Needed, a trigger assembly for a 290 Win.
Any Ideas where a person might find one, A friend of mine has one and it will fire when it is on safe, I think it is going to take a complete replacement of the whole assembly, Also I think there are 3 or 4 models that will work but not sure. Its an older gun and I don't want to have to buy a new one if I don't have to.

Strut,
Do you live in Eastern Missery ?(that's what I refer to Mizzou). There's a gunshop in Harvester MO. that does Win. warranty and recall repairs.I can't remember the name, my fading memory thinks it's Nu-Line guns. A friend of mine took his Model 100 up there a fews years back and they fixed it for free. You might give them a call.
You still giving us Libs hell on the political forum?

RE: Needed, a trigger assembly for a 290 Win.
Rem I live in south central Mo, near Alton. I have never saw a gun do like this one, as long as its not cocked the trigger and safety work perfectly, but when you pull the bolt back and cock it it allows the trigger to have enough play to be pulled, I don't know if someone has fooled with it trying to change the pull on it or what, but I don't see anyway of fixing it except replaceing it.
Thanks for the reply, I will see if I can run them down.
P.S. About the politics forum, just when I have a chance is all, come on back over and join us, I have kind of missed your posting, its boring without a lib or 2 around to argue with <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Needed, a trigger assembly for a 290 Win.
Halcon all I have done is take the trigger assembly out, I'm about afraid to take it all apart since its not mine, I have been known to have some spare parts on things when I get them re-assembled LOL.
The best I can tell something is either wore or bent just a little that lets the trigger pull once it is cocked. Before you cock it the trigger is firm with no movement at all, as you bring the bolt back the trigger raises just a little away from the crossbolt safety, just enough to allow it to fire, Thats the reason I think it has been tinkered with, don't look to me like the sear is catching enough to keep it from firing once it is cocked. Thanks for the help fellows.
