Hunting and fishing had never occurred to me while growing up. My husband taught me to shoot, hunt, and fish.

We don't sit, we stalk them. That is if you're talking about deer. Obviously you can't sit and hunt rabbits which we do a lot. We do find a spot and look wait for woodchucks though, which are very good eating.

On the hunt where I got my first deer, we were crawling through some brush and my hair came loose and got full of mud and briars. (That's a problem because my hair goes to well below my knees.) But I got my deer and Mama managed to get the briars out of my hair.

We spend a lot more time in the woods scouting than we do actually hunting. That can be a great way to spend a day-make a picnic out of it. Just finding deer or the place where rabbits and woodchucks hang out is a kick.

Girls vary in size, but chances are a girl will be smaller than her boyfriend/husband with less upper body strength. So you need to make sure she has a lighter bow and a gun with a recoil that doesn't hurt.

I'm really, really small so my husband made sure that I was properly equipped for successful shooting and hunting. So it's always been great fun for me.
