Allrighty then.

I couldn't bring myself to send you my two used LSU hats, so I'm gonna be a nice guy and give you a choice:

Choice 1 = the Les Miles big white hat:

Choice 2 is in camo:

Of course, I'm tempted to send you one of these:

I went out this morning, just down the road a bit. I saw 2 does and a small 8 point. None of them in range. It is really amazing how much better they show up in the woods with a little snow/sleet on the ground. They lose their advantage in the woods.

I might go out tonight or I may be going to a deer hunting banquet put on by the archery shop I bought my bow from. Kinda depends on what the weather is doing by then.

Just got back in from my stand. I had to keep cleaning the ice off of my arrow, we had freezing drizzle this afternoon. OH, and Germ I opened up my Rage head every so often too just in case it wanted to freeze shut. It was pretty nasty for a sit without seeing a single deer. But I still have 2 buck tags here in MO. And there are a couple of nice ones roaming the subdivision. Just gotta get them figured out again. The woods is looking totally different from what it did before gun season. Doing a little scouting from my stand right now. Then I will make my move based on what I see. The deer do become a little more predictable this time of year.

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

Arrow, dang man, you've been putting the time in, I hope one gives you a shot soon!

I scouted and moved stands both Sat and Sunday. Used the fresh snow here to find some big tracks ( all loners in some good shedding areas) and just hiked all over my hunting areas, bumped a few does. It was cool out down in the single digits Sat morning then pretty nice yesterday in the 20's.

Hunting the hardway right now, the deer sign (doe family group after family group I checked on were void of big tracks) and lack of movement tells me its rest time for most of the deer this week. Archery season opens back up again today. My best stand sites are set up right on the edges or in the middle of big "shedding" areas full of the right feed. No baiting here, gotta kill them on the natural stuff and there is miles of it. Without snow, I can't imagine trying to pick a spot.

Peace out.. I'llbe hunting this evening. I'm looking forward to cold arse weather and a chance at a big late season bruiser.

Good luck to the rest of team 43.

You and Germ should get together and check out the freezability of various broadheads... or both of you should check into a psych ward:D

Here you go fellas, the deer are right here in this comfortable padded wall room.

J/K I hope you guys down some real freaks. You definitely deserve it after all the time and effort. Now I am going back to sit in front of the warm fire;)

Germ,

Is your AD still sailing around on his yacht? Bobby Petrino at Arkansas? Dammit.

Just what we need in the SEC West, another good 2-3 million dollar coach. These are the coaches in
just the SEC West:

Miles
Petrino
Saban
Tuberville
Croom
Nutt

ACKKK. Anyway, birth is tomorrow morning (getting some last news in and had to needle you on
losing Petrino), will post pics of my pride and joy later. :D

Troy, at least you get an hour and a half. I get home around 4 and sunset is about 4:35 nowadays. I am just hunting weekends and holidaysthe rest of the season. Unless I take some more vacation.

I am going to IL this Saturday to see if I can fill my doe tag, and look at 85 acres of hunting property just down the road from where I hunt. It is 90% woods with 11 acres tillable. With 5 acres of that in CRP. This sounds like just what I am looking for. Gotta check it out!!

John,

Yeah, I suppose you have a point there, at least I have some time to get to a few close stands.Problem here is,most of the big boys dont hang out very close to the roads or home, it takes some hiking into the mountains to get to their hang-outs.

Good luck this weekend toeveryone hunting, my cousin is on his way today and we'll be after them the next four days.

Troy,
Good luck to you & Scott. Tell him I said hi.

Its doe only in my unit right now. Going to hunt from some observation stands for when bucks come back in after christmas.

Thanks Ryan, I'll let Scott know you said hello. He's bringing both his bows, I have one pretty tight spot max shot about 20 yards that he wants to use his long bow at... Be neat if he kills his first deer with his long bow this weekend! I am sure hoping he does.

Good luck with the shelas.. and I hope you see a buck or two to get after for the late season!

Hunted this morning in the snow. No deer but I saw 3 turkeys about 75 yards away.

Then I went and walked the 85 acres I am thinking about buying. It is deer heaven. 5 acres in crp along a creek, about 75 acres of HILLY woods, I mean some serious hills here, and a 5+ acre field of brush and saplings. There were deer tracks everywhere in the snow, and we jumped 5 or 6 out of the brushy field. Lots of turkey tracks too. Then we walked down a ridge and there were 11 beds in the snow on it. It only started snowing at midnight. I am putting a contract on it tomorrow. This is my dream property. Here are a couple of aerial photos with the prop lines.

I am already planning on where to put stands.:)

Nice piece of ground you picked up John! Good luck with that land.

Scott and I hunted till Sat, he had to head home Sunday.

He had a good time and was at full draw on 2 does, about 12-15 yards..he passed on them, then one small buck with half a 6x side rack..... passed on him and then he got the big buck a nice 4x4 comeby and he was at full draw on him for a good minute or so waiting for him to take one more step at 26 yards.. No dice, thebuck caught a whiff of him or something and whirled and left..

Me,I didnt see chit in 3 days. :DFun fun fun..

wind sucked here this weekend too.. Gary.. lots of swirling in my areas with the thermalsbanking off of thestorms moving in and out.

I checked the snow here morning and night.. deer movement was almost all at night around my spots.. I think they just laid in their beds and laughed at me all weekend and got up and walked out behind me, because I had tracks in my tracks daily! LOL

Good luck !

Back guys - 3 days in hospital, lil baby girl up all night, internet out at work and work load kicking my arse. :D

Baby and mom are healthy. Will hopefully post a couple pics soon. She is a cutey!

Maybe you guys were right about hunting after the birth, it's looking like a tough deal.
Deer sightings are way down anyway, but pre-rut has started, so I expect to hear some
reports of buck sightings/kills soon. Gonna try to get some time in around Christmas/New Years -
we shall see.

Good to see the hardcore guys (who already have trophies to their credit) are still after it. That's
dedication there.

Congrats on Rodriguez Germ. Let's hope that he wasn't a fluke in the Big East - but I think he was
pretty good at Tulane from what I heard.

Congrats on the new addition, Will. Glad everything worked out like it was supposed to. Guess you'll be busy for a while now, huh?;)

I have been seeing deer in a yard I have permission to hunt in the subdivision, on just about every trip home this week. The problem is once I get home and showered it is almost dark. I am gonna see if I can get there this weekend and fill a late season tag.

Come on guys, lets see if we can make a late season charge and give the front runners something to think about. I killed my highest scoring buck on Jan. 2nd back in 2000. There are still big bucks out there.

But it seems we are playing with a short team lately. It's hard to compete when some of the team has stopped playing. I can't believe we haven't heard from a few teammembers since forever!![:@][:'(]
