Well Team I had a pretty exciting hunt last evening. With the full moon and all I was thinking of not even going out. But what the heck I had a free evening and this would only be my 3rd time out so I better get out there!
I go to the Observation stand. This is the one I can get to after work without disturbing too much ground. I settle in about 5:15 or so. At 6:00 I got movement coming at me...deer?? small.. must be a yearling...Cool it's a Coyote. (now for you guys who hunt where they are numerous this may be common or almost a nuisance, but it's the first one I've ever seen while on stand in Ohio. I've seen a couple in Pa and even seen them in Ohio while driving, but never from stand). He comes up past me at 60 yards disappears. 10 minutes later he comes back down the same way. I start to smooch my hand like a squealing rabbit, it gets his attention he hangs up at 50 yards..I can't get a shot. I watch him move out into a grassy area and look for mice. Finally he exits the field.
Another 8-10 minutes goes by I catch movement in the same area the yote left the field. Good, maybe he's coming back..no wait, it's a deer! Binoculars up, it's a buck, an 8 point! Heworks his way towards me,right up into my shooting lane at 18 yards, I've already decided that it's too early in the season to take this 80-90 class deer. But he does everything right and comes through my treeline and feeds on the brown soy-beans hanging on the vine. He is so close I can hear him crunching. Now all this is happening in very good light. Finally the buck feeds up the field edge. I can no longer see him. Just as dusk is bearing down, here he comes again right back in front of me and works his way down the other way. I'm hoping he gets out of here now so I can get down and outwithout spooking him. Where I hunt, hundreds of geese fly over at almost dark. As they come over I use the noise they make to climb down and exit the tree line to the open field. It's dark but the full moon makes it light enough to see. Here comes the buck again! down the trail right at me. I hunker down. He walks to within 10 yards to make a long story a little shorter, this buck walks all around me for 20 minutes, all within 10-15 yards. My legs are so cramped from squatting I nearly fall over, all this does is get the buck to move closer. Finally I have to stand up even that doesn't scare him he parralled me all the way through the field. It was strange..very strange.
He originally came in the first time on a perfect wind, he ended up feeding directly downwind of me. In the dark he walk 360 degrees around me, and never scent spooked. I had my Gods Country Camo on and my Scent-lok base layer. By the time I walked to my truck (which I can see form my stand) it was 8:15 What a night! Great Hunt..Weird deer..but great hunt.

GR8, that's an awesome hunt. I wish I had thought of the squealing rabbit smooch this morning and I might have lured some coyotes close to me.
Here's how this morning went: lots of exciting action. First, I was watching two very nice bucks as they took the wrong trail up the hill. About 200 yards from me, they suddenly went on alert and headed back down the hill, at which point 5 coyotes came loping out of the trees. That made every deer in the country stick their ears up and start dancing. The yotes settled on the open hillside to watch for cripples and the deer started banding together and headed toward my hideout. Alas, 18 of them passed by at 60 yards and I took one really blurry picture, which included a very high racked buck. When I was about to give up and leave, this spike moseyed by at 15 yards.

Now, who else had some excitement? Anybody acquire some meat?

I had a good morning as well. I saw 4 ,8 pointers from 8:30 - 11:30--3 of which were good ones, 1 or 2 were in the 100-110" range. I couldn't get a shot at either of them. I did a little adjusting to my location and should be in much better position for whem they return. Saw 2 does as well. The cool weather(35 this morning) had 'em stirring around!

WOW BowhuntinOH, You better get that figured out and dialed in!
I had another nice hunt Saturday evening saw 9 deer..7 doe 1 Button Buck and one ??? Buck. He was following 1 doe and a yearling, the old doe paused to look my way..even though 6 other deer had already passed right by me..when she paused he wheeled and took off..I just saw antler flash. The old doe never spooked..she didn't like something..but she never spooked, Eventually leading her yearling out to fed in the grasses. That wiley buck was gone as soon as she even thought something wasn't right and he didn't return.

Guys just wanted to give you an update, this morning i saw my first shooter buck. I had a beautiful 10pnt (prolly around 115-120inch range) headed straight down the trail towards me. But like big bucks always do he hung up about 50 yards out and turned and walked back the way he came. I'm so depressed about it, I don't think he winded me the (wind was in my face) and i am extremely careful about my scent control and not overhunting the area. I just don't know if he knew i was there or just changed his mind. I hope i see him again, in the mean time I'm gunna take the first adult doe i that gives me a good shot.

I am still out there in the woods. I had a mature shooter 8 ptr about 35 yds away from me this morning, better than a 20" inside spread [8D]. I watched himnot move a muscle for 20+minutes as he surveyedan oak flat from a thicket. Eventually, he followed a little 6 ptr out of the area.I still need a doe re theEAB rules. It's not as though I haven't had does in range, passed on an 18 yd shot at a doe this morning as all she presented was a quartering-on look. Also gave a couple of doespasses last week. One doestood 8 yds faciing directly away and never gave me her shoulder - there was little doubt I could have spined her. Another doegave me a 26 yd standing broadside look, but I was sure she was going to come closer - a basket8 ptrshowed up to hassle her, and off she went...
Sounds like you allcould use someluck; I don't have much left, butI'm sending it your way...
