Nice buck Todd! Congrats!

I hunted over the weekend, and the deer are starting the rut early. Seen over 10 bucks, and almost every one was dogging a doe. I passed up 2 borderline bucks, and the rest were basket-racked 8ptrs. or younger. It was tough to hold back, but season is still early. Come the end of Nov, then the story would be different

Way to put us on the board, Todd!! Nice buck.

I zipped this weekend. I had company staying with us so I missed the morning hunt, which was a drizzly, foggy, and calm morning. By afternoon the wind was picking up. I decided to take advantage of thedamp leaves and covering noise from the windand took the long way to my stand, playing the wind for some stalking/scouting. Saw some goodsign and an idea for a newstand location but that wasall. After I had been in my stand (the one way up high)for about 30-40 minutes the windbecame toostrong for me to stay aloft. I decided to stalk my way back down to another stand at a lower elevation. The wind kept picking up (seemed like 40 - 50 mph) and temperature dropped. I ended up hunting on the ground and seeing nothing.

Not sure how much more bowhunting I'm going to get in this season. I have company again this weekend (everyone wants to visit you when you live in the mountains during the fall) and blackpowder comes in the following weekend, then gun. Sorry guys but I'm not a bowhunting only purist like some on this board. Haven't found gun to be so easy that I've forsaken it. Around where I hunt it's close quarter shots even with a gun. I've never had more than a hundred yard shot and use open sights. I may be getting in one or two days in the late season though.

Hey Guys,

I will be leaving for Wyoming - (4) Day Hunt. I will be going with Table Mt. Outfitters. I will let you know how the hunt goes. Good Luck! I promise to score my deer when I get back. Lets get some more deer on the ground!

Good luck in Wyoming Todd. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I'm heading out to Western Kansas on Mon. 31st. I will be gone for 5 days. It's tough hunting since everything is pretty flat and open, but I always see a lot of nice ones. There isabout a50/50 mixture of Whitetails and Mulies, so if a nice mulie comes by, it's going down. It'll add up just as good.

Went out Saturday morning. Wind was perfect. Had two does within 40 yards for 15 minutes while I was on the ground walking in. Got to draw on the first doe and held it for over a minute but she was just outside of my comfort zone. Was able to let down without startling either one of them. They eventually walked off. No bucks cited.

Hey, guys I have been hunting a ton and was lucky enough to put down another really nice buck. Take a look. How is everyone else doing? Things are really starting to heat up. I have really been seeing some monsters.

Its been really warm and windy here, haven't been out much lately.

Awesome buck there Todd.

I'm going to try and get out this weekend then rifle season starts. Thanksgiving weekend should still be good, maybe catch the end of the rut.

Muzzleloader (gasp) season starts tomorrow in some areas of VA and I'm going to be hunting with that for a while. I probably won't be doing anymore bow hunting until Dec. Hope everyone else does well.
