Hey guys, In case you were wondering about the supposed "gun-shot" buck entered in the contest, heres what I put as my vote/reasoning... If you all think I'm wrong let me know and I'll change my vote.
[hr]

" Tough call Rob. I hate to say it, but I think the story is wrong, looks to me like a gun kill.

BUT. It just looks that way to me, I wasnt there, and it cant be proved beyond a "reasonable doubt". I'm gonna vote to let it STAY, It will be on his conscience if he truely did lie about his buck and decieved his friends.

And I'm sorry this had to happen leathalconnection, its a great deer no matter what weapon was used, and you should be very proud. (after all, I've been skunked this year)

-Team 36 Captain "

Hey Ed I am sorry to hear you were unable to locate your buck. Been there myself and I know how it feels. As for the buck in question your vote is fine. I don't think it will change things much and I think it was REAL stupid of him to even take the picture with a gun. Actually looks to me like the gun picture was taken in the field and the bow was an after thought at the truck but that is for him to deal with.

What is the debate you are referring to? Anyone have a link?

You know what? If you feel it was a gun kill and still vote to let it stand ..it is a slap in the face to everyone in the contest who followed the rules. Whether it was for fun or not. The whole thing is BS if it stands.

HuntingEd 11-28-2007 09:25 AM

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread

I simply "feel" its a gun kill, I dont know, therefore I dont feel right making a judgement based on a feeling.

Its not going to effect the bottom line of the contest, we are pretty much garunteed to have a few rule benders..

but I'mopen to team opionion, if the majority of our team wants it gone, I'll make that my vote.

I've shot alot of deer in the head with my rifle (doe hunting) and that is a rifle shot to the head. If he is in fact telling the truth, have him skin out the head and take a picture. That would prove if it indeed "bounced off the railroad track"

My vote = He is a lying, poaching un-ethical hunter.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread

Sucks that this contest is getting to this point. Seems we didn't have this type of problem 4 years ago when this started. Of course back then HNI did not offer any "prize packet" either. I think we should have NO prizes of any sort and just have it be for fun again. Maybe it has just gotten to big too. Makes me second guess wanting to be in it next year and I have been in it every year. I wonder how many other guys will not come back.[&o]

I don't think I would call this guy a poacher or anything. Yes I do think he is lying but that does not mean he poached the deer. Just not someone I would trust.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread

He clearly said that they had archery deer tags, and were rifle elk hunting at the same time. So in theory, if he did in fact shoot that deer with his rifle, which I guarantee he did judging by the pictures, it is a poached deer. Therefore, he is a poacher. :D

wihunter402 11-29-2007 09:33 AM

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread

Rammer if that was the case then I agree with you. If they had gun deer tags then not. I made an assumtion and I a probably wrong. He was probably breaking the law with that too because he probably carried the gun and bow at the same time. In WI you can carry a shotgun for say fall turkey hunting as well as a bow for deer. Just do NOT get caught with any shot shells bigger then like either 2's or 4's. I don't remember the exact size. You can NOT in WI carry a rifle and bow at the same time. At least not during the archery season.

Rammer 11-29-2007 12:21 PM

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread

Its the same way here. You can hunt during rifle season with your bow and your rifle. During archery only season if you are licensed for a concealed weapon, you can carry a handgun. That is the only exception to the rule. The whole story sounds fishy to me.

my bowhunting slowed down a lot lately, havent been seeing nearly as many deer and combine that with slaughtering the geese means less bow hunting for me. went out tonight and got caught in a thunderstorm/tornado warning about an hour before dark. it SUCKED. i will try and go out this thursday evening, hopefully i get the north wind i need to huntthe best of my spots

Well Team 36! Sorry but no shooters this year.Missouri's bowhuntingseason ended yesterday. I sawquite a few bucks just none that I was willing to take. My rule is to take Missouri Big Bucks (140 class) and let the rest walk. That is just my QDM at my farm. Hopefully this year will be better as we are planting 3500 trees on my property along with clover. Good luck in 08'.

No buck here either. Our buck seasson ran out Dec 31st. I passed on many nice whitetails, but my minimum is 136".
