(Not wanting to get off topic, but my mom took me to Japan when I was ten to get my eyelids done. But we just went and came back, didn't really get to see much. They told her she has an American accent. I kid her about that once in a while when I want to annoy her.)

Is everyone too busy flirting to realize that Hawaii isn't a foreign country?
I've never been outside of the states. Had many opportunties through old boyfriends, but turned them all down. I'm fluent in French and speak a bit of German, but have no desire to visit either country except to tour WWII battlefields, and that isn't enough to drive me to go. Not only do I hate to fly, I hate yuppies who tour to every country in Europe, Africa, etc. and expect THEM to all speak English. Hello? You're in THEIR country moron. You should be speaking THEIR language. Wasn't prepared to learn it? Don't go.

Yep, Hawaii is one of the states. A survey done a while ago found that many, many people didn't know that New Mexico is a state.
On a less serious note, my husband always says he has been to four foreign countries, Japan and Korea, (while in the Army), Canada, and Texas.
Sometimes he adds Detroit to that list.
