I'm going up this weekend, going to try and find some sheds but there is still alot of snow up there.I've been taking my daughter out around the house in differant spots looking and have come up empty. I only have about 5 hours invested so far but did I find a hot spot by the house. It was covered in buck sign I just have to figure out how I can hunt it. Theres a bike path that runs right through the middle of it and its in Milwaukee county. The laws are kind of weird about hunting in city limits.I would hate for a buck to drop infront of some biker.:D

I got another 6 to 8 weeks before I can even think about getting the plots in. I think I'am going to drink alot between now and then. to pass the time. Have a good one Later

Well what can I say I went up north in a middle of a snow storm Will spring ever get here. Went out tromping around in the woods for a little bit but it was a waste of time. 18 + inches of snow on the ground. I did find a couple of new spots to hang stands so it wasn't a total waste.
I was at my neighbors house Friday night and there was 24 Deer in his back yard and 3 of them had antlers starting to grow.we know 1 of the deer was the 1 in the pic. I always thought they didn'y start growing until May but what do I know?

Hey guys, I just got my buck back from the taxidermist and I thought you would like to see it. He has a few battle scars from fighting but it still turned out pretty good. I'm leaving in 2 weeks for Kansas to scout, look for sheds and do some turkey hunting with a bow. Should be fun.

Awesome pics guys. 16 - that mount looks great. Real bruiser you got there.

Sounds like everyone here is already getting their ducks lined up for a good run at a repeat next fall.

Dan, that's gonna be a hog next year, buddy.

I've been walking my ass off every weekend - really focusing my efforts on this Ohio hunting - trying to nail down about 10 solid stand sites for next fall. Ideally, I'd like a few stands in early October feed sources (white/red oak), and several more in pinchpoints/funnels and areas where the prevailing winds/thermals will make it a likely travel route for a seeking buck. I'll save those areas for November.

Right now, I'm up to at least 6 great stands, with another 2-3 that have solid potential.

The area that I'm hunting is all public hunting, and covers about 20K acres, so there's a ton of ground. Problem is, most of it doesn't make for great bowhunting - lots of swampland and ancient coal strips. The good thing is that the coal stripping activity has left the land carved up with huge ledges and deep ravines - which really funnel the deer traffic in certain areas.

I did fine in there last year - considering that I'd never even been there before 10/20. But I just didn't have enough stand sites to play the wind right and move around like I wanted to. I kinda burned them out. That won't be a problem next year.

Here's what I found Saturday. I was almost too embarrassed to even bring it home. LOL Almost.
