Hey all. I haven't been completely gone. I have been reading everyone's post staying up on what has been going on, just haven't had anything to post myself. I have averaged about 100 hrs per week at the firehouse the last two weeks so I haven't been out...Just watching the leaves change colors and daydreaming about being in the woods.
Taking my oldest son out this weekend for youth weekend, but will definately have my bow for turkey or if he fills his tag early deer for the rest of the weekend. Just checked the weather - should be excellent. 50% chance of rain through Frinight then partly cloudy and cool Sat and Sun. High of 60s and lows of 35. I should have a few evenings to hunt next week, then I'm off from 11/4-11/19. Good luck to everybody this weekend.

My buddy Dan shot this guys tonight in the pooring rain with his Mathews Drenalin. His right brow was mostly broken off, his left side brow was broken missing an inch or 2, and his left side G1 was broken off. He was chasing Does when we he walked by ay 25 yards. He still has 1 bow buck tag and when he was field dressing this guy a 10 pt he has been after came within range chasing a Doe, his bow was 5 feet from him so he just watched them pass by at 15 yards.
I had a few Does come by tonight. I also saw a few Does coming running out to a field as they were looking back. They stood there looking back into the woods then trotted off. Never saw what spooked them. It was raining cats and dogs tonight and I left my umbrella sitting on a table in my shop lol. Was a wet evening to say the least. At least it wasnt to cold.

Anyone else taking a vacation for the rut? I have off Nov 3rd thru Nov 18th. Hopefully I will be able to score during those 2 prime weeks.

Nice buck and sweet camo he has
. As for vacation, I'm kinda screwed, I had to use a week when I had surgery. SO I'm stuck using weekends and evenings.
Next year I get 4 weeks so that will be soooo much better!
Sorry to hear of the wash-out Tembry..You got a plan "B" ?

drove the thirty minute drive to my hunting spot (creek bottoms), get down to the bottom field and it is now considered a bottom lake. no way to get across it to the woods i hunt without chest waders. atleast a couple feet deep. not to mention that once i got there the actual woods themselves are about two feet deep. i am TICKED, cuz now im outta there for atleast 4 + days till it all drains. rained nonstop for the third day today dont look like itll let up tomorow either. already at 6 inches in the past three days, so says my friend who has a rain gauge. idk about the accuracy.
ill load up pics of my honey hole deer spot now turned honey hole duck spot lol.

These are of the shallow end lol....yea i gotta a plan c actually. this place was plan b.
my first place got dried out real bad and hit with EHD im 99% sure.....smelled bad down near the creek and the only deer we saw on stand that weekend was so skinny it looked like it was goin to die.
this place was lookin up with some shooter bucks being spotted, but is temporarily out of service lol. the deer will just be pushed up to the neighbors higher ground for the moment. it should be dried back out and pickin back up for the peak of rut tho.
my uncles farm, third place, isnt much for deer hunting. it is surrounded by awesome deer hunting but his actual land doesnt have anything to offer to the deer that they dont already have plus more on the neighboring farms. We still spot deer there and have seen STUDS roaming the woodlot he does have, but it seems like we have had less and less spottings each year. this farm is loaded with turkey tho.
So i still have three setups to use currently, but my favorite will be under water for a few days. plus i imagine it will take up to a week for deer to get back to normal in the area, but ill be hunting it as soon as the water leaves.

Hot damb ,I saw a buck tonight, two year old 8 point I let him walk twice in bow season and twice more in rifle season last year.
If he makes it one morehe will be a real dandy next year.

Bowling Green KY. hour north of Nashville TN....i guess its south central ky but were definitely huggin the western side of the state. rain gauges have been up to 9 or even 10" in the past four days.
funny thing is is that ALL of that water will be gone by this weekend at the latest. It seems to happen EVERY year at some point, but i didnt expect it to be prime bowhunting time.....
i remember in 2004 when i killed my 8 pointer, this was the exact same scenario. the whole bottoms were flooded so we setup about 100 yards from where the pics were taken.....that mornin a HUGE 10 or 12 came outta those woods in the deep water, once he reached dry land he shook him self off like a dog....something i will never forget. then i shot my 8 later on in the morning....we caught him skirtin the edges of the flood on the parkway bank...he finally hopped the fence back over into the field where it was dry and game over. best morning ive ever spent in a treestand with dad.
ill set up somewhere on the edges of this water come sunday or monday if the water is still around..if not ill head back into the woods again.

I saw a buck last night. I walked up on him on my way in, I had my climber on my back and looked over and said whoa thats a deer. He was feeding and never knew I was there. He was 40 yards. Nice wide, I dunno spike? He had a good spread out past the ears but I couldn't put a tine on'em anywhere. I just snuck off in the opposite direction. It wasa new area..I wasn't happy with my stand placement at all but time was limited and I had to pick a tree. So on stand I saw nothing but A racoon squirrels and about a zillion chipmunks.
These winds are sooo screwy this year we should be predominantly from the NNW...We are getting S SW yesterday was East and todat is South East! Thats why I'm doing so much stand jumping..and it really has me confused. Again today, I had a good plan for tonight but it doesn't jive with this wind!
