hawkins rifle
im thinking about buying one from cabelas.one that you build yourself.i think it would be fun to do.i dont know if it would be a good gun or just hang on the wall.do any of you guys know anything about these guns.thank you.oh im thinking about getting the 45 cal.

Cabela's rifles are made by Investarms. Investarms and Lyman are basically the same company. Their rifles are good quality. A friend of mine shoots a Cabela's Hawkins in .54 caliber and it floors the deer. As for the .45 caliber, in a traditional rifle I tend to migrate to the largest caliber I can, for hunting reasons. For target shooting the smaller caliber would be fine. And believe me, a .45 can take deer. You just have to adjust your distance to target.
