Frank...once again...awesome buck buddy!!!

Rob...thanx alot..im impressed with this team;) good bunch of guys and like last year, seem fully capable of putting bone on the ground!

hopefully im next Saturday morning. i hate to hunt my honey hole again right now...was really lookin for a cold front...but i really dont got anywhere else at home i will have a good shot at a buck and if i dont hunt there someone else very well may...soooo i will be there...lets hope the buck i seen last week, or a bigger one decides to meet me there.

didnt see ANYTHING this evening. i cant figure it out. it was absolutely RAINING acorns. got settled in at 3pm. yaaa gusty, swirling winds...but im ontop of a ridge as high as possible...dont think anything had much of a chance of winding me. hour or 2 later the wind completely died...PERFECT. acorns falling should been like a dinner bell right??

NOTHING....all i seen was a bazillion chipmunks...oh...and one critter that looked like a cross between a squirrel and a groundhog. pretty sure it was a weasle..never seen that in my life...going to look that up now....

hopefully saturday brings somethin my way. im already feeling frustration and its EARLY lol. i just REALLY thought id SEE atleast SOMETHING today...exspecially when it was raining acorns...and im surrounded by thick nasty stuff infront and behind me and the wind was generally East...which blew it to the other end of the ridge towards a grassy, cut gasline i didnt expect anything to come from anyways...one day i will figure these deer out:)

keep at it boys!!!

I went out last night it was very windy early and started dying down late so there wasn't too much deer movement only one little one. I guess I'll just have to hunt more [sigh]:)

well...gunna swap the dull blades outta the muzzys, take me a DDW shower and hit the sack....4am comes quick...and the heat really drains ya!! lol. really hate the heat. but what can ya do??

spent most the day at the new house[:'(] nice house...buck rubs in the back yard:D but man i dont wannnnna move right now!!! urghhh...oh well...life throws ya curve balls...still gotta play the game right?

hopefully tomarrow is good to me. same spot as last saturday...just a few trees over incase he looks up;) hoping he looks up to that other tree actually...that will give me a great shot opprotunity.

taking the rattling antlers and grunt tube...i know its WAY early...but they are setting up their territorys and breaking up bachelor groups right now. my buddys been seeing alot of bucks a couple counties away...every time 2 come in and sparr, they just pour in...im going to try tickling the tips lightly and grunt a couple times...see if i cant make somethin happen. REALLY makes sense for this time of year actually.

got monday and tuesday off school. me and my buddy are pondering the idea of going to his camp sunday night. theres a couple slammers up there and a pretty good number of bucks period. my buddy that scored last week already hung stands up there. i helped him take them down last year..he said i can hunt them if i wish. still pondering that. i dont wanna burn out my honey hole...and dont really got much else to hunt here at home...cant goto my dorm till tuesday because its "break" so the mountains aint soundin all too bad...get away...relax...have some fun with the boys...maybe even shoot some deer...

but hopefully i tag mine in the morning. im realllly hoping for a redemtion shot tomarrow. we will see....we will see

keep at it boys! were doin good!!

close call this morning. same spot as last saturday...just a couple trees away.

730ish i look up and theres a buck coming right at me. YES!!! here we GO!!! kinda high yellow rack..HAS to be him...3 on top...should have brow tines..and if its HIM i know he does...almost stood up and drew and made the shot...when i got a GOOD look at the rack and realized that it was a fair bit smaller than the one i seen last week. still if he was legal (4+, 1+" to a side) i decided i was going to take him. he came within 5 yards. munched on acorns 10yds away. the right side was a main beam with a 2-3 inch point on top...but THAT side looked to have a brow tine [:@] the other side had a tiny bump it looked like. i had to let him pass.

most likely related to the buck i seen last week. same rack shape, same brow tine configuration(the point inward it looks like..) and same yellow rack.

honestly dont know that i will head out this afternoon. going to hit 90 degrees. i hate to burn hunting time...but i hate stinkin my areas up dripping sweat.

buddy cant goto camp...got a dr appointment..so i dont know where i will hunt. going to probably hunt some random spots around here. heard of a biggun that got spotted crossing a road a couple times...with any luck hes using one of my rut spots..hes crossing not far from there. im going to hunt that and see what i see. usually save that for the rut..its a small strip of woods above a 50ft cliff/creek and fields on the other side of the woods...holds does but bucks dont usually LIVE in there...with any luck this biggun is...we will find out maybe monday morning...

think i might go dove hunt or groundhog hunt later on this evening...weather looks better mid next week..lookin forward to it!

Well made it out friday night seen 3 does 1 yearling doe and a fawn, 1 doe and yearling offered shots. Today was way too hot and windy to go sit but tomorrow supposed to be high in mid 60s and the rest of the week highs in the 50s so that is real good.

I saw a doe and a 6 sat'day evening. I practiced drawing on thye buck, and he kept loking over hisshoulder as if another deer was coming, but itgotdark before anything appeared. I was hunting where the poachers have messed me up, but I put my thought stogether on where I figured that they would reroute around the disturbance caused by teh poachers, and sure enough, first time I sit there, I see these 2. I am heading back to Kentucky thursday, and now that I think I am on to them at my property here, it is just a matter of time. Everybody stay at it.Mauser--I know you are next to connect. Lookingforward to seeing the pics and reading the story.

RE: 31-Official team 31 Thread

lol thanx manuman...im trying....but im trying not to burn myself out either...kinda hard to do. for me, hunting in the heat is not natural and is very miserable. ive never had a full body sweat walking to a stand at 5am....till this season. today i was soaked. miserable..i had on the bare minimal clothing too. so i sat there in the dark sweating...then the sweat made me cold...i brought no jacket or anything..i knew it was going to be hot. just didnt expect to get soaked slowly walking 300yds through an open field...i hear relief is on the way....hopefully...

went to a spot i hadnt hunted yet this season. usually save it for the rut being its a little strip of woods that doesnt really hold much deer...but they travel it hard during the rut. word got out about a good buck crossing the road a 1/4-1/2 mile farther down...there aint much down that way at ALL...i figured he was using my spot...he was crossing the road at dark...was seen twice. hes gotta be living on my side of the road...i got one more spot to try for him in the morning i think. gotta talk to my farmer buddy and see what he says...

all i seen this morning was a coyote. i hit my flashlight to get my bearings on my trail..2 beady eyes glowing at me. awww man there goes my hunt..a deer...wait..thats a dog...no...its a yote!! only the second one ive ever seen while hunting. he let me keep the light on him for a half minute at 15yds. i couldnt figure out a way to hold the light AND draw my bow lol...and my release was in the pouch of my climber...if i would had a head lamp, i mighta had a fighting chance....figuring its presence is why i didnt even see doe or anything. pretty sure they wont go into an area they smell a yote....

ohhh well...i dont know if i will go out this evening or not. its already 75 and on its way to 90[:'(] i hate not hunting when i have time...but i hate ruining a spot because i went in pouring sweat all over the place...no matter how slow i go im still gunna sweat...i dont know how you southern boys do it...

Keep it up guys. Keep us posted. We will need some serious bone to win this. I have a feeling that team "stacked" AKA reverse the curse. will be one to contend with seeing that 3/4 of there team is hunting or lives in Illinois/ MO/ wisconsin. how does that work?? no pressure there....have fun hunt hard, enjoy the moment.;)

I have been putting my time in but the weather hasn't been real good. I did take another doe last Friday so I have 2 deer in the freezer and 2 archery buck tags in my pocket so it's time to get serious. Todays high temp 92, that is crazy for the 2nd week of October. We have a little cool front pushingthrough mid week and temps are going to drop into the 60's, I thinkthe action isreally going to start picking up towards the end of the week. I have seen a couple rubs and scrapes popping up in some of my hunting areas but I susspect with the warm daytime temps all of that action is taking place at night. This is the time of year when it starts to get exciting, lets put a couple more on the board.

Nice buck KIDD. Way to go.

Sounds like everyone is having some hot temps. It is starting to cool down here in MN/WI so it is headed your way. I was in San Diego and got back on Friday night at 11:00 pm and it was hotter in MN than CA [:'(]

I will be spending the next two night packing for a Colorado elk hunt. We are leaving Wednesday afternoon. I should be able to get away from the heat up there :D

i REALLY wanted to be out today...but cant swing it. got a speech to work on today for tomarrow...and gotta start studying for an exam on friday. colder weather is HERE! hoping it dont LEAVE lol.

planning to goto my buddies camp this weekend and hunt friday evening and saturday...then hunt here at school monday after class. buddy hung stands to bowhunt and killed his opening day and says i really need to hunt them. i showed him the tree to hang his opening day and he tagged his buck...maybe i will get paid back ;) and helped him remove his stands at camp last year and i never stepped foot in them...so not like im just going there and shooting their deer...hopefully i can make it. parents plan on moving in Sunday nov 3...just like i had it figured. mom already started boxing up stuff that we dont use. said i should come home and do the same with my stuff. i told her not to touch anything and i might not be home lol. really, i keep everything fairly organized and in containers so my room wont be hard..a couple boxes and im done.

need to get away for the weekend..it would be nice...just need to get away from it all...the chaos at home...the crazy EX girlfriend(yep we broke up 2 weeks ago...) just get away from life for a couple days...nothin to worry about except hunting and sitting around the fire at night. heading to camp always makes me feel alot better...not that im NOT feeling good now...just need to get away from it all...

keep on keepin on guys! were doin good! reallllly hoping to get my buck on the ground this weekend...that way i have no worries about moving cutting into my hunting time and school getting in the way etc....life always gets in the way :D

Went out last night seen2 does 2 fawns.

Bought a hand climber today was sick of screwing in steps when I hunt places I don't have stands at.

RE: 31-Official team 31 Thread

wake...i hear ya buddy....those screw in steps and a lock on is more pain than its worth IMO..hung 2 lock ons this year...PIA...gotta remove 5 steps so noone steals them or no kid climbs in and gets hurt and its MY fault...uncomfy compared to my Summit viper...dont feel nearly as safe and my viper....just dont like them...spoiled after using my summit.

final word is in...heading to my buddies camp tomarrow. should be there by 2..on stand by 3 or so hopefully...

getting contradicting weather reports...one calls for a better chance of rain and high winds..the other calls for less wind and less chance of rain  either way its gunna be cold...if its windy, i will hunt the pines or hemlocks or deep in the valley...

cant wait to get away.....gunna be a good time...maybe even kill me a buck! chances are as good as anywhere. buddy seen 5 up there a week or 2 before the season...2 monsters...the other 3 were 14-16 wide shooters...plus who knows how many smaller bucks roam...last year 1 guys seen 11 bucks..some legal some not...killed a nice 8pt. that was rifle season...but they all live and use the area...just hope one walks by me....im pumped....

good luck guys...keep on keepin on!!! be back sunday night!

Came back early from Kentucky. They were having a youth muzzle loader hunt on sat'day and sunday, and didn't feel the need to run around in woods full of 12 year olds with guns!!! Hunted close to home, and saw a small 8 and a doe with a fawn still in full spots!!! Will try again this pm.

wont have it scored till friday at the earliest. im hoping the butcher calls me before then so i can pick it up friday on my way home. i may pick up the head friday no matter what. i just needed to store it somewhere because i dont have a real fridge or freezer here at school...im pretty sure im going to have him mounted...just because it was my first bow kill

RE: 31-Official team 31 Thread

Awesome job mauser!!!!!! You will never forget your first buck with a bow. You have definitly put your time in and earned that buck. I think team 31 is showing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

I finally had a good night in the woods on Friday evening. I had 10 deer in range at various times. I passed on 4 bucks, one was a decent 6pt that would have scored 80 inches or so but I couldn't pull the trigger on him. I ended up taking a doe right before dark after all of the action had subsided. This cooler weather in the NE has picked things up. We are getting real close to that magical time of year when you have a chance at a wallhanger everytime you step into the woods.
