I don't think that anyone should try to shoot a deer with a .410. It just doesn't have enough power to get it done right. Oh, it would probably kill a deer, but I wouldn't take the chance of just wounding it and having to track it for miles.

I would try to use a least a 20ga shotgun for deer.

Its illegal here so you may want to check up on it in your area, but yeah it would kill a deer. Its all about shot placement and knowing your distance. A deer shot in the vitals with a .410 is just as dead as one shot with a 12 gauge. I use a 12 gauge myself because you've got more power and you don't have to make a "perfect shot" If you worry about the kick of the gun your using though you wont be accurate and accuracy is way more imporant than power.

winchester does makke .410 slugs so it al matters on how far you will be shooting and what kind of cover it will be in. Good luck

just practice and now your limitations and then a .410 could come as deadly as a .12 GA

New England Firearms makes a gun call the Ultra Slug Hunter that fires 20 ga rifled slugs and comes with a scope. One of the best slug guns ever. I have the Tracker II which has the rifled slug barrel. No scope but the sight will do just fine.
