When are the signups for the contest...

Nobody should get mad.... it's hunting... not killing... not everyone has great areas to hunt. The guys in the midwest have an advantage over guys like me up her in Massachuesetts or Connecticut.... But it's all in good fun... i can't wait!

Oh man you guys are still at it??? i thought we figured a way around the whole "NO SHOW" problem last year? if i remember correctly we had some people show up for the first 3 weeks and then after that there was alot of people dissapearing too...
also DC, and Buckeye, and everyone else i havent talked to since my Shoulder injury,
IM BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!
had a lot of rehab to get back up to 65 pounds on the bow and i still have 5 more to get back but i think i will just take it easy for those last 5 pounds. hopefully i will have plenty of time to get back up to 70#'s and enough time to tune everything and get my "trigger finger back"
have we figured out what we are doing for this sign up yet? someone let me know! thanks

The way it fell together last year wasn’t half bad if you think about it. The reserve list or whatever it was called was a success and aside from maybe a few, if someone killed a buck they showed up to enter it. What I remember was total panic at first when teams were signing in to meet and missing a couple. This year we know what to expect and I hope because of that we can stay calm and have team captains’ work with Rob to fill from the reserve. When teams are full it would be wise for captains to give some fantastic pep talk encouraging the members of the “TEAM” to stick to the program and make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

More than anyhting I want to find the buck I shoot last year before someone else loads it in their truck. I would have helped my team last year but its hard to when you wait a half hour and blood trail a *%@#&@ gut pile. Ohh well. I have to think that half the people that didn't report a anything were probably a little emberassed by the unrealistic expectations we put ourselves under. The fact of the matter is not everyone will get a buck. Alot of the guys that signed up didn't really feel the same as if they were with their huntin buddies. Sadly i dont think the problem can be eliminated but we should continue brainstorming with ideas to make the contest better for the future. Here is my reccmnedation.
We need to set up a mandatory check in after the contest. Set up a variable length period after the contest with a mandatory check in. All you have to do is respond telling whether or not you got a deer. Any Participants that do not respond to the thread are not allowed to enter the following year. I realize this can be circumvented by simple re-registering the following year under a new screen name. But that seems like a lot of work if you dont really care anyways.
Someone tweak this idea and add some more restrictions that wont penalize first timers or new comer to the board.
