Default Official Rules - 2008 HNI 5 Spot League

Alright guys, I apologize for the delay with getting this up, I put in a good 65+ hours last week at work and between being out of town for 3 days and trying to close the month out at work I just didn't have the time to get this going. My apologies, and I hope everyone can still participate.

Let's shoot for a start date of Sunday 3/9/08. All first week scores will be due 3/16/2007 @ 9pm EST.[/b]

[ul][*]This will be a60 arrow 300 5 spot league that will be4 weeks long.[*]We will separate into Open and Hunter classes - No lenses and no stabilizers longer than 12" in the Hunter class.[*]No handicaps applied, we will be using actual scores for all scoring.[*]Each shooter is allowed1x missed weeks during the4 week league. This missed week will be counted as a 0 with an x count of 0 for that week. Each shooter will be able to drop 1 week oftheir scores at the end of the league, so a single missed week won't matter, we will simply drop the score of your missed week.[*]Rounds can be shot any day of the week, and if you need to only shoot 30 arrows at a time and combine the twos scores together when you submit, this is OK.Scores MUST be posted on the official scores thread NO LATER thanSunday @ 9:00pm EST. If you post a score at 9:01 pm, your score will OFFICIALLY be zero. All scores posted must include your score and X count for all 60 arrows.[*]Scores must be submitted in the following format - You may cut and paste this below and then reformat with your score #'s each week:
[/align][/ul]

End Score X
1 25 4
2 25 4
3 25 4
4 25 5
5 25 4
6 25 3
7 25 5
8 25 3
9 25 4
10 254
11 255
12 253

300 48X

[ul][*]Please no discussion in the scoring threads, please open another thread for discussion. This makes it much easier for me to sort through and calculate scores and averages.[*]X’s will be used as tie breakers.[*]Photos of the target are not required with your score, but we reserve the right to request said photo. Failure to comply will result in a ZERO score. Save those targets! If you need, use a calculator to make sure you are writing the correct score down. [8D][*]If you truly do not have the financial means available, or the ability to order targets for this competition please feel free to contact me privately ASAP.I will ensure that you have targets to use. We don't want anyone to not participate because they don't have targets or the ability to order them. Do this ASAP so that we can ensure time to get these to you before things start. For everyone else, targets can be bought from www.lancasterarchery.com for .25 cents each. Buy yourself 10 of them or so, they are cheap. Link to purchase these is below:

http://www.lancasterarchery.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=53_250&products_id=1385 &osCsid=dffb886b86d00c121fa69d18bd5a1bc1[*]Where you shoot your round doesn't matter, but officialNFAA 5spot targets MUST be used.[/b][*]If you arenot shooting at an indoor range facility, you must be shooting from a MEASURED 20 yard distance.[/b] Thismust be done with the use of either a tape measure or laser rangefinder.[*]NFAA 5spot targets are scored as 5x, 5, 4. You only have to touch the higher scoring line with your arrow shaft to count the higher point. Please refer to the following diagram to see how these targets are scored.[*]*******Please no cheating. I am very limited in how I can regulate cheating. Please know that this league is supposed to be fun and that I really hope to introduce new people to the sport of target archery with this league. Cheating will cause others to become discouraged and not participate and you will be directly affecting everyone involved by doing this. This is all I will say on this, so please use your conscious when submitting those scores. I have no doubt that we are all mature enough here to follow this to a T.[/b]

I am new to the sport. This sounds like a lot of fun, but I am not sure of some of the lingo. For instance, I'm not sure of the scoring process.

Am I right in saying participants submit a score for 60 arrows per week?

Also, What does it mean, "5 Arrows per end. 12 ends per game"? What is an end?

Would love to participate, just need to clear some things up!

Hog...

An "end" is a fancy archery term for a group of 5 arrows (or 3 depending on format)~ the number of arrows shot before retrieving them from the target.

12 ends indicate that 60 arrowswill be shot (5 arrow groups... shot 12 times)

Oh! Okay. So, on the scoring, I get the ends now... I get the x is a bullseye...is this correct?

Correct - the X is the bullseye. Remember, your arrow only has to TOUCH the line to get the score of the higher ring. So, if you touch the line of the X ring, it's an X.

I'd be in big trouble if that rule ever changed.

Is there a maximum size of shaft that you can use in the league? If so what is the biggest I can use?
