I hear ya on that one. But I have always said, you cant get'em if ya aint out there!
They have to move eventually, I mean right now it's 77 degrees, and I'm sure it will drop some more, but they will have to move sooner or later.
In my case it seems to be more later then sooner!!!

I was thinking about going out tonight again for awhile, but with the weather being so warm(it's 78 here) I think I am going to wait until in the morning. I have yet to sit in the morning, so I will give it a whirl.

Hey, does anyone here hunt based on the moon? If so, what is that all about?

Our season starts Saturday morning, but I will not do my serious bow hunting until Nov. I will be making a trip to North Texas for Mule Deer and White Tail the end of October. I am going to hunt 12,000 acres of country in North Texas on a five day hunt. Lots of area to cover, like hunting in eastern Colorado, flat with deep canyon drops. Should be able to do a lot of spot and stalk. Our main hunting ground is in the hill country and South Texas in November. I will put one down, but it will not be one the first week of the bow season. Goal is 140 or better WT or a 150 or better muley.

Good luck guys! The pic is my hunting and camera bud, with his 160 that came from our hill country ranch.

Got permission on a new piece of land. I've been there 2 days giving it a quick scout. First morning I saw about a 130ish 10 pointer at 8:00am in a bean field. The next night I saw an awesom 8 pointer in the 115-120 range. Cant' wait to see what tonight brings [8D];). This land is prime for big bucks. It's about 500 acres that hasn't been hunted forever. Hope I can figure it all out in time.

Sorry bout not being on here for a little while, had a pretty busy schedule the last couple days. But the hunt is going better....I have seen several deer and even some damn good bucks! I know the season is early and the fun hunting, the rut, hasn't even started yet!
The weather here in WI is getting colder by the day which is awesome!!!!
I'm going to the stand tonight and hope for the best.
Go to my camospace and read my blogs to see what's been going on.

Yeah it is starting to cool down in WI and that is really nice.... unfortunately with work and school i probably wont be hunting till late october!

I can't wait until it gets REALLY cold here, the way it looks on the weather forcast is that this week in WI it's going to be pretty cold. So hopefully by mid-October it will be colder and that should really get them deer moving.
I got out tonight but got skunked! Maybe better luck when the weather turns colder?

I hear you guys about being busy, I work 10+ hour days and try to get time in training my puppy and still have to find a little time for the wife and kids. Lucky to get 5-6 hours of sleep a day. Today is the Il opener, I am planning on hunting on Sunday for the first time. The weather shouldn't be to bad as long as the rain holds off.

Here in WI the weather has finally decided to go along with the October feel of things. It has been getting colder everyday an last night we had a frost warning and sure enough, there was frost this morning. I sat out in the stand last night but seen nothing but some squirrels. But wouldn't ya know it, when i was leaving I got dow the road maybe 100 yds from were I go in, there was a doe satnding there waiting to cross!
I wont get out probably until Mon. or so, but it gives me time to re-locate some good stand possibilities.

Haven't shot anything here as of yet. Passed up a few opportunities on 130 class bucks with hopes of catching up with that show stopper. Lots of time left here.

Having some trouble with nocturnal bucks here already. It's frustrating. I'll keep at it, and eventually something will give.

This is the new monster I'm after. I seen him a few times from the road and have been trying to get a chance at him but could never seem to figure him out. Now I think I might have the "general" location of his location. Need more scouting though and a little more help. Read my post's to find out some info. on the land and what is needed.

Jebus!!! Both of those are monsters. I don't know if they grow that big here in NC. My buddy got a small 6 point last night. I'm holding off for something a little bigger. I these are two I got last year mid November with my muzzle loader.

I guess I might have to invest in one of them there trail cams. My buddy Aand I finally got out yesterday around 1;30 in the stand (He was an hour late to my house, he forgot a couple things and had to back track). Well it was pretty slow, He kickedup a doe and 2 fawns walking in to his stand and saw a couple does about an hour later. As for myself didn't see anything antil about 6:15 when a group of 4 does came strolling up the trail towards my stand. They where all within 15 yards or closer when one of larger ones gave my a good shot. I seemed to be at full draw for a minute waiting for theshot to present itself. I released and whack right into the shoulder. I still can't figure out why my shot was to the left if only a couple inches. Whe nI practice if I'm off alittle it's always to the right. Well anyway she took off likea bat out of hell right through some nasty underbrush. My tracer nock performedgreat as I saw herrun out of sight. Took us a while to track as hardly any blood. The better news is we talked to the farmer who planted all the corn and he told us that he was planning on cutting in 2 weeks. He has seen alot of deer and offered us a 6 pack for every doe we take, They are eating the c**p out of his corn. He also mentioned seeing a couple nice bucks in the area. This is the first year corn was planted on the property as last year they were open fields. Things are looking good for the near future. Oh andby the way the one thing a forgot was a camera. Good luck to all once again...
P.S. try to postyour pictures just a tad smaller...lol:D

That's some pretty nice looking deer and that buck looks like a shooter. Good Luck and hope ya get one. I am going to post some more pics of a couple that I glassed a few days ago.
About the whole "trail camera" thing, I don't own one and I get some nice pics form just a digital camera that I always carry with me. It works well and if you can get one like mine that you can turn the shutter noises off and pick your type of flash. In my opinion, nothing can beat ACTUALLY being there for the pic.

I hear ya they are a little on the big side I just wanted yall to get a really good look. Got some good news I shanked me one about 7:15 tonight, thought it was a doe and watched her for 45 minutes before I decided to shoot nothing came out so I did the deed;)

Southern Buck,

Does that count as your buck for this year? Not sure of the rules other than you can not enter but one buck. Here in Texas if the horn is not throught the skin it is antlerless and a antlerless tag goes on the deer.

I'm here nearly every night. Just hoping that someone would post up some reports. Unbelieveably I didn't hunt last night. I'm trying some new things. The bucks that I have been hunting have turned completely nocturnal. They won't be out during daylight hours until atleast the end of the month.

I am taking a friend of mine's son on a hunt this Saturday. Wisconsin has a two day gun youth hunt on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully I can get him his first deer.

I'm still around. Going nuts trying to close down a golf course, scouting my butt off and last minute revisions before my season starts (October 18th). This new piece I aquired has me in a tailspin right now trying to get setup on it. There's some brutes on this land and I hope it pays off.

Yeah I here ya on that one! The property that I am hunting has some really great buck sign and I have seen some great bucks in there. My buddy just took a huge monster buck out of there, he saw the one I am after, but that was after hrs on the way back o pick up the buck he got. It was an awesome 12 pointer, huge spread. Pic of "live animal on thread of "Big Ol WI Bucks".
Hope I can get a crack at the one I want.

Hunted a new spot this morning and had a nice buck about 5 yards away from me but he wouldn't come out of the thick brush. He stood there for a few and kept moving thru the thick stuff. All he needed to do was take two steps and I could have gotten a shot. I'll go cut me a shooting lane tomorrow afternoon.
