Default RE: Drives vs. Stand hunting

Personally speaking, from my vast experience, I've harvested more deer from a stand than from a drive.

I like stand hunting better but I have never done a deer drive.

every buck ive killed so far except one has been on a "drive" i say it like that because i wasw stand hunting at the time ive intercepted bucks from other peoples drives and ive had people jump them on there way back for lunch while i was sticking it out i know a guy who dotn get up till nine the first morning and gets in his stand at ten because so many people will jump them and he kills a nice one every year ive killed two bucks from real drives one on a 8 man and one on a two man i prefer two man drives because they dont spook the deer as much one guys still hunts and teh other guy waits where the deer will try to sneak out the only problem youll face is deer sneakin back behind you they love to do it i prefer stand hunting whenever i can tho it WAYYYYY more fun

I like stand hunting better. I think it can be more effective than drives.

well theres many variables for each
DRIVES:
if the area has been heavily hunted it wil be empty
- if the area is realy thick , you cannot see well enough to get a shot off onthe drive
- and somtimes the only way u see a big buck is when u walk right up on his bed VS sitting in a tree and waiting for him to come to you,,
STAND:
- its quieter and keeps the deer in a more relaxed mood and not soo touchy as if they are getting pushed every day
- and during a drive chances are the deer is gonna come buy you going ape **** and witha bow its hard to get a running shot off,
so unless u got a Rifle its hard to succesfully do a ARCHERy deer drive

I've had more luck with Stand hunting. Drives just don't seem to work where I hunt.

I think stand hunting is more effect. But i also love deer drives because they are so much fun because you usually see a lot more deer, but all of your shots are usually running.
