didnt make it out today...at all. worked on myh truck till noon or one, then after realizing the wind was CRAP....AGAIN.....i decided i would hit up the Eric Church concert, which was pretty good i thought. ill be knocking down doves tomorow afternoon, so looks like itll be afterschool this week before i can go again.

Here are some pics from Friday evening of my main farm I hunt. 2,000 acres. Its almost 1.5 miles long ofstrait woodline with some fingers, pockets etc... its actually tough to hunt a large property like this just because of the size. There is a creek that runs parallel to the woodline sothere is no real funnel areas except for some fingers dumpin into the field which is where I have stand hung for early season when they are all still feeding on beans, especially where fingers start and have lower areas that the deer are hidden from the main filed elevation as they enter the field. After early season I hunt hardwoods near creeks that are between thickets and bedding areas but I havent been in the woods at all sice July when I hung my stands close to where the bigger bucks have been entering the field.

another view of the same stand, there are actually 2 islands about 30 yards out from the main woodline which funnels the deer around or between the 2 islands which makes an easy 30 yard shot no matter which way they go around the island Im in

Sliver, My foots getting better everyday. I'm a step slower but I don't see how it's going to hamper me in anyway for the season.

Mornin team:) Just stopping in to say hi and good luck to all who gets a start before me. I'm prolly the last to enter into a season with an Oct. 13 opener. I may be stepping out for a couple weeks at any time now so if you don't see me around little Maddox was born and I'm busy. I should getcable hooked up now huh? Maybe I'll call today.

Gr8 I was cutting wood last week and being a fool I was using my big saw A Stilh 039 without a compression release , its an older saw.
I was about done when I picked up the hot saw to finish a cut that had not gone thru a log. I grabbed the cord and gave a quick jerk...bad move,the saw fired when I had gotten only about 10 inches into the pull as a result the saw pulled the cord and handle back thru my hand basically pulling the last three fingers about off and in the process separated my wrist from my arm. not something I would recommend anyone trying at home. :eek:

I will be hunting when possible ,I might even be hunting every day, I have AFLC disability insurance .;)
But if you guys want me to back out and get a replacement for the team from Rob its OK with me.Our season hasn't started so I don't think he would care.
Let me know what you think.

And how many guys are we still missing?

On a lighter side do any of you need a safety harness. If so let me know I have several that have never been used. I buy lots of stands.;)

I will give one to any of you that needs one.Or even if you got a friend or neighbor in need get me the word and its yours.

Ouch sorry to hear that Jim.. There is NO WAY we would want a replacement! If you can draw your bow, we want you! It's a team Brother..It's a team! You guys choose me as a Captian when you didn't even know 100% if I'd be able to function to 1/2 my ability! (but I will be at 100% ok 98%....[:-])

As for the harness's a generous offer. I to, have a few extra's that came with various stands..although I'd hate to offer them cuz they are so frigging complicated. I went with the Hunter Safety System Vest.

Gotta love the old Aflac..I know it always seemed like a rip-off until I got hurt! But alas I didn't have it! [:o]

yea concert was great....got rear ended by some girl on the way out, but had my ball hitch in, so didnt make it to my bumber, just put a hole in hers, so she decided to drive away with it and not mess with it.[:-]

Diesel, no im not a dealer, just a believer lol. Heck i dont even turn 17for a couple months!:D I really like his calls, and he is local guy so i thought i would spread his name out there. I believe he is the one making Heartland Bowhunter's new turkey calls (Michael Hunsuckers Group). have to double check that tho.

been raining the last two days, but needed it bad. I think ill be headin out sometime this week, but forsure this weekend. i'm beginning to worry about this blue tongue though. we didnt see the bachelor group where we practically knew we would see them, and deer are dropping left and right around here from it. talked to a guy yesterday who found 12 on his farm alone just ridin horses.[:@]

Yikes, thats some bad news about the deer becoming I'll. Its rainy and a cold front is moving through. Supposed to be 70 for the high Sat, it was 96 last Sat.

Yeah we have a nice spell of weather coming..may not hit 70's here this weekend. That'll be a nice change and the deer should be moving Diesel.
I'm jealous already! I hope you put down one of them Dandy's but I know it'll be a moving expirience just being out there again.

I'm just checking in. I tried to a few days ago and couldn't log in. I cleared the cookies, cache, and everything, but still no go. Anywho, I am logged in now and just seeing how everyone is doing.

Oh yeah, I meant to say something.....I heard something neat in my Art History class the other day. We were talking about some old painting or sculpture relief and it had the four horsemen in it. I can't remember all of it, but I remember the teacher talking about the one horseman with a Bow and Arrow. He said that he represented disease. And his quote was cool and I remembered it.

He said, "Disease, like the arrow, strikes unseen."

Pretty neat.

I'm logged in!!!! FINALLY! I've been trying for a week. Weird stuff just kept happening, different computers too. Got a bunch of pics from the camera last week. Here are two of the biggest deer that showed up during the three days the battery worked. Got about 75 photos with deer, 50 blank before the battery went dead. Anyway, the cold front sounds great for this weekend - low 50s at night, low-mid 70s for a high. Get a breeze blowing in my favor and it will be a beautiful day to be in a tree.

went dove hunting this afternoon, 4 man shoot and put down 47 birds. had three more drop that we couldn't for the life of us find. it was a great shoot, and we saw so many birds we are gunna hit it again in a week.

i shot 16, found 14with about 40 shells, not bad for me lol. especially since im counting what we call keep em flyin shots, lol. had a streak where i dropped 7 on seven shots, then unloaded my gun twice without droppin a bird.

saturday morning gotta work, so it looks like i wont get to bowhunt till saturday pm or sunday am. o well ill take what i can get at this point.
