yeah, here in SW WI the rain is terrible! I got rained out this morning, soaked to the gills! I saw a doe and a little fork, nothing to really write home to mother about!
hopefully thisa rain will let up for the evening hunt!

oh, and great way to start the season James Vee, sounds like you have a great opportunity at some nice bucks.....which part of WI do you hunt in?

Good thing we needed the rain here, It's been raining for just about the last 24 hours. Had someheavy downpours this morning. Their figuring between 4-7 inches of rain fell overnight. Guess I won't be mowing the lawn today...

You WI boys are killing me! Our season will not open until Oct.1st. I have a few places to hunt local, but my main unting ground is in the Hill Country and South Texas. Do not get on those places till Nov. You guys are getting the rain and it will continue till Ike gets through with its devistation. My son was right in its troat down in Galveston. His reports are vast devistation all along the Texas coast eastward from Galveston. Is in-laws lost there home that faced the Trinity Bay. It had servived two huricans in the past, but not this one. 3200 sq. foot brick home left in rubble. I am headed that way to help those people down there so I will not be on line for several days.

Good luck to all of you early hunters,

Larry

I didn't see anything this morning and saw a small buck about 70 yards thru the woods this afternoon. All I can say is man is it HOT!!! I was soaked with sweat this afternoon by the time I got up the tree! It's a long season and I've got plenty of tags.

RE: RE:OfficalTeamDeathByLethalInjectionThread(50)

Well that sux, as long as nobody got hurt and the car didn't get totaled, can't be all that bad.

bowtechlove 09-16-2008 08:41 PM

RE: RE:OfficalTeamDeathByLethalInjectionThread(50)

bowtechlove 09-17-2008 12:09 PM

RE: RE:OfficalTeamDeathByLethalInjectionThread(50)

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

Knowing that there's a 10 pointer around. I'm pretty sure I would have passed on the 6 also, Thewhole season is still there, plenty of time to pick your shots,,,

bowtechlove 09-17-2008 06:14 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

Very true. But I have to say, if another doe comes by, I'm going to have to stick her!
I am almost out of deer meat and I'm going to need more. I hope that I can get a chance at this 10 point, it would be great, the biggest buck I have taken with a bow.

BUCKMARK 09-17-2008 06:19 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

If you get the chance, you gotta take a doe or at least I would. Can't wait til Oct 4th to get here so I can get out and do some hunting.

Had a beast of an an eight point come in last night. Had him at about 10 yards, but to my right and in cover. Never gave me a shot opportunity. He's a huge bodied deer. Dressed weight has got to be well over #200. Here is a pic of the deer.

BUCKMARK 09-20-2008 02:16 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

That's a nice looking buck, keep after him. One day he will give you the shot you need to put us on the board...

James Vee 09-20-2008 04:01 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

Without sounding too cocky, I'm actually looking for something a bit bigger. But I don't think I could pass up on this buck. Not after finding his sheds last year, and knowing how big he is.

jc395 09-20-2008 07:40 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

They don't grow em that big in my neck of the woods. I didn't get to hunt this afternoon, but did see two does on my food plot at about 3:00 this afternoon.

Just got back from a week long aid effort from the Northeast Texas Coast. Helping those people did out from the worst Hurricane in 100 years. Looked like a atom bomb was dropt. So when things get bad just look at these pics, and tell yourself how good things really are.

God be with those that lost so much!

This is a stretch of highway from High Island Texas to Crystal Beach Texas. Use to be houses as far as you can see like the one standing.

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

that is terrible!
it really makes you stop and think for awhile about just how fortunate some of us are.

much love goes out to all those that lost!

Thanks! My wife and I were welcomed with open arms when we showed up to help. The town poured out there thanks and prayers to all that came to help out. Do not have a great deal of money, but have lots of vacation time saved and two good helping hands. So we loaded up all the supplies we could and donated a week of labor. Here is another picture that says it all, "Pride is still strong in these Northeastn TexasCoastal folks".

[:@]Well I was going to go out tonight, but of course, that all got messed up!
I had planned for a nice evening in the satnd after work. I was going to be done around three o'clock, but as the day closed, my boss asked me to stay another 3 hours overtime, and of course like millions of othere's, I need the money. So I stayed over and didn't get home until around 7 tonight.
But nothing is going to stop me tommarow, I pull a half day and I'm hittingthe woods! We need to get on the board here fellas!

Good Luck!!!;)

Plenty of time left boys. No need to rush. I've missed one evening sit, and that was because of rain on our season opener.

Sat yesterday evening and saw a few deer. Five bucks in total. Two of them were 2.5 year old eights. Just a matter of time.

Southern Buck 09-23-2008 08:12 AM

All Ive seen is turkeys!! cant stand tha dang things now come turkey season I wont see a one, funny how it works that way. I sat i the blind last night and seen 16 of em, went back to the stand this morning and seen 10, I think the turkeys are scaring my deer off gonna have to find another spot for next week I guess.

i tried a different spot last night, closer to the river where the trials cross, hoping to get them coming up over the bank, but i got skunked! I never saw a thing! I am going to try another spot tonight and hopefully, cuz the weather isnt so warm, i can get a chance at even a doe...im running out of meat!!!

BUCKMARK 09-24-2008 02:02 PM

RE: Offical Team 50 Thread

We never seem to see to many deer when the temps are to warm. Most times won't even make the trip to the hunting groundif the weather isn't favorable for us. It sux to drive 2 hours to hunt and not see anything...
