Yeah my big concern was staying out of the woods but at this point MT, Im probabky better off looking for a scrape line liek you said.
More info regarding my concerns. I emailed a whitetail research biologistabout the lack of water and what concerns/effects it could have on the property. His reply was short and sweet. He said deer need to drink once a day, however, they can survive several days or longer without any water. They will eventually move to a location that easily provides them with ample water that is easily acccessible without having to travel far.
Well based on that and not having ANY water within a mile or further in any direction, I think my questions are answered. Im sure there are still some deer around as proof by my camera, but I also think many have left. Wait until you see some pics, these deer look horrible, like anorexic deer, poor things. Dehydration obviously. I'll post one when I get home. Look at the pic of the normal Doe I took around Sept 15th, nice and healthy, when you see these things you may not even eat them, all bones and ribs.

You're right, she really doesn't look too healthy. Hopefully she stays healthy enough to take care of that young one next to her. Having spots after the 1st of Oct.? Looks like a late birth. She probably got bred in the 2nd or sometimes even the 3rd estrous period.
Hope you guys get some rain soon. We were in a similar drought here in Oklahoma for the past 3 or 4 years until this year. This year was one of he wettest and mildest years on record, it really gave us a lot of relief. Maybe you all will get what we did soon. This weather the last several years has been crazy.

AS for the Avatar...I'll be back on the Team bus Next week. Just a little support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mom who under went a little procedure this week..All is well..Thanks for your concern.
Last night I saw 2 bucks a little tiny, fork-horn, barely ear high! and another buck that I deemed "Chocolate horns" he is a the closest thing to a shooter i've seen. I never got to see both sides or a front view..I was watching him through trees at a distance...there was no score estimation..it was just one of them bucks that what ya seen was enough to know.. But damn was I back in there..in fact i will have to shoot the bow tonight..to check it, we took a hard spill on a creek crossing..trying to sneak out the opposite way quietly
.
Can't hunt today I'm on kid duty while the wife works a craft show..but tommorrow i'll be out and I think I talked dad into joining me in the afternoon. Looking forward to that!
Oh yeah in this funny season..I'm at 7 different bucks ZERO doe. Weird huh?

Glad to hear the your Moms surgery went well. That stuff worries me all the time.
Went back to my dried up property this morning to remove stands, cameras etc. Walked the creek bottom and found 6 dead deer. 3 Does, 2 fawns and a spike. All laying in what was left of the last bit of moisture, now a mud hole thats about a foot deep from them digging down for water, was sad to see that they are suffering like that.

Well my latest adventure is posted on main board.

Long story short...saw another good buck although not a good scoring buck..3.5-4.5 year old mature awesome one side, butwith a 14-16 inch spike on the other. Unique and mature enough I'd have lanced him..given the chance.
He was scraping, rubbing, and working licking branches. Hung up at 68 yards!
