Gobblergetter volunteered to be the captain, so he's got my vote. By the way - we should all email the captain with our names, phone #'s and home mailing addresses, and he can put them together in a PM and give them out to the team. I know our old team mailed a bunch of stuff back and forth - everything from swapping gear to DU prints to christmas cards. We even had t-shirts made.

Our team (Team XX) won this contest in 2005 (850"), and got second in 2006 (621"). Duke's team finished really strong last year (Bro's). To win it, we'll need at least 7 bucks checked in. Team 17 will probablyscore at least a half-dozen.

Timmy - I'm takin' you down like Barbaro, pal. It's not gonna be pretty. You better load up on your Geritol and Cialis if you're gonna come in here talkin' that kind of smack. Team 13 has a 55-gallon drum of whipazz with your name all over it.

130 - sounds like you've got a really nice place to hunt out there. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be able to control your own herd like that. Around here, the land parcels are too small, and it's just hunted too heavily. I did get into a few exclusive private areas for this season - should pay a dividend.

Season update - They're changing their food sources already. I went out to one of my areas last night and glassed from 7:00-dark. All summer, I've been seeing 25-30 deer/night out there in the soybean fields.Farm isa couple hundredacres - 50/50 corn/soybean.Corn was still immature.

A week ago, I only saw 6 deer in the beans. Corn cobs werestill soft, but you could see where they'd been feeding on the inside corners.

Last night - only 2 stinkin' deer. An all-year low. I figured they were in the corn, so I got up on a high vantage point and I could see the cornstalks shaking in the2 corners bordering the bedding areas- so they were in there. Also pushed a few deer around while I was walking the access rows along the cornfields. All the edges of the corn were already being decimated. They're hammering it.

Amazing how fast things can change. There are heavy bedding areas just off of all the fields - and the deer have already abandoned those bedding areas near the beans (that they've been using since May), and have moved to the beds nearest the corn.

The mosquitoes were out in force. I look like I have smallpox today.

SDHunter, I'm a CISSP too! I work for a consulting firm in Huntsville, AL mostly government contracts, currently fixing some things for an "unnamed" space agency. ;)

SDH - how many touches/game do you think Adrian Peterson is gonna get this season for the Vikes? Fantasy draft is coming up, and he's a guy that I'm looking at as a later round RB.

If GobblerGetter volunteered to be the captain, that sounds fine to me.

We could always narrow down the team name to 2-3 choices and then do a final vote – just a suggestion.

My vote is for either:

Monsters INC. (could still use the mascot?)
FWB's or similar (with mascot)

mcouey – That’s crazy you’re a CISSP too – amazing we ended up on the same team!

quicksilver - Don’t know what to think about Adrian P… I wouldn’t take him very early in the draft with Chester Taylor also taking his fair share of the workload. At this point, it’s hard to say how they will divide the touches and who will get the goal line carries…. They are paying him big time money – so I would guess they’ll use him a fair amount – especially later in the season.

Yeah man, I can't believe you guys didn't go for the bunny. LOL It was our chance at huntingnet glory. How's the wife and baby? Shoot me a PM and catch me up. If I know you guys- I'd reckon you've got some hogs mapped out for this fall.

SDH - I'm thinking the Vikes will use him similar to the Saints and Reggie Bush/Deuce McAllister last year.

Don't quote me on this, but I think somebody used Monsters Inc. last year. Either way, pretty cool name.

Anyway - honestly- what do you guys think your odds are for tagging a bow buck this year?
