He's a monster I tell ya!:D Should go 50".;)
LMAO, it's nanny season isn't it?

And it's a shame Dagger isn't legal for when your here, if atlas measured him he'd go 75" for sure. :D In reality he's roughtly two 8" spikes so, 8+8+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+4 for a spread = 36". [8D]

This cool evening weather had me going nuts guys. I climbed up my stand behind the house. I had 2 small bucks sparring less than 30 yds away right at dark. I had the camera and everything, they just came in too late. Pinned me up there a little while. I really don't know how big they were cause it was so dark, but the one was considerably bigger bodied than the other. I'm figuring these 2 were behind the fresh rubs and small scrape back there as well. :D

Cool experience Ryan.

The cool weather has me going nuts too. Countdown is happening. I'll start 9 days in NC. :D

awesome Rybo!! that would be pretty neat to get to watch! ive never been on stand and witnessed sparring or fighting. guess before the last 2 bowseasons i wasnt sitting still and quiet in the woods in the fall much to get to see it...

this cool weather got me all fired up...its pretty dang chilly out there right now!! couldnt tell if it was a super heavy dew or frost on my way home...i know its pretttty chilly though...could see our breath sittin on my buddies porch...

sure feels good....hope the trend continues! last year was miserable for the first week or so....stinkin nasty hot...i remember being absolutely soaked just sitting there a few times!

i COULD kick off my season EARLY.....with an early doe season....but, i doubt i will...really nowhere i'll take a doe in my area at home...never thought id say that...but the last 2...or 3 seasons ive been no doe in my home areas...the LATE season rifle hunters really did their duty the first few years of that in 2B...could maybe venture out behind the house...its on its way to being a developement...sad to see survey markers and logging roads...not sure whats coming...but if its still cool out i might head out back there before the season...

Very nice! That will probably be my next cam. I was just talking to my dad about this last night. We have a cheapo wildview we bought from Gander Mountain, and that batteries last about 4-5 days...trigger time is slow, and I don't want flash anymore. Good luck. Hope to see your results.

Looking forward to the pics.

Ldiebo13, would that be legal? Deer love salt licks.

I saw a hat trick tonight. On my way home from work I spotted something black crossing the road. Realizing it was a bear cub and not a black cat I sped forward to see to cubs and momma bear. I showered and we headed for wings only to see a flock of turkeys. I said to my wife, I need to see a deer now and on our way home, I spotted a matriarch family of does. My night was complete.

Good night then, but...how were the wings?;)

I got out and shot again. I wasn't on as well tonight, but did decent. I shot almost entirely from 40yds, and had two three shot groups all in the black on the Morrell bag. One group was about .75"...pure luck there:D My extra SlickTricks and G-nocks came in from MeanV, so I have four solid shooter arrows with broadheads in the quiver and ready to go. Now I just need to by some Scent Killer shampoo/body wash. Where's the best place to buy that? Rob, is it available at GM? I've never even looked for it, but I would assume it would be there.

Oh, and I have a nice new toy coming this weekend.;)

Matt, go to GM this Saturday. Gonna be some sweet deals down there. Costs 5 bucks to get in. Mike Waddell and some country artists are gonna be there. It's called "Gander Jam."

I was out for a ride out around my parents, ran into grouse. Parked to chat with my buddy that was riding and this grouse came out like it was looking for a handout. Must have been raised, bought and stocked?

Here is a vid of a small buck that stared at me for like 5 minutes.

What is the toy? I am curious.

Won't be in town this weekend, go figure. Wow, that's pretty crazy about the grouse, even if it was raised, it would still be a neat experience. The toy...well it's not a bow[8D];)

Tracy is on rotations now, so she's no longer in Wilkes-Barre. I'm headed to Binghamtom (what a dump of a city[:'(]), and I'm going up 220[&:] We'll get together sooner or later. I always want to come down and shoot with you guys, but I'm such cheapo about gas:D That, and I'm out of town almost every other weekend.

Nice hat trick Rob. Anytime I see a bear, its always cool.

You guys have fun at Gander Jam.

And reading about wings with still an hour till lunch is killing me. If any of you are ever close to the ‘burgh, we have to hook up & I’ll take you to our favorite place for wings. It will not disappoint.

As for hunting related items, I’ll be heading over to Ohio to meet up with buckeye & finalize some stands, do a little trimming if need be, and maybe some glassing before dark. I’ve got all day and plan to make the best of it.

Good luck, Pines!!! Im really getting anxious now that other seasons are starting. MO opens on Monday, I hope the cool weather we've been having sticks around.

I put out the new trail cam today. Im hoping to get the big 8 i have the sheds from on film. He hasnt been hunted at all on this farm, so Ill wait till i get him on camera and then i make my move ;). Im really hoping to take a pic with his sheds from the past 2 years, a trail cam pic, and me with my bow laying over him. That would make my year.

Also shot the bow a little. My tributes dialed in, only thing i need to do before monday is wash my clothes.

Good luck!

I checked my (Ben's) camera here at the house. I had about a dozen pictures of Dagger, one fawn and a couple of Dagger and Trey. The big boy has been absent but talking with my neighbor, he said a big one's been spotted in the back field so I think he's around, or there is multiples...probably multiples.

Here's Dagger:

Now to be fair, when I beat Rob a week ago, I shared it with ONE person. Now that the gloves are off the next time it happens. Let's just say, when I do I will pull a "twildasin." ;)And you can take both of those predictionsto the bank, poorguy.[8D]

LOL, I don't even want to go there. I need to get down there for a game of BUCK, so I can see how many arrows it takes before I get my butt handed to me.

I'm up in NY now, I drove straight from work, and got here around 6. I'll be up here for the weekend, and I will check in every now and then. Yesterday evening I put my quiver on and loaded it with arrows. Went outside to shoot, and it definitely took some time to get used to. A little extra weight throwing my balance off, but it turned out alright.

Ben, and Rob, have a good time at Gander tomorrow. Wish I could make it.

Everyone else heading out this weekend, good luck to you.

RE: Official Team 15 Thread

awesome Rob!!

im kickin around the idea of going doe hunting Saturday behind the house...we'll see what the weather is like...maybe just venture across the road and sit on the orchard...

got another chore outta the way...mom been on my case since i got home to finish unpacking and clean up....urghhhh my old room in the last house was seriously H U G E...it was a basement room of a good sized house and was 1/4 of the basement...forget the measurements but it was HUGE. i could keep all my hunting gear, guns, etc in there plus everything else....every Christmas mom likes to get my decorations and stuff for my room with hunting and fishing themes...this new house i can barely turn around in the room...not nearly enough wall space...cant even keep the essentials in my room! but i got done what i could and made it look decint and cleaned up the basement from the stuff i never unpacked from Cape Cod...so thats another chore off the list!

also ordered rubber boots last night...will break them in coonhunting till the season starts...hate having to use my bowhunting boots to coon hunt, but figure i can just keep them in the bin like i would bowhunting after im done coon hunting like i did last season...

ready to go....just waitin for the day to get here! got some minor gear to gather yet...gotta find the pack and get that all situated and that sorta thing...i know if i do it now i will go over it 10000 times before the day....i'll wait a bit before i load it up! trying to pack lighter this season! i always seem to take half a sporting goods store with me for a couple hour hunt!

Well Gander Jam was a bust. It rained a little the whole time and the crowd was slow. The deals at Gander weren't what I expected either.

We did watch Michael Widdell, Darryl Singletary, Rhett Atkins, Abby and Rose Wild sing a few songs.

I did manage to purchase 2 hang ons and a 20 ft ladder stick for a big savings. The stands were $59 down to $39 and a $69 tree ladder stick minus a $20 off from the tickets we had for the concert.

MGH_PA 09-13-2008 07:00 PM

RE: Official Team 15 Thread

I was at Dick's up here today, and they had a nice hang on for sale for $34, I almost picked one up. Why didn't I?[&:] I almost but a nice scent elimination kit, but it didn't have all the things I needed. They were having good sales there, though.

RE: Official Team 15 Thread

boy my blood is pumpin!!! just got in from coon hunting...terrible night...REALLY bright...coons not moving good...deer not out....just a pretty ugly night...beats anything else, but ugly none the less...but last drop we went and got the dog out of the hollow and came back out and was leaving and we caught a deer in the headlights crossing the driveway about 15yds infront of the truck! he immediatly dropped his head and was in thick stuff but stood not fair off the drive....we got a pretttttty good look at him...drove up and backed up 5x trying to get a good view and finally got a pretty good look...he wasnt a monster, but boy did he look like a dandy....looked to be a 10pt with a 14-16" spread and had pretty good tine length....good beam length and mass wasnt bad...probably a dandy 2.5yo...maybe 3.5 but i doubt it...id say hes carrying a good 100-120" of bone on his head(probably 110ish give or take...i couldnt get a good feel for tine length but he had it and carried it all the way to the G3s and 4s were ever 3-5" and brows looked 3-5" as well... just a solid buck.....

GREAT NEWS is he was within oh....400yds of the honey hole or so!!!! better news is, the way he was coming says he just MIGHT have been coming from my honey hole...i know the honey hole has about the best/most perfered bedding in the whole area...we'll see....hoping thats where hes living...this was just before 11pm...so its hard to say.....did look ALOT like the buck that i didnt get a shot at opening morning last year, just bigger...and we didnt kill that buck or hear of him getting killed...so very well may be....

nice rob! have you used the ladder stick deal before?? i got 2 hang ons in the basement i didnt bother hanging this year...hung them last year, and beside hanging and taking them down being a major task, screwing in steps and climbing them isnt much fun....and i have to take atleast the bottom 10-12 feet out and lock it up...taking the steps out helps prevent theft, but screwing them in in the dark stinks....and, frankly they aint nearly as nice or comfy as my Viper...though i know they are cheapos...thought about the ladder deal and could take a section or 2 out and maybe they would be easy enough to throw on my back and throw on the tree when i wanna hunt that tree...just some spots its REAL nice to have a stand hung and accessible to sneak into without the summit on my back...but gotta be a better way then them danged screw in steps...

Did some scouting yesterday over in Ohio with buckeye. Saw a a few 150-160's and a 200"er. First time seeing one of those in real life. There were a mile or so from where I'll be hunting.
We saw a lot of other wildlife as well; 2 efts, a black snake, coyote skeleton, a live coyote on my way home and a TON of turkeys.
