (first time I have ever seen a drop tine in the wild)! Has great tine length, but the main beam length is not ideal...still a PHENOMENAL TN buck! I would guess him in the 125 range. If he keeps bedding where he has been, I will hopefully have a good shot at getting him. I climbed and watched for a few hours week before last and he walked right where I would want him to be getting up from bedding...fast forward a month and play the same PLEASE!

Sept19th is when our season starts! Cant wait, hopefully ill add a decent buck to our point total. Good Luck everyone!

Not a monster but a really good pic. I was walking out to get my cam card and 10 yrds away from me in the beans was a heavy beamed 9 point that would score in the 150's. He watched me walk by. Went got my card and he was still there when I came back by. Got my phone out and got several pics. I will download them when I find my cable and post them.

That's a good looking young buck, Ray! After we win this year, he may be a target of yours to help us win next year...or the year after that.

Less than 2 weeks to go, I'm getting more psyched by the minute. How's everyone who isn't hunting yet holding up?

I am struggling waiting on Sept. 26th to get here! At least I get to watch my Crimson Tide tomorrow night! Season needs to hurry up and get here. I have a major itch and I don't believe a cure will come in before the 26th.

I am leaving at 2 am for the Hills of North Western Kentucky. Here are a couple fresh pics to keep you all pumped up. Hope I can sling an arrow at the 10 pointer around Nov 1st.

Was a good hunt despite the 4 inches of rain that soaked me on sat. evening. Seen over 30 deer after the rain stopped. Seen alot of nice 8 points but not quite what I wanted to take. There were 3 nice 140's came out 2 nights in a row just not in range. Might head back down and try it again this weekend. Could have put down a number of doe but they all had small spotted fawns with them. Lease is a good 1. Have a great crop of 2/1/2 year old bucks. All of them seem to be pushing 110-120 inches. Next year should be smoking.

Sounds like you have a great piece of property there, Ray. I'm jealous of all of you guys. Did some scouting yesterday and saw maybe 4 deer total. Couldn't see any head gear at all, but 1 was a doe for sure. Didn't get a good look at the others, but there were a couple of big bodied deer anyway. Oh well, I'm looking for some meat anyways, so I'm anxiously awaiting 9/15.

Out doing some of my last minute scouting before the season starts on the 26th and I yet again watched the droptine 10 pt. He is a dandy, and would be my best buck ever if I got him! Velvet is off and he is easily in the 120's, maybe pushing 130"! At this point, my biggest buck is a 107" 7 pt. that I got in '07. Got a small basket 8 last year, but that aint gonna cut it this year! You going back to KY this weekend, Ray?

Now that Rob is back from his pronghorn hunt and a lot of seasons opening up maybe we'll be seeing an alternate for jklinger. Thanks for keeping Rob posted on the no-show Bible Man. The wife and I just had some backstrap and bacon I was saving from last season. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Gives me some serious incentive to get out there next week and bring home some venison.

Well I did a little sept doe control today. Smoked one in KY at 43 yrds. Hunted Friday night also. Passed a nice 2/1/2 year old mid 120's 8 point both hunts. I got some good video of him I'll post after work tomarrow. Probably seen over 60 deer in the 2 evening hunts. Cant wait until the Oct youth hunt to thin the doe down.

Good work Ray! I picked up a doe off the side of the road today, not bloated yet, hoping to get some backstraps out of her...good meat gone bad. BOO! Eat well, my friend.

Cool video Ray! Yesterday was a less than stellar opener for me. Got busted setting up on the morning watch about a half hour before light and saw nothing else all morning. Went to a different property for the afternoon watch and passed on a small doe and bb. The wind wasn't right for my primary stand, so I set up about a hundred yards away to keep my #1 stand location fresh for the weekend. Oh well, got the whole season to go.
