Actually it is very funny to me I am relaxed, but in the same breath excited. I was under a HUGE amount of stress in the last 8-10 months (Arrow knows)and Thursday one of the big stressors was done. I have not felt this at ease or relaxedin a loooooong time. I can't wait to leave Sunday and I have a ton of things to do today, but it is all good!!!! Monday morning is going to be a blast literally!

Guys, I hope my luck doesn't go your way. Perfect morning after a brief rain. Birds pitched down and went away so I followed. I called, they'd gobble then walk away. This went on for about an hour and 3/4 of a mile jaunt. (Those birds sure cover alot more ground than I thought). Caught up to a group of 2 jakes 6 hens and 5 toms. The jakes came into 25 yards but the toms would just not come in. By the time I realized they were heading away it was too late to put a shot on the jakes. Never could catch back up to the group. Seen a few more toms struttin with hens, but they were in the middle of pasture or crop fields. Either they'd see me and take off or they were happy to have the hens already and didn't need to come to the call. I'm just gonna go beat myself with a cow pattie or something. Frustration definately setting in!!

well, I'm sorry to dissapoint you all, but i didnt get one this week.. They just were not gobbling at all anywhere. We were in the woods from 5 in the morning till 745 at night with no luck. We had some really cool things happen to us though.. we actually had hens and jakes get up and fly to our calling.. but the tom just wouldnt come. I did not want to shoot a Jake for the same reason as QDM- let him go so he can grow.. these Jakes were only yearlings i think because they didn't even have an inch of beard on them.. Oh, on the way back to the truck, just as we got out of the woods, there were 3 toms strutting in the middle of the road so we put on a stalk with no luck.. they were some HUGE TOMS! their beards were about 2 inches from the ground and 2 out of the 3 had double beards.. so, it was an extremely fun hunt and i have another tag for 5th weekhere in WI and I will hopefully get one then!

'll have to make it happen another day. Got to our spot about 5:40, turkeys were gobbling at 6 am. Didn't hear the birds that I thought I would but we heard a few. Set up on 2 gobbling like crazy, UNTIL the hens started pitching out of the trees. It looked like a flock of black birds.Needless to say those birds shut-up and done their business. So we saw 4 more in a field, set up the decoys and started calling. They were coming to investigate what was there and when they were about 70 yards 2 coyotes stampeed the flock and that was done. Sooo we walked around from field to field and spotted 3 longbeards. Set up and they came to us, my wife was going to shoot first, she hasn't ever killed a gobbler so she had first crack. They split up and 2 were in front of us at about 60 yards. She was looking at those birds I was looking at the one that was 35 yards to our left. I counldn't shoot and she didn't see the one I was looking at so no shot. The other 2 gobbled a couple of times but shut up and left. By then it was about 12:30 and we left. Going to hit again Friday and the rest of the weekend.

Keep at em guys. Fire and I went after one this morning. We had some action. The birds just didnt cooperate. Its like the Tom had a range finder and just stayed out of range. It was tough this morning. We even had 2 hens at 30 yards and he still didnt come to us.

Hey guys scored one this morning. Man the wind was crazy but he gobbled like he was supposed to. Shot him at 14 steps giving my hen decoy the stink eye. I'll get the pictures downloaded sometime today hopefully.

Turkey's weight: lbs. oz.

Spur length Right: in.Left: in.

Beard length in.

Your score is 24 + 10 + 12.5 + 20 = 66.5

RE: Team 2 Thread

Well guys, a MO gobbler made a mistake this morning. Shot him at 7:45. He gobbled great on the roost but after fly down he shut up. At about 7 he fired up again and i was able to call him across the feild i was in. He came in to my decoys at 25 yards, i shot and somehow missed, he started to run so i pumped another one in and rolled him at 40 yards. My biggest bird to date.
species: eastern
weight: 25lbs
left spur: 1 in
right spur:1.25in
beard: 10.5 in
Your score is 25 + 12.5 + 10 + 21 = 68.5
