RE: Hmmm
Troy how is your son doing? i was thinking about that the other day. :)
ORIGINAL: shed33 Happy New Years fellas. Good luck to you guys still getting after it! peace/out |
Team 43
Well guys it has been busy.
Jeff knows My Father(we don't talk much) about died New Years Eve. I spent the last two days of the season in the hospital. I was only going to hunt Jan 1st, but that got canceled. Now the question of who is going to take care of him, he is unable to take care of himself. He has 0 money, and is about 50-60 grand in debt. My sister and I have had many talks, and we have a choice. A choice I pray none of you ever have to make. Help him or watch him die. Ohio is pretty much out at this point, I still am going to try and go. Just too many things going on. I am coaching Basketball and really pumped about it. Troy I hope your son isgetting better. Just was not my year, take the good with the bad;) I enjoyed being on this team, I really should have connected in KY. I really screwed up. Gary |
RE: Team 43
Gary, Hope everything works out for you and your family. Fortunatly I haven't had anything like that to deal with. Closest I've come is when my dad had to have emergency quad by pass surgery several years ago while they were in Florida. It does make you think about all kinds of stuff. I'll be praying for you and your family !
It's been great to be on Team Chaos and have you as our captain. I'm gonna try to meet up with you guys at H-H this year ( to hunt this time). |
RE: Team 43
Sorry to hear that about your Dad Gary. Hope things work out for you and your family.
You know as well as anyone when you only target those big boys you will have seasons when they win. Specially when there is only one of them in the neighborhood. This has been a fun team to be a part of this season. We might not win the contest, but I do believe we set a record for # of posts. I think we were playing shorthanded for a good bit of the season too. A few "teammates" were MIA since right after things got going. I know I sure had a good time this year and hope to keep in touch with a few of you guys. Maybe even share a hunting camp if that works out too. Anybody besides me and Germ have plans to be at this years HNI get together? |
RE: Hmmm
Troy your pm box is full.
I sent you an email yesterday. And I got the package today. That was just too cool. |
RE: Hmmm
Hunting.net camp is a great time!!!

RE: Hmmm

|
RE: Hmmm

RE: Hmmm

RE: Hmmm
At least you have a known "adversary". I don't know mine.............................................. .............yet;)
|
RE: Hmmm
I am gonna give it a couple more shots this weekend then it's all over for me. MO closes on the 15th and IL closes on the 17th. I can still shoot a buck in MO, but does only in IL.
This has been a fun season being on Team Chaos. We certainly had the liveliest thread in the contest. I'll have to ask Justin if we set a record for # of posts in one thread. Stay in touch GUYS. |
RE: Hmmm
Fat chick sing yet here on Chaos?
John, most definately I look forward to keeping in touch .. You had a great season John, considering all you went through.. Gary, sorry about the father and the tough season, those tough ones as you know only make us better.. imo Jeff, really nice season you had.... You had some tough tims and kicked butt and took a top end buck for your area.. Honestly.. thats more than a lot of seasoned bowhunters will ever get to experience.. I appreciated your honesty too in your threads this year.. about every shot... the mishaps and tough times not edited out! Good luck next fall. Arrow, you really worked hard this year, I wish you could have scored.. I hope we can stay in touch! Rob, I hope you get that first buck kill! enjoy those harleys and your new places to hunt! Will, hope all is well with you and yours.. Let me know if your coming out for bear! It looks like my cousin will be up one3 day weekend to film me Hunt lady.. hope all is well with you and yours.. Huntmup.. you still chasing that 200 buck around.. if so send me a darned pix.. I still havent seen on in the woods on the hooF! Tlutter... u still around??? Good team guys, fun year.. enjoyed it all.... Troy |
RE: Hmmm
Well
Headed out hunting next weekend, wanted to go this week but too busy. I just arrange it with the wife. I will be in Ohio and I am not going to be picky. I will be hunting public land. |
RE: Hmmm
My season is over. MO season closes Jan 15th and IL closes the 17th. I went out tonight and saw 2 does in the neighborhood, just not close enough for a shot. By the time I get home from workthere isn't enough time to shower and get in the woods. So unless there is one standing in my yard and I can sneak out of the house after him I am calling it quits.
I've had a good season this year. Got a good buck and took a doe in the neighborhood. I have killed more in other years, but my priorities have changed lately. I am more into quality now, and not shooting every doe that walks by just in case a big buck might be following her. It was pleasure being a member of Team Chaos this season. WE had high expectations and had some other teams scared at the begining of the season. Things just didn't work out for enough of us this year. Good luck to the rest of you guys and gal in the upcoming seasons. And I am sure I will be hearing from most of you on here again. Maybe even meet a few at this years get together, or possibly share a hunting camp in the future. Take care, John |
RE: Hmmm
Gary, I wasn't sure if you were finished up or not. Good luck over therein Ohio. I hope you get a crack at a nice buck!
|
RE: Hmmm
So what's the braggin rights on the XX vs Bros?;)
|
RE: Hmmm
To all....I had a blast getting to know you guys, better. I'll hang out and check in......as long as this is up.
Troy, JM, Germ.......class acts....all of you. Friends.;) To the rest of you guys...(and lady;)).....I was pulling for you all. Still am. Have a good one. |
RE: Hmmm
Enjoyed the team this year. Great group of guys. Wish we could have all hunted together, drank beer
and shot the breeze. Troy, I'm mulling it over. About to start building a new house and with 5 week old, it is becoming a very tough decision. I will PM you shortly. Sorry I couldn't come through this year team - had an early chance and blew it. IMO, that deer is dead, hasn't showed up on any cam since. :( As I told you guys, I hunted the rut last weekend (it's true). Dad got a nice 100" 8 point that weighed 210lbs, buddy saw a nice 7 point, but passed (needs 1 more year), and I saw the beast of our woods - a 10 point that I have been told is about 140". There is a reason those bucks get old (as the cliche goes). As you guys may know, we have palmettos which don't allow you to see for 3 or 4 feet. Well, I found a rubline along this ditch and hunted it in the morning. The wind was good all morning and according to forecast (N to NW). About 7:30, first saw his rack about 200 yards coming from the NNE. I could not get a good look at his body, as he moved slowly and stayed hidden (using the ditch, brush and palmettos). He slowly (very slowly) took about 15 minutes to work his way to about 100 yards (I mostly got glimpses of only antler). Around this time I noticed that some strong gusts started blowing straight out the west. I could have probably taken a neck shot at 100 yards (rifle), but (1) didn't think it was high percentage, (2) couldn't get a great look, and (3) thought he might work towards me. Well, instead of cutting over this small ridge about 50 yards away (where the deer trail is and I expected him to go), he looped down and directly downwind. Then I just saw his arse crashing away. It was intense though! I didn't move a muscle, so I'm pretty sure it was my scent (I showered, washed clothes, and all the precautions, but it's no match for a mature buck's nose). I'm going to try again in a couple weeks (with bow). I've still got some ideas. The bucks are finally moving. I think I found the big boy's bedding area. It will take some luck though! It's been a rough year, but a good learning experience (some here, and some out in the field). Enjoyed the team this year. John and Troy, those are some impressive animals! Thanks again for captaining the ship, Germ! |
RE: Hmmm
Will,
Glad to hear your dad got one, sounds like you had one close.. Good to hear you have next week with the bow as well. Be great for you and Gary to score before this contest is over! Hey if your building a new house and you have a 5 month old.. Just from personal experience with both of those... YOU may wanna pic another year to bear hunt! LMAO ... When we built on to our house.. HOLY chit were we busy.. and it can bestressful.. You dont wanna leave momma home alone during those times! But what ever you want bud, Ill be hunting bear hard in May and early June.. Troy |

Good to hear from you I wore that damn LSU hat to ohio this last weekend, I almost died[8D] |
RE: Hmmm
Troy,
My wife is being quite the big lady about it and trying to keep her word, but uhh, I do value my marriage. :D I have a 5 week old and a 19 month old! Leaving this last weekend was hard on her. When I got home my 19 month old got instantly excited, then she started pouting and wouldn't look me in the eyes or give me a kiss or hug. It was too funny. I think she was showing me she was upset I was gone a couple days. [8D] She snapped out of it after about a minute. Anyway, it's probably not fair to any other potential takers for me to deliberate any longer, I will talk it over with the wife pretty good tonite. I was really looking forward to it. Not just for bear, but seeing an incredible part of the country I've never been to. Germ, that's awesome about da hat. I bet you had a lot of explaining to do. Your team didn't do so bad either. Y'all looked a lot better than the suckeyes! Well, they won one for the gipper. Saw where Mallet is going to ArKansas. Great, that's just what we need in the SEC West = more talent. Alabama has a top 3 recruiting class as well. Ahh, well, whatever doesn't kill makes you stronger and that's why LSU bounced back so well in the big game. They are used to the competition! Well, it's about like old days here with the posting, but have to get back to my work. |

Hey Will, glad to hear you are still out in the field and had some action. Maybe you can sneak away from those 2 yuggins another time or or two yet this season and get one down.
It sounds like you will be a busy man for a while with 2 in diapers and trying to build a house too. You need a clone, man. |
RE: Hmmm

RE: Hmmm
This place is a ghost town!
Last weekend sucked - saw one doe. Of course the weekend before (when I couldn't go) my dad got another 8 point and my brother wounded a big buck but couldn't recover him (second chance he blew this season). My dad is rubbing in his 2 8's pretty good. FYI, they aren't our biggest on cam (have 3 bigger deer), but they were both at least 3.5 years and one scored 98 (215 lb and 19" spread with no damn tine length) and the other 103 (210 lb), so it was nice to see our work paying off. The rut is now over and they are all pressured up, but I will be back out (hopefully) for some final bowhunting the weekend of Feb. 7th. It will be after 2 weeks of no gunshots and 4 wheelers, so I'm optimistic about the hail mary. Just taking a doe with the bow will redeem this not so great (considering my effort) season. It sucks that our team wasn't in the running cause I'm competitive, and it pisses me off that I didn't contribute, but I've enjoyed being on this Team. |

Snow, never heard of it. [8D] It's all relative, my in-laws are always making us bundle up the girls when its 50 outside for that 15' trek to the pre-warmed car. Then of course they get hot, then the cycle repeats itself. Oh, the joys. |
