Well my future father and brother in law and Ihave been hunting non stop since last saturday and havent been seeing much. I passed on several does early and drew back ona nice 8 that is alittle bigger than the one I shot. Anyways, we have been questioning tactics, stand placements, scent control, scents, about everything. So friday morning after an uneventfull morning hunt we decided to move one of my latter "ladder"stands about 50 yards away from where it was down into a river/creek bottom because we saw the trails down there were thick along with the cover. I knew it would be difficult down there but something had to change because nothing was working. Friday evening I hunted the stand and saw five does cross the creek dead nuts behind me from my south. I took a shot at one of them but the arrow hit a branch and never hit the mark. With a front moving in and the wind changing directions I told myself to go back there because it would be in my favor (SW to W). Got to the stand way early and sat it out as I normally like to do
. At day break I saw several deer cross the creek alittle ways down from me and behind. At 815 my deer came right down the hill heading my way, from the north. He was coming down with a mission, head down and looking for any does in the thick stuff. The hill he came down has a clear cut so I saw him coming, I drew back and waited. He makes his way into bow range about 20 yards facing me quartering way to. I pick a spot between two trees and let it rip. The arrow hit him well back and alittle high. The arrow popped out and all I saw was blood coming out like a volcano. I waited till 9 got out of my stand and found my arrow. It got about 8 inches of penitration and covered with blood. I look alittle to the right and I found huge puddles of blood. I followed puddle after puddle and found him hunkered down like a cat dead not even 40 yards away from where I shot. For a bad shot, I got lucky and hit the arteryto harvest the fine beast. I dont have my digital camera with me so I have to wait till the film gets back and I will post the pic. My brother in law scored him at 98 3/8. The unique thing is on both g3's he has the acorn tips or pee peetips as some would like to call them but it works for me. Hope you enjoyed the story.... Pics will come shortly!

we'll let the typos slide since you got us some points. hehe.
my gun season is just about over. this is the worst gun season ever! The dnr redid our regulations again this year. 4 of us were deciding if i could shoot another doe. 3 thought I could, 1 thought I couldn't. So, I went out and shot the doe (the one I got last week). I called the DNR just to make sure I was reading it right and they told me that I was legal tagging the doe but now I can't shoot a buck in the zone I hunt 99% of the time. None of us even mentioned this as a possibility as were werereading (and re-reading the regs). I actually have to go to a different area of the state to shoot a buck.the dnr lady said she didn't even understand the regs and she changed her answer several times in the course of the 15 minute call. The only good news is I purchased 40 acres in a zone I can actually tag a buck. I should close on the land in plenty of time to get some hunting in.

That's what I'm talking about, another buck. Keep it up guys, we're doing good. We need three more besides the one I'm going to shoot this year and we'll be in the hunt. Who's stepping up to the plate?

I went out friday night and seen a monster..I grunted him in and he came directly down wind of me and started to circle around but it got too dark before he made it to me. I gun hunted all weekend and seen 6 different bucks in 3 hunts. Im going to be hunting with a friend on his land that has seen 14 different bucks over the weekend. Hopefully I will be able to pattern some bucks for the late season here in MO.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around at all been busy hunting the last month. I finally got my buck on Thursday, Nov. 9. It is nothing huge he scored 85 1/8. I posted the picture in the score card thread.
I had taken a weeks vacation to bow hunt before our gun season started. On the day before I got this one I stayed out all day and hunted and seen 12 different bucks some pretty decents ones also. None of them came close enough for a shot or just didn't present a decent shot. I was sitting in my Double Bull blind on Thursday morning when this one was walking on the trail at 12 yards. I hit him a bit forward and got the top of both lungs.
