I talked to huntm up today via pm. He just got home from a huntin trip and leaves again on Friday, for the rest of the month. He PASSED on a 150 buck on the first day of the hunt, because he has consistantly seen 4 bucks better than 170 on this farm while scouting. Then the heat came and shut things down.

I gave him my cell# and e-mail. He is gonna let us know if he scores. I got his e-mail too.

I didn't get out tonight, it was still 84* when I got home. So I got the grass cut and fixed a screen door that had a bad roller. getting set for the weekend.Gonna make it out tomorrow for sure. It is supposed to be in the 70's. I can handle that!!

Glad to hear you are going to be back hunting Troy.

I hope it cools down for the rest of the team too. It will be a welcome relief.

Ok I will be hunting at the end of the small field where it narrows down. North is top(up) on this map.

Wind will be out of the west. The deer will be bedded down NE of my location and W of me in the front field(corn) next to the house. The field to my East(biggest one) is CRP, the one to the south and narrows down is beans. We call this 3/4 field. I have white oaks to my west in the ditch as I call it. Just to the south is were i killed 2nd most deer on the farm. The tree died this year so I moved.

This spot I call the Rock(big rock near the stand) is like a triangle shape ridge. It is the high point with 3 lower sides to the East, West, and North. South is where it meets the 3/4 bean field(narrow part) and the fence row you see.

Any questions?

Gary,

Looks like a plan to me. Nice piece of earth. Is that a river snaking across the North and East?

Is that river (we call it a Bayou) the one from the "On the River" with Germ segments and behind
you where you killed the Big Doe?

Yes the river wraps around the entire piece

Well what a crappy night

Perfect wind
Perfect weather
Perfect stand, NOT

I saw one Racoon, lOL I can see the three back fields from this stand. Not one deer eating beans or Acorns. So where the flip are they

I did see 4 nice rubs on the way in.

They were in my neighborhood chowing on acorns. I had 9 does and fawns in the yard I was hunting tonight. A doe and 2 fawns were in range but never gave me that perfect shot I need in the Subdivision. Always moving or quartering to me.[:@]

Tho most of the activity was on the other side of the property. I will be in a tree over there next time. It really felt great with the cool temps tonight too. 52* here right now .

Hunting is a fickle mistress, eh Gary? All that anticipation - hell, I've been practicing since April and haven't shot one live critter - I got the itch bad.

I couldn't go tonite b/c the guy whose land I was hunting had a big family emergency.
Murphy's Law: I've made 8 sits since Oct. 1st all on 90 degree + days and now that the
weather is great I'm SOL for the next 5 or 6 days.

Heading back to the family place next weekend (10/20). Going to hunt that spot in my second to last picture. Got the stand set up real well for bow - 3 nice shooting lanes for most directions he chooses coming from that saddle. It has an auxiliary trail cut from a main road, which is usually favorable with
the wind and keeps me from walking down the trail.

Gonna also try to put that climber in the back on that spot I always talk about. Can't wait. Also, my dad is pretty sure he kicked up that big buck I saw last year (nice 7-8) about where I thought he was bedding. We have a new stand close to there (for this reason), and I think I figured out a way to sneak in. This early in the season, if you are close to the dominant buck's bedding area is there anything you might do to try to draw him out? It's too early for sex scents, so I was thinking about a challenge to his turf. Gary, you think I should just be as quiet as possible, right?

I know I'm rambling, but I'm antsy.
