Planting rye grass is what a bunch of people use around here. It grows well in the winter. Clover's also good but it can run kinda high on the price range.

Try planting Biologic. Not only will the food plot attract the deer and other wild life it will hold them. Biologic has the minerals a deer needs for strong healthy antler mounts and healthy bodies. Deer love it. And yo uwill nto have to plant it every year it will grow back and in late fall you can even harvest it and feed it to your cows or horses.
