Default Pine straw

I have a bunch of dead pine straw in my yard. It is brown right now. If I rake it up and put it in a container with my hunting clothes, will it take the scent off? Will the dead stuff work?

I would wash the clothes in a scent free detergent such as Sport Wash and then put everything in the container.

Are you talking about pine needles? They will not take any scent away, they act as a cover scent only. I would smell them and if they are potent then yes they will work. I would put fresh pine branches in there for optimal performance.
