That reminds me, I have to get mine cut soon. Did you get those 2 day photos back yet :D.
Thats some mighty fine shooting Tembry, sounds like your ready for the big day! We finely got some rain here, We sure needed it,the grass in the yard sounded like we were walking on peanut shells. Sawwhat looked to be a 4 1/2 year old10pt a short ways from the house the other day, will take a closer look this week. Not a Beast for some states, but a shooter around here for sure, If he gets to close during season I will try an let the air out of him! |
RE: 10 - Official Team 10 Thread
Thats good news Silver! Im going to start checking my cameras at the other farm accross the street from my house this week so I'll hopefully have some new pics and new bucks to look at. I still have 1 camera to pull out at my primary hunting spot which I have to do this week but I wanted to stay out of there until bowseason starts in 2 weeks. I just couldnt carry anymore stuff out when I pulled my other 3 cameras so I left the one closest to my primary stand.

RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
So when are you guys thinking you will have your best shot at taking a buck? I aways have good luck real early in the season, usually the first week or 2 as I spend many hours watching the bucks feeding patterns all summer. Then all the bucks start changing their summer feeding patterns around the last week of Sept to Oct1st which is when my summer feeding patterning gets tossed out the window.
My second best opportunity is right before the rut, and I mean right before like7 to10days before its full blown rut. I usually can pattern does morning and evening feeding patterns and know the big boys will be close by checking and waiting for that first doe to turn the rut on. Once the rut is a few days out of being full blown I seem to have bad luck stoppingbucks when they are chasing does. |

RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Happy Birthday Millertime 10, hope you have a good one!
You think you got your hands full now Mantis, wait till he's born :D. Is this your First? Jim you diden't loose your neighbor on the way in did ya, looked like he was ready to go overboard. Diesel we have the same problem, Season opens Oct 1 and thats right when their changing from summer to fall feeding paterns, plus we get over run with downstaters the first 2 weeks of season, I dont get to excited till they have broken out of their Bachelor groups and start running their rub and scrape lines around the end of Oct. Guy's, I think I have solved the problem of the Space Shuttles Heat tiles poping off! The last time I used the Drift Boat, I had parked it under a pine tree in the yard, well yesterday morning I went out to get it ready for a day on the River, and it had Pine Sap all over it. Took me two hours with a pocket knife and Goo be Gone, and by the time I was done I had that crap all over me! Will check in later to see whats going on, and try to keep us on the first page. |
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Haha Silver, I had acar sitting outside of a buddys chassis shop waiting for them to put in a roll cage. They moved my car under a pine tree, sat there for 3 weeks. Needless to say it took me days to get all the sap off, was hideous.

RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Woah!! Thats a real nice buck Jim!! Any idea of he was killed last season??
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
ive been busy lately, but not really with hunting stuff. i stay completely out of my hunting area for atleast 2 weeks before the opener which is sept 1st.
i gotta agree with the real early season statement. i think thats my best chance at getting a crack at one of these big boys ive been watchin ina bachelor group. once october hits, im goin to try my best to find a white oak patch that i can hunt in my climber over, i know that these places are honey hole that time of year, just never been succesful in finding one, but new land this year so maybe it will work out. so my schedule will be as follows unlessi tag out obviously september- summer feeding patterns; bachelor groups october- white oak patch; travel corridors november- hunt where the does are probably over travel corridors again december- hunt over any leftover food sources january- if im still out hunting, it will be over food sources, but january is duck hunting time. |
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Man youre right on the same track as I am T. That sums my hunting patterns perfectly. Hopefully we get ours in the first pattern month on the list :D
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Sorry guys...I left my laptop at the firehouse while I was off for 4 days. I've been having Internet withdrawl symptoms. Checked out the new property on Sunday. Looks like I've got access to a travel corridor. The timber was cut last year so there are still a lot of tree tops around, but the deer have a couple of trails beat down through there. Put the camera out with some corn and I'll probably check it this coming weekend. I checked another area Monday that I hunted last year and it looks HOT!! I don't know if there are big bucks around but definately a bunch of deer. It is a wooded creek bottom about 80 yards wide that runs from big woods to crop fields. One side of the finger is planted in soy beans and the other in milo. The deer have literally tilled the ground in there.

RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Sweet, man you must be real anxious to get set up in this spot Firemed. Nothing like the anticipation of hunting a new and promising location, makes it even more of a rush sitting in the stand.
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Jeez weve slowed down to a crawl lol. I'll be heading out to get new pics from my other farm property today. I guess theres no point in posting pics when no ones on here anymore lol.
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Diesel head over to Chaos, we love pictures!!!!!
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
lets see the pics diesel, i love seeing them.....ive got a wildview camera in the mail comin my way right now. i heard they are the best camera for the money...and even if i heard wrong im only out 100 bucks rather than 400. My friend over from western ky has about 10 or 12 trail cams and after sampling alot of them, he said this is his favorite camera and by far the best you can get for the money.
too late to put it up in my hunting area, but i figured id stick it up on one of my other hunting spots, just to get some inseason scouting, see whats there when im not lol. probably will just make me pissed off i wasnt hunting there, but owell. what kind of cameras you usin D? |
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Im still here Diesel only 17 More days !
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
I saw may first buck today in my plot, just a six with no brow tines, maybe next year.
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
No pics of any decent bucks at the property I hung one of cameras at last week. Went to the main property I hunt to the new spot I hung another cameraa few hundred yards away. Some of the same bucks, some new ones but my camera only took 309 pics and the batteries were dead. Usually I get 700 to 900 pics, not sure what happened. Anyway, nothing spectacular but a few nice ones. No pics of any bucks in daylight on either camera.

Nice pics Diesel. The closeup of that brut in the last photo is nice. Is he a 9 pt (maybe 140ish)?
T - my buddy is using wildview cameras. They seem to take good pics, definately a heck of a lot easier to program. I have to toggle through modes and different selections on my moultrie - I spent a1/2 hr trying to remember how set it up this year. The wildview he is using has 4 switch selectors - takes him about 3 sec. |
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
TE Im using StealthCam's. Easiest Ive used and they rarely miss anything that walks by.
|
RE: 10 - Official Team Germ Warfare Thread
Diesel77, nice, very nice....good odds..best of luck to you.
