7- Team "Dead Balls" Official Thread

Team, I have really bad news. I won't be able to hunt for the next few weeks. I have to go to Hawaii for work. It's a really tough assignment but someone has to go. It's a shame it has to be me staying out there for a week at a nice resort. On the good side, I at least will get to do something I love more then bow hunting and that's big game fishing.
Don't worry though. I have a few days picked out next month to get up to my favorite hunting areas. I got a chance to finally walk one of my areas and was very surprised to see how big the property was. In the past I've always was very Conservative about where I would go. This year someone has cut horse trails next door. I love hunting near horse trails because deer love them and it keeps the deer moving when the riders come through.
Good luck!

fieldmouse, you suck. nothing else to say about that.
Bagged a doe tonight. kind of a weird shot. i spined her but the entrance wound was well below the spine. the broadhead must have deflected off a rib, can't really figure out how. i figured i spined her but when i got to her and saw where the arrow hit i was a little confused. when I gutted her out i saw the broadhead hit the spine from the inside. i was only about 4 feet off the ground and the deer was probably level with me, so i guess it's not too strange that it happened.
anyway, nice to get some meat. i'm going to load up on maple sticks.

Congrats on your doe man great job.. Arrows have a funny way of moving through the body sometimes. Yrs ago I had a deer quarting away from me and my arrow hit right behind the shoulder but came out back in the guts. Somhow it completly bounced back off the inside of the shoulder blade and kept going till it came out far behind from where it went in. Got less then a week till I can hit the woods and I can't wait...lol

While, I'm of playing, oops working just incase my boss sees this, remember the rule for scoring!!!!
7. You must have a pictured posted on the contest page within the Official Score Card thread to enter a deer. The bow must be in the picture and the entire deer must be in the picture, no skull pictures, no rack pictures...the buck, the bow, and yourself must be in the picture.....call me skeptical. This rule will be enforced this year, no exceptions with no apologies.
Iwish you all luck. I can't wait to get back and have colder weather. I scouted a new piece of property yesterday. It has great signs, but loaded with chiggers. It's really just a play spot for me, when I have time to hunt. There are a few nice bucks running around. They have nice racks but probably only go in the 130s maybe a 140 is in there. I will pop one of them if I get a chance. It's one of those areas that sit in the middle of a few bigger properties with very little access for other hunters.

Relax, guys. Let's do simple math. 10 teamates w/ 100 point bucks = 1000 = win.
Take your time, shoot your buck. It's September. I'm hunting in my state because I can. I have very little hopeto truely hit my goals. Come December, shoot the spike. Basically this is warm up. Real deer show up in Novemeber, and they have a lot more on their mind rather then getting killed. We just want to ensure the big boys pop their nut before we turn them into "Dead Balls"!

This sunday season opener here. I will probably be sleeping in and doing an evening sit. Im not going to be pressuring my honey holes until end oct/beginning november. Have a week booked off work for some dark - dark hunts.
