Hey team! This is Derek and I'll be hunting in Kansas of course. This is my 8th year now bow hunting, 1st time in this contest. I've got a few bucks under my belt. With luck on my sideand what I've seen in the field already I won't have any problem putting up some big points for us. I wish you all luck and it won't hurt if you all toss me a little luck as well. If anyone has been in this contest before, take charge and lets get a captain and team name.

I was around last year and took a 145 in 10pt. This year hasn't been looking so well some small bucks and a lot of does. good luck to all and where do we sign in?

This is my first year in the contest. Have been seeing a few nice bucks, so hopefully i can stick one. Have off of work Nov. 1st - Nov. 8th to hunt Bayfield County WI. Good luck everyone, time to get some shut eye.

I'll be hunting out of Southern Illinois this fall. I've been bowhunting for about 6 years now, and bowhunt exclusivly. This is my first year in the contest, and I am curious to see how everything works out. I've harveseted 2 bucks with a bow, both in the 130" range. I'm pretty picky about my bucks, but will keep the freezer full of does. As far as a team name, I'll let you guys decide.

For what I was wanting to spend I found the BEAR Lights Out. This is just my second bow and I'mpretty excited about it. This one shoots great for me and I can't wait to go after one of these 3 bucks I've been seeing. I get started the last weekend of Sept. When do you all get started? Sure wish we had the rest of our team sign in.

Our season starts on October 1st. I just put my trail camera up Wednesday at my favorite spot, so I'll see next week what I come up with. Then I will move it to my girlfriends farm to try to catch a pic of the big boy out there.

What comes with being the captain? I would rather not being my first year in the contest but I will if no one elseWANTS to be. Is there a time limit for the rest of our "team" to check in? Sure would like to get everyones opinion on a captain and team name.

Hopefully, someone who has not checked in yet is a returner. I think we should also put our names up so we can get to know eachother. We'll be talking to eachother a lot over the next few months hopefully.

Hi, pjhunts checking in. You can call me pj. This will be my 3rd yr for the contest. I got a 130 inch 8 pt the first yr in Kansas. Last year really sucked for me. I had my shoulder operated on 4 days before archery season opened, recovery was supposed to be 6-8 weeks, but the damage was a lot worse than they thought and I was out for 12 weeks!So I only got about 3 weeks of bow hunting in. Hopefully this year will go smoother. Looks like we will have some good big buck states represented on our team, that's always a good sign. I don't know anything about the captain's duties either. Oh , I shoot a gaurdian.

Rob just got back with me. Here is what he said the Captains responsibilities are.

"PM and email/ notify missing members,

Be there for me if I need your vote for something. I just need someone as my go to guy/girl from each team in case I need them."

By the way,
I have e-mailed all team members and told them about the team name vote.

I'm all good with LeLand for Capt. Also whatever our name turns out to be, I saw that someone was making graphics for the teams, so maybe they can do ours unless we have someone on our team who is good with that stuff. I'm excited to see how we do!

Alright, enough with the technical stuff, I think Leland would make a great capt. and I don't really care what the name is ,,I just want to hunt. I've been watching a pair of giants on public ground I hunt. One will go 190 or so and the other will come close to cracking 170 as a straight 8.. I 'm pretty pumped. I also drew a tag to hunt in the refuge for a week at the state park. Drew the first week of Nov. to booot!! Also I got permission to hunt some ground by my house where I saw an 8 pt nightly in Jan that was in the 150 inch range. He should really mass up this year if he's the one i think he is, he will be 6 yrs old this yr. I have a trail cam set up there and will check it this weekend.

Glad to see more people finding our team. I voted forTheRack Pack as well and it seems that Splitear knows his way around these forums and how to post things pretty good so I vote for him to be captain. Nice job getting things rolling. I meant to mention that as long as The Rack Pack hasn't been used before that is my vote. I think Bone Collectors was used last year if I'm not mistaken.

Hey guys,
I'd be alright with being captain, it doesn't sound to difficult. When this poll runs out on Wednesday I'll put a Captain poll up so we can take an official vote. I want to give all of the teama fair chanceto check in before we make any final decisions. I'm not sure when the deadline is, but if the others haven't checked in I'll put a request in for some alternates. Also, when we finalize a name I'll see if I can find somebody to make a cool avatar.
I'm ready to get my bow back, that way I can finish getting it tuned in before our season starts on Oct. 1. I just put my trail camera back out last week (it was the first chance I had all spring/summer) and I'm anxious to see what I catch. I have some pretty good prospects from last year. One is was about 130 that I let walklast year, and I found a half of his rack on Dec. 15. I hope all of us have a smash up season. What all species will we have represented here. Myn of course is big Illinois whitetails.

I got a new bow this winter, a Ross Cardiac, and the guy I bought it from owns a bow shop. Well, I let him set it up for me, and the draw length is about 1.5" to short. I tried to make it work for a while, but I eventually got sick of it and took it to my regular bow shop. He doesn't deal Ross, so he has had it for about 3 weeks waiting for the 30" module to come in. I hope it will be done this week.

The rules say that alternates can sign up until Oct. 1, but I don't know when they will start placing the alternates. I'll pm Rob and find out. I'm sure they want to give these guys a fair shake at checking in before we find a replacement.
