went out this afternoon and had a great time. around 4:40 a spike and four pointer come moving through just out of range, about fifty yards out. around thirty minutes later 5:10 i hear movement behind me, i turn and see antlers coming towards me from about 100 yards down the trail through the brush. i stand turn around and get the bow ready, i was sure it was going to be an eight pointer and it was my time. i could tell it was a decent basket rack, so i pulled back and when it stepped out in the open settled my pin...then i realized it was a six pointer.....i contemplated the shot for what seemed like an eternity, but decided this wasnt the right buck to be my first with a bow...ive been at it for three years passin bucks like this, and didnt want to let my self down by settling now. it would have been an eight if it had brow tines. just a basket rack right at his ears, looked young 1.5 and like he had goodpotential based on the mass and spread for that little rack. anyway, he finally left and i was happy i let him go. hopefully it will pay off later this year.

not ten minutes after that i see gray movement through the brush ahead of me. i first thought squirrel, but when i realized it was much to big i stood up and got the bow ready. i figured it was a coyote. as dry as it was, i couldnt for the life of me figure out how this thing was so quiet. it was literallya ghost, i knew where it was but i still lost it like 3 times before it finally stepped into a clear lane in front of me about 50 to 60 yards away. it was a freakin bobcat! i was stoked. this is the second year in a row that i have seen one in this area. i thought he may put a stalk on a squirrel that was about 5 yards from my tree, but instead he kept ghosting through the woods. he was making QUICK time and made literally ZERO noise. pretty scary thought[&:] i would have stuck him if he would have been only 15 yards closer, it was a perfect shootin lane.

ive always wanted a bobcat mount

i have been losin thewill to keep goin outwith few sightings this year but a hunt like this refuels me for another month or so lol. great day in the woods. cant hunt tomorow, but ill be back saturday am, hopefully with a doe or 8 pointer+ walkin by.

Yeah and I didn't go to my spot yesterday...I went as close as I could and still cheat the wind. I was probably within oh 150 -200 yards down below where I wanted to be. Thought I could still cut the trail one of the shooters walked on without being winded.

Well I played the wind good.. The shooters just chose not to participate..lol My little buddy, the 1 horned 3 point made his rounds on the scrapes rubs, licking branches, I saw 2 other doe ..then at dark 3 Deer (no big horns thats for sure) walked by just as my bow hit the ground.

AND boy I wish fox was in I had this little guy chasing monks all around me..it was very entertaining. I watched the same stump (same chipmonk?) get dove on by a hawk (missed) and then rushed by a fox (also missed) thats one lucky chipmonk. lol

Yeah I saw GR8, thnx bro.

TE, Ive seen one bobcat 1 time while hunting in PA, was incredible.

Man, it sounds like everyone is SOOOOOOOOOOO close to scoring almost every night. My 2 week vacation starts after work today so Im really pumped. If I get a shooter before my 2 weeks is up, I'll go back to work and save a little vaca for skiing with the wife and friends as well as traveling to some hunting shows. My wife is praying I get onethis weekendhehe.

Well at least you had an exciting evening Jim.

I shot at a nice buck tonight. Ended up being a gut shot. You can read the details on the main board if you want. One of those things. Going back in the AM to look for him. Cross your fingers, Im still kicking myself.

Best of luck to you all, I will check in if I can get my hands on a PC down there, if not Ill post soon as I can.

Thanks guys for all the positive encouragement, means alot. My worst fear is not if I do or dont recover him , its mortally wounding him and not finding him, that will eat me up more than anything. Soon as I find out any news good or bad I'll post it tomorrow.
