Well, so much for today. The weather is keeping me down. Called my bud to see what he thought, we were in agreement. Some heavy showers, with breaks probably in between, but 35 mph wind gusts and steady rain on the overnight will make blood trailing tough if we had to. I'll give it a shot mid week, after all, thats what vacation is for. I'll be taking my bow to the shop to get that cam replaced, but it appears that Bowtech sent my shop a different cam system?? I'll be making sure that I get it zeroed in before I leave that shop and hopefully get some practice in to make sure everythings good to go before I hunt with it tho... Worse comes to worse and I'll put the old cam back for the season and just watch it carefully.

RIStrutStopper good luck next week. Sorry to here about the crappy weather, I agree with not going out in it. I've noticed here that if there is a steady wind over 10 - 12mph the deer activty all but stops until after dark.
On another note, I must not have spooked the buck i missed the other to bad here is a pic from a few hours after i missed him in the exact same spot. Plus on a few of the other pics i noticedhe actually has 3 more kickers coming off the back side of his main beam/brow tine. I just wish i could catch up with the 10 point thats on the same property, he would score at least 15-20 inches higher than this one.

The Good Bad and the Ugly last two weeks.
1st= The Good. I had sep up shop monitoring the farm down the road that I can hunt and have seen 5 shooter bucks and captured some good video. I even found out wher 2 of them are sleeping most days.
2nd= The bad. One night while on my daily drive by I noticed a unfamilur vehicle. So a glass the field and notice three guys hanging a stand........AT 6:15 PRIME TIME! One of them was a cousin of the land owner and he invited 2 frst year bowhunters to hunt with him on the property. Ok Ok thats cool and I can not complain we all know where each other will be and the other two can not hunt without the cousin and he is leaving for 30 days in a few days.
3rd; The UGLY. I hired a contractor ( My Cousin)this week while I was gone to kansas City to do a shingle job on my roof. I get a call big problems...3 layers, bad wood, etc. So my 1st weekend of bow season while most likley be spent on the roof this weekend as he is leaving for a job next week.......HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me LORD!
Godd luck to you all this weekend Looks like sombody needs to PRACTICE on this team.....cough cough miss miss!

Nada this afternoon. About 3:15-3:30 I'm climbing a tree in a spot I've seen the deer work thru but I've never hunted there before. I secure the stand, pull up my bow, hang it, start taking ranges with my rangefinder and I catch movement... Broad daylight, 3 does snuck right by me before I even had my stand completely set up. They start feeding about 35 yards past my stand now, on the other side of some trees. I catch a glimpse of a 4th doe now... They started feeding back my way but didn't offer a good shot before they slowly moved off. I figured its early, I usually see a bunch of deer move through that area just before dark, but not tonight. Those were the only 4 deer I saw. I'll be back there on Saturday, then Sunday is the RI opener. Have my spot all picked out, but my buddy who lives there will most likely be stuck on a big gray boat in the pacific... We had to send him andone of my techs out to do a tech assist, they get to take a helo tomorrow from the Naval Air Station... I promise to not shoot all of the deer in his backyard before he gets home next week

The October Lull has struck our thread. I've been able to make it out a few times, but still haven't pulled back the string. I've been seeing deer, but I've been hanging pretty low thus far trying keep my spot hot. There is a nice 8 that I have my eyes on that is probably 3.5 yr. old (120/130ish) and if he gives me the shot I'll take him, but that hasn't happened...yet. I'm planning on doing some mock scrape stuff here in probably a week or week and a half and I'll start hunting pretty hard. Until then, I'll go out a couple more times a week...whatever the weather/wind will permit! Hopefully this cool down will get things movin! Best of luck yall!

The lull really has hit our thread. What has everybody been seeing? I 've been out about 5 times in the last 2 weeks and have not been seeing much for deer activity until about the last 15min of shooting light and then all i'm seeing is does. On the up side i tooka coyote off of my hunting land today with my 22-250 @ 203 yards.

I havent been getting out as much as Id like, and when I do all I see is does, if anything. I was going to give it a shot tomorrow, but the wind is supposed to be bad. Its terrible now. Dont wanna drive 1.5 hrs to swing in a tree... Maybe sunday a little closer to home...

Haven't been able to hunt that much this season due to work. Went Saturday and saw 3 does and 3 fawns. I pulled the card on my Moultrie 2.1 camera and was surprised to see this guy. Looks to be around 125", a decent deer. However, I have 2 of this size already mounted and was hoping to do a little better. I'd have to see him in person to make a better decision. Good Luck to everyone. Rut is getting closer!
