RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
You guys have some great looking bucks there. What cameras do you all use. I have the WildView 3 (2 of them) and Bushnell 1.3 (3 of them). I got the bushnell on sale at gander mountain last year. They get wet inside and short out the cards right away. I don't seem to get any pictures out of them. The WildView is working ok but when I copied the pictures to my thumb drive they didn't work good. Really didn't have much anyway. Some does with fawns and a few small bucks. Nothing very big.I will be checking the cameras one more time before the season. Labor Day weekend I will make sure all 9 hanging stands are good to go.

RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
Nice lookin bucks Rammer, we should definately have a decent score this year!
I'm gettin all geared up for the season, less than 4 weeks now... Gotta build 30 arrows, but its all fun :) |
RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
Not a huge have of Mathews anymore. Had one but I shoot the Hoyts better. Just me I know. They are all great bows. I like to think that I will keep my next bow for more then a couple of years but I know that is not realistic. I also know I can afford to replace every year. Sure wish I could though. I'm like you I think Mathews makes good bows, but I can't shoot them as good as the Hoyt's and Bowtech's. It has alot to do with the real thick grips on the Mathews. I like the slimmer grips. I know I could change a Mathews grip with an aftermarket, but it gives me an excuse not to want one.;) |
RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
some great pictures there. i need to get out and check my camera, it must be way past full. hopefully tomorrow or thursday i will get the chance. keep practicing everyone:D

RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
I did some sweet talking to a non-local guy that owns a killer piece of property not far from my house. He let me go into his trees this spring and shed hunt (found 40 some odd sheds in those trees), and I now have permission to hunt that spot! :DI'm pretty pumped up now, I need to make a few more treestands now!

RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
Hey wihunter, I use Moultrie digitals, but I can't remember the model number right off hand. They're rather inexpensive and take pretty good pics, but the trigger's a bit slow. I generally aim them up/down the trails to give them time to get the pics rather than hoping the deer stop right in front of it. I still have 2 Leaf River film cams that take absolutely awesome pics, but I haven't had time to put them out or have time to deal with the film thing.
|
RE: 36 Official Team 36 Thread
The pics in this post are Moultrie's from me as well (the cheapy black Walmart one, might be 2 MP, but might be even less than that), and I also aim them down the trial. Also have a Cuddeback and Stealthcam. Are Cuddebacks better? Yes. Is one Cuddeback better than 4 Moultries? No. But, that's about what they cost.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Rattlesnake1, deadstick...
Great bucks on camera, now....get them on the ground. Good luck guys. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Thanks for the info on the cams guys.I don't think the cuddeback are better cameras. I have one on the shelf in my garage right now. LOTS of problems and their service is just crap. Anyway that is why I bought the ones I did. The Bushnell are not doing very well with getting wet (before all the rain) but the Wildview are doing ok. I think I might have to do the same thing and move them to go up and down the trail.
On another note here is a pic of my bow when I was tuning the Slick Tricks a couple of weeks back. I can't wait to go sit in the blind or tree and spend some time with her.:D;) ![]() |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Sweet pics guys, I cant wait for the season to kick in!
check out this pic I got... im hopin to break 150 w/ the one on the left :D ![]() |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Nice lookin boys Ed....is the one on the left missing his left eye guard/brow tine?? Too bad if he is....the other brow looks to be good length.
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Great looking deer Ed. My cam has beendown for a while now, trying to keep the woods with as little human contact as possible.
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Great looking bucks there Ed! Can't wait to see one of 'em on the ground!
I got off work at 8 tonite, so I had about 45 minutes to drive around to a few of my spots an look at deer. Saw probably 30 does/fawns and 4 bucks. No shooter bucks spotted tonite :( |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Those are great looking bucks there Ed. Either one should be a shooter.
On another note I posted this over on AT. I really get nothing from this guy. I was going to post it on here somewhere but I don't want to get in trouble for them thinking I am spamming. This guy sells the Thermacell's and supplies for a good price. I thought some might like them. With all the rain we got I know I will need them. Anyway here is a copy of my posting on AT. Hey all. I just picked up a Thermacell, refill kits and holster from this guy. First I want to say I get nothing from him. He is just a very nice guy. He shipped my stuff out same day and I paid him with PayPal at 3:15pm. Anyway if you are looking for any of this stuff shoot the guy and email. Tell him you heard about it on the hunting boards and he will honor these prices. He sells on eBay for more because of eBay fees. If you want more then one of anything he will deal with you on that too. Hope this helps some of you. I just thought it was a good deal and with the rain we are getting I will need them. Thermacell Olive color - $17.95 Thermacell Camo - $20.00 Refill kit (4 butane, 12 matts) - $16.95 Holster - $8.95 His email is [email protected] and his name is Frank Patton. Like I said he is just a great guy to do business with and I think is prices are about as good as you will find. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
How much does he charge for shipping? I think Wally World has them for around $20, so unless that's for shipping included.....you know what I mean.
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Shipping it pretty much actual cost. With what I ordered it was like $8.20. I don't think it wouldbe worth it for just the unit itself but it is a good price on the refills and holster. Also no driving (unless you are there or tax). I just did some shopping around and this guy had the best prices on it with what I bought. I did order a couple of holsters and refill kits. I get nothing from him so if you can find a better deal take it.Oh and did your hunting area suffer any losses with all this rain? The section of Hwy. 80 in Richland that washed out is about a half mile up from where I turn off. There are some really devastated homes up that way and alot of those people don't have much money and most have on flood insurance. I hope you and all your family are doing ok.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Did some scouting for about a half hour before dark. I have a lil honey hole less than a mile from my house I hiked into with spotting scope an binos to check out. Saw a really weird buck in there tonite. It was a typical 6x6 that was about 12-14" wide. Looked like it should have been a basket rack 4x4. Lots of points in a small rack, can't wait to watch him grow up. He appears to be a real young buck. Also saw 5 does and 3 fawns.
Next tuesday I am taking my Trykon in to the local dealer and having some new accessories put on it. :D |

I played last year a little to close to the season and didn't really get it shooing the way I thought I should. I have the Tryktuned great now and just itchin to go. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Yeah I don't think its too late. I'm going to start flinging arrows everyday now, so I'll get her all dialed in. Might go shoot a 3D tourny Sunday.
I'm going with a new fall-away on my trykon, one that doesn't slap my riser. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Ed:
How's it looking for opening morning? With our temps the way they are.....if I shoot one....I'm retrieveing her pretty quickly. I likely won't chance a double. Good luck to you, buddy. |

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
I shot 60 arrows yesterday all between 33 and 40 yards at my new block. Theblock is pretty good target. I got the smallest pup because I figured if you can hit the smallest target then you should be doing fine...and the fact that it was still 99 dollars. Hope everyone is doing well and good luck.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Bow season here opens in 4 DAYS and 90 minutes! Scouted my big guy on Friday night, he's still there - hopefully the corn lasts until I get him (he's bedding in a corn field adjacent to my hunting area - I'm afraid he'll "move" when it's taken off in a couple months). He's got some decent relatives as well, though, not sure how patient I can be - I've got the fever worse this year than ever before.

Drummer I agree you should be ok if you can hit the smaller target. Are you using field tips or broad heads in the block? Shootem the Hoyt did shoot great I just always tweek and then gets things out of whack some. Spend lots of time trying to get it just perfect. Tinkering is half the fun for me. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Hey guys, glad to hear things are getting close..
I spent the weekend planting food plots at our place in VA so it will be ready by opening day in oct. hopefully though, I'll score here in MD before then, season opens in two weeks and 4 days!! cant wait! |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
I shoot mostly field points and will throw in a couple of broadheads here and there. Starting in October Iswitch to completely to broadheads. Many say that you should shoot with what you hunt and for the most part I think this is true but you can work on many things such as your form and release usingfield points.I just can't bring myself to shoot 50 times at my target with broadheads.I'm not worried though, I'm pretty much money!:D

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Hey Guys, Just so you aren't confused as to who the heck PABuck_HNTR is I had my name changed due to no longer having a Hoyt Trykon or shooting Hoyts. So I thought I'd let you know. TRYKONOISSEUR is now PABuck_HNTR
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
good to know PA buckhntr!
Got some pics of them sheddin their velvet... cant wait! I hope to score on opening day! |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
I got my Trykon all setup tonite with some new goodies. Got the Trophy Taker FC rest, the new Hoyt stabalizer, a new peep, and a new string loop. Will get her dialed in with broadheads and switch over to broadheads now 100% of the time. Also got myself a new pack of Muzzy MX-4s. Can't wait to see the lung blood! :D
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Hey PA - No more HOYTS.[:o] I shot the guardian and it is a nice bow. Don't know how I feel yet about the moving riser/pivot points. It's gonna be a tough choice this winter having to figure out which of the new bows I will be getting.
Glad to hear the Velvet is coming off. Can't wait to check things out Saturday. Good luck with the MX-4's. My step son is using those this year. He has not shot them yet but should get a chance this weekend since we hear the rain is "supposed" to stop for a while now. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
I used the MX-4s last year, and I absolutely love them. They fly like bullets, and leave a bloodtrail that a blind person could follow.

RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Have any of you fellow team members tried the new Rage broadheads? Just curious, I've read a lot of reviews that say they are wonderful but, of course, I would rather hear from some hunters that aren't getting paid to say they are great.
|
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
The rage is basically identical to the Rocky Mtn. snyper head.. Which Ive taken 3 animals w/ and will continue to use this year.. .a great head...
really puts the hurt on em... good entry/exit holes and accurate flight. shot an antelope w/ one at 48 yrds, had blood spraying out both sides as it ran all of 30 yrds and dropped. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Hey PA - No more HOYTS. |
RE: 36 Official Team PassThru Thread
Good luck to you guys hunting this weekend. Can't wait till the 15th so I can get out there.
