So how does everyone's respective seasons work?
In my part of MN I can get 5 tags, 1 either sex and the other 4are anterless only. Season runs from September 16-December 31. Last year I got 2 does anda decent 8 pointer. I usually try and fill a doe tag as soon aspossible just to get some venison in the freezer and then I start looking for a buck. How about the buck you shoot, are you picky about size? I have gotten a number of younger bucks in years past so in order for me to shoot a buck, it has to beat least a good 8pointer or better.Thats just my choice though and I think everyone has the right to shoot whatever deer makes them happy. Its all about having fun. Some years I think I would be just as satisfied shooting a camera as a bow. |

My season starts Oct. 1 and goes thru Jan. 31, that means our bow season starts before gun season and ends about 2 weeks after gun season closes. I hope that will give me enough time to score a good one. I have a few hot acorn trees just waiting for poppa buck to come and feed. I don't know how you guys feel about it, but it is legal to bait here. I always just throw out some corn and a few mineral blocks, maybe some rice bran in places with little to no acorns. Hopefully we can all score and make a good season. Good Luck Everybody.

Oh and by the way guys, I can't be too choicy where I hunt. This ain't exactly trophy country if you know what I mean.LOL I will do my best to make the first buck count on our team. We are allowed 3 bucks and 3 does, doe days being any day of season as well.

We are allowed two either sex tags and as many AO tags as you want. Last year I shot two does and one 5X4 buck. I will hold out for a larger buck but I am generally not to picky. I just hope to be able to score one for the team and if it is a dandy that's even going to be better.

my season here starts september 16th. With an archery license we get two anterless tags and then our buck tag. We can also buy extra doe tags if we like. First part of season goes all the way til November 19 or 20 somewhere round there when our gun season starts, then bowhunting after the nine day gun season

In MO season starts sept 15. We get two any deer tags and unlimited doe tags. season goes until january 15th with a short break in november for rifle season.
I have 28 straight days of vacation during the peak of season, Oct 20-Nov 17th, and I plan on living in the woods the whole time. Seriously, I hunt in northern MO and we have a small cabin there. I will hunt for the whole time until i get a trophy. |
RE: 17- Team "Autumn Assassins" Official Thread
My season starts on 15 Sept. I get one antlered and then I have to harvest 2 anterless. Then if I have purchased the additional stamp, I can harvest another antlered deer.
Having said all that... last year was not a great year for me. I lost one hunting property (due to sale and construction)and on the other property I saw couple of nice bucks... Missed one and never took the shot on the other (too far and I did not want to give my stand location away). I've got lots of does on film and a couple of nice 8 pointers lurking. So we shall see. RE: 17- Team "Autumn Assassins" Official Thread
Season starts September 30 down here. With my rifle I am normally fairly picky but with the bow it will probably be the first buck over 3 1/2. I use to hunt in the 80's with my bow but as life will be I got busy and this will be my first year back bow hunting. The place that I have for bow hunting is in the Texas Hill Country and loaded with deer. I went down and sat in one of my rifle stands that sits about 100 yards from a bow stand and a feeder. In 1 hour I saw 3 bucks. My buddy was sitting in his stand about 1000 yards away on the other side of a hill and he saw 6 bucks in that same time frame. I doubt the deer will score more than 120 at best but there are lots of them. And don't worry I am not still using the old Stemmler bow from the 80's....LOL. I picked up a Mathews LX a few months ago....
