Well guys, it was 82 degrees yesterday which did a little bit to dull the feeling of hutning in the air... of course, this morning was nice and crisp and fired it up again and Mondaymorning is forcasted for highs in the low 50's... It is going to be a long, long 2 weeks I have a feeling.
No bucks showing up on the game cames yet but does are everywhere as are the spotted ones. The way I figure is this is a travel corridor and it will work very well this fall. I wanted to hunt it last year just wasn't equiped well for it.... This year I am.
Troy, would love to do a Montana bull hunt.. Something I might be able to swing sometime in the near future too as my wife wants to visit out in Montana again and the season she likes best coresponds with hunting season.. . Heck, would love to Elk hunt period. This season is deer season though and I am concentrating on that..

Hope the hunting is going well for you guys out west, us poor guys who still can't hunt back in Indiana, Illinois, Penn and Michigan are being forced to live through your hunting exploits and would love to hear something about what is going on out there for you.
Bigdaddy... You opened a couple days ago right? You been lucky enough to get out yet or have other things tired you up?
Hope you had a god time at the wedding Quick, I know your Saturday was good with ND getting SPANKED by Michigan (Although I doubt you are a Maize and Blue fan) and Penn State winning big too... My mighty Wildkittens (They can't be called cats after loosing to New Hampshire so badly) were even able to beat a MAC team, miracles do happen... Lookign forward to a Friday night fight between Nevada and NU this week. Going tog et ugly for my cats I think, Offense is offensive.
Hearing about a lot of snow out west, we all know what that means.

Yea, I wait for my walk through the door to get my scowl of doom. I went out this year and bought some waders, duck call, goose call, case of shells....... for duck hunting...... Needless to say I will not make it to the marsh. My brother and I have a difference in opinion as of late and just do not see myself having a lot of fun stuck in a boat for hours on end.... one of us will be shot..
Yep, Im still getting the scowl of doom at home for the unused pile of money spent...
Checked the camera today and have some pics. 35mm batteries were dead so I had to pull the camera, I will get it back out tomorrow.
I want to stay out of the area seeing that youth season is on this weekend.
Good luck guys.

AR - Sorry to hear about the feud with your brother. Hopefully you guys can patch things up and it'll be water under the bridge. Just be the bigger person and do what you've gotta do to make things work out.
On the bright side, you don't really need to be duck hunting. You should be focusing primarily on tagging that monster buck forthe XX.Haha j/k
I picked up another treestand lock at Wally World yesterday, which means that I'm free to hang my last stand. I'll probably split my pants b/c I'm down to6 steps, so unless I find a tree with a few limbs on it, I'll be really stretching it. I'm still torn on the location,it seems like there are a million good spots to hang this last stand. Too many places, too little time.

Ain't ha the way it is Quick. My problem is that while I have a climber we don't have a lot of climbing trees which leaves you with lockons... And than, the places that look real, real promising don't have anything but shrub hence the ground blind I bought a few weeks back.. I know I should buy another one or two and set them out but unfortunetly the money tree I planted is only producing pennies and nickels instead of grants and franklins.

AR - thanks for posting the pictures. That's one oddball of a deer.Anyway, I didn't know you were into duck hunting. Do you getout a lot each year? After I tag my buck, I have a buddy from DU who promised to take meduck or goose hunting. I'm reluctant to try it, because I don't need any more hobbies.
Anthony - my buddy bought a groundblind for the same reason - It seems like the scrub brush reaches further into the fields every year, and the leaf cover grows in thicker and thicker. We'll be trying it out a couple nights here and there next month. I still prefer treestands if I can shoe-horn one into the field edge, but sometimes there's just nowhere to hang the blasted thing. My buddy isn't big on heights, so I know he'll really like it.
By the way, I was bummed about NW dropping that one to DI-AA New Hampshire. It looks like both of our teams are hurting from the loss of senior quarterbacks. Basanez was, IMO, one of the best QB's in college football last year. I'm totally shocked that he's not on an NFL roster. They'll get it back together - their recruiting class last year was decent from what I understand, and Sutton is a nice centerpiece for the offense. Keep the faith bro, it happened at Penn State - all it takes is a couple marquee wins, a few players who step up, and the recruits start coming.
I missed all the college games on Saturday, and as bad as I hate UM, I'd have gotten great joy in watching them romp all over the Domers. I heard they ran up the score at the end a bit too, which was nice seeing Weis get a little bit of his own. Penn State will get their shot at redemption this week at Columbus. We'll see what the boys are made of. Even a good showing would make me happy, because frankly, I'm not expecting them to beat the #1 team in the nation.
By the way, I think Troy, Mike, Ryan & Co. have abandoned us until they get home. Can't say I blame 'em - give me a week off work with the wife 2000 miles away anda pocketful of hunting tags and the last thing on my mind is playing on the internet. [8D]

I wouldnt call it running up the score so much... ND was trying to score and big blue forced a fumble (I think it was a fumble and not a pick) and ran it back for a TD... I can't stand Weiss, you think the stories of Parcells and Bellicheks ego are unreal, this guy... Wow...
NU will be as fine as they can be. They will always have a smaller recruiting budget as the audience they get at games is 40k at a max compared to OSU and companies 90-110k. That, and they actually do enforce some standards (Allthough some of the guys I met during the Barnett era were something special as far as sterotypes).. One of these two guys at QB they have (they are both redshirt freshman) will develop into something. the guy who wa going to be the replacement broke his leg in preseason so he is out for the year probably... Oh well. I hope your boys can do something to OSU but dang, that team is good... Real good.
I was going to goose hunting last week but never got around to it. We have about 50-100 geese landing in our fields every day right now.. Most we have ever had. I don't know if it is the moisture or what but they are hitting our clover fields hard...
I like the ground blind idea... Le me fidget a bit more... Iam starting to see a lot of deer, I wonder if the cool weather is driving them more active during the day, also the overcast days I wonder... Just wondering... It is getting close..11 days now I think.

I saw some nice bucks this evening while driving around the hunting areas. Checked out my stands and my game camera this morning, nothing on the camera, but I did see several nice rubs near my stands. Come on October 1st.
