Funny story #348

Me and my friends, We used to walk our somewhat shallow river setting limb lines in the summer. sometimes you would have to swim, other times its ankle deep, and typically very muddy bottom. we would be hooking live bait onto some big salt water hooks hoping to catch the 40 to 50lb flatheads that are in these waters. we would walk about a mile of the river and set about 20 lines, go home for the day and then go back the next day to retrieve our catch. Many times, the lines will beso twisted up and tangled in the snag we have tied off to that you have to reach down, under water that you cant see 2" into to try to free the fish and pull him on out.

The SCARY moment is when your fingers are following the line and you touch a hard,....... beak, at which point you scream at the top of your lungs SNAPPER!

man, we got some big turtles in this river, and believe me, they are freaking MAD! makes me shiver every time.

Ha, i wasnt involved in this one,

Several years ago,a guy i know had a decent 5 x 5 set of Elk sheds, he took them out one spring and left them in a local farmers alfalfa field which had beenswathed and wind rowed for the first time.

a few days later, it was all over town that we had a bull Elk in the area cuz farmer Jones had found his sheds, lol.

Funny # 62

Back in 05' i was walking out from my stand one night, no moon, it was way dark. I was walking the edge of a cut milo field in the soft dirt of a recently planted wheat field. about that time, i heard a noise just ahead of me and i froze,........listening.....i reached down and pulled my flashlight from my fanny and turned it on to scan the area.....

Gulp! Momma SKUNK! with 4 little ones just ahead about 20'! I dont think my feet hit the ground more than twice in a hundred yards as i made a cat like jump hard left!

whew, sigh, i hate skunks!

I had the same thing happen to me last year when I was walking out from one of my stands! I about pissed myself when I saw the skunk!!!

Those are all some funny stories that you have there though! I have some good ones that are pretty much not a bit appropriate to be posted on here!

Things are looking good! I bought and set up the Sams special Wildview extreme 5 last fri @ about 5pm, low and behold would you look who i found, not going to be easy to shoot him @ 4 in the morning tho.

I got pics of 4 other bucks, 3 still in velvet, however, they are all much smaller bucks, also several Does and a spotted fawn.

Time to move the camera to another area a few miles away.

The camera was set to take a burst mode of 3 pics, i got 6 of this guy, also, i had the camera set with a 5 minute delay between bursts.

The camera costs a whopping $90. im impressed, some of the daylight photos were a bit very grainy but the night time and what seems early morning and evening seemed fine, i have it set facing NNE so i didnt figure the sun to fade it out. i also think the flash went off sometimes during daytime photos which its not supposed too.

He's not real wide but hey, he's not that bad either.
