Not this week either! Slept in a little since the forecast was 100% rain from hours 4 to 7. Guess what no rain. A little drizzle so when I got down to my spot (8:15) they were out in the fields where I park. So it was more a chase game that I lost. Maybe they knew it to cause I didn't hear 1 bird making any noise.

I am on the board, killed a nice bird this morning. 23 lbs, 11 inch beard, both spurs 3/4". Total 60. Spurs a little lacking but a nice bird.

Ok I have a way to mess up a hunt that I believe has NEVER happened to anyone before. OK I get the the horse farm this morning and the owner let about 15 horses into the pasture I am hunting. They were there yesterday and so I was aware of them. I get there at dawn and am walking across tthe pasture when the see me and being it is darl they and a little jumpy and head for the barn...I thought..Anyway I start walking again and they line up like they are playing football and start walking toward me. They are jumpy but appraoch...we seem to make freinds and I start walking toward the end of the pasture I want to hunt. The horse head b ack toward the barn...or at least they acted that way...I set my dekes up and settle down to hunt a turkey. I hear the horses coming my way, but the move past me to where I have the dekes set up. They start sniffing them, hitting them with their nose and spinning them around. I jump up and they scatter. I re-adjust the dekes and sit back down...here come the horses....again they play with the dekes...I jump up and they run off a second time. You guess it I set the dekes back up and here they come again...this time one of the horses thinks he will grab my deke and run off with it....I jump up again and the horse drops my deke...I decide to go deke-less. after awhile the horses move behind to my left and wander around....I decide it is time to move spots and do....Long story no bird today.....But I will never forget the deke-theiving horse..

Nice bird Arrow! I'm about ready to start pulling what hair I have left out. Heard some this morning go right around me. Never did see em. Did have a bunch of deer close so that is just putting me back in deer mode. Guess I'll keep trying til the season ends. Maybe a late morning to early evening hunt may be the key

Really blew it today. Went out around noon. Figured I'd let them get their morning business done first. Got to my hunting spot and got geared up. Started walking through the cut corn and just as I came over the top of the hill I seen 2 birds where I had planned on sitting. So I backed down a few feet and went straight over the fenceline. Set up my freshly painted Pretty Boy(painted red over the white neck) and then hit the box call. Nothing! Tried the mouth call and they sounded off about 30 yards behind me. I was ready. 1 (guessing 9 inch beard)came in on a b-line for the decoy. Instead of me waiting for him to cross the path my gun was aiming I panicked/excitement/cause I'm stupid, I tried to swing. He seen me and bolted and when I fired I ruffled a few feathers but I knew I was above him. Pretty sure I pulled my cheek from the gun. Then I seen the other flying off the other way. Just the anticipation of not getting a bird for the last 2 years I think played a part in this, but my inability of self control I think over-whelmed me. TRY AGAIN next week.

What a morning hunt I had and still no darn bird. I was 50 yards from one on the roost. He went the other way, then later had 2 more birds gobbling 60 yards away. Couldnt see em the woods are too thick. Then one of them went behind me at 40 yards spitting and drumming. Darn turkeys...:D

Well this was the last weekend of the MO season. Just about killed another one sat. I was actually driving home and spooked 3 right by the road. I saw them go toward this feild, so i decided to go down the road a little ways go into the feild and cut them off. Well to make a long story short i called one in and instead of coming in right in front of me he came in all the way to my left. So i started slowly turning and about the time i got on him he saw something he didnt like and he spooked. I did get a shot off but it was a clean miss. Despite that i had a great season. I killed my biggest bird ever this season. And i was able to help my buddy kill his first turkeyever. Im already looking foward to next year:)

Tag StirFry....I have to fry the MO tags they are plastic like.....I'll throw a little crow in too...not old crow, but crow. Sorry I couldn't help the flockers...Couldn't get a break all season. I saw 5 toms all in MO day 2. Indiana I had gobbles, but none came close. I busted one off the roost and saw one in the rain don't count those as seeing toms since that were mistakes. The roosted bird never gobbled at the owl hoot. Yesterday I had two hens hang with my dekes for 1.5 hrs...no toms. i quit calling and figured they would bring them in...nope. I'd like to say it was the weather, low poult populations a few years again or even krama.....can't I just didn't get the job done. Sorry teammates!

Maybe so, but man it stinks putting in 16 out 21 posible hunting days (Including thos ein MO) and come up 100% empty....That is hard to explain to the wife and kids LOL..Yeah I spent $700 to go to MO and who knows how much here and get three pretty tags. Man....You understand the frustration Kenny. I love this stuff, but it is hard to justify the time when the bottom falls out....The other part had to be not getting a bird with the gun and all the emotional attachments that went with it.
Off topic, you think I could have killed that monster with a Tom Deke that morning????Just curious to what you think he'd have done different? Be safe!!!

It may have helped Fire the Tom decoy. I have to agree that Tom was a nice one. I wish we had that hunt all over again. To be honest I have never seen a Tom hang up like he did. I have never seen a tom go into the corner of the woods and strut. Usuallyhe is strutting in the fields showing his stuff off. But he was back and forth so many times on that point. That was a stubborn bird.

This season was one of the crappiest seasons I've hunted in a while. With a shortage of gobbling turkeys and the crappy weather it really made it tough. I thought the last 2 weeks of Mo season would be good , but man was i wrong. Well there is always next year. We did what we could do.

I would have liked to have been in a different blind the second day though; not in a spot where a bird had been smacked down already. All in all a great season and a lot of fun and I got to meet MO....can't ask for much more...A little but not too much :)

This is the last weekend here. Gonna try to see if I can't pull one out to finish this very disappointing season. If not, I'll focus on the deer season that starts in 3 1/2 months!! Kinda in deer mode already;)

There's a big ZERO behind my name this year!!:( Had some opportunities but couldn't seal the deal. Guess the focus turns to deer and next spring turkey.

Hey guys. again, im sorry I didnt get a bird. just alot of bad luck I suppose.. however, the afternoon of first week here in WI when I went back to school, my dad managed to get a gobbler. It wasnt the biggest bird in the woods, but its his first in over 15 years. So I was super proud of him. as his 51st birthday present, I mounted it up for him what do you guys think? Sorry for the bad backround.. i hung it on a nail we had on our garage to take pictures..
