hey everyone! im new at bowhunting! i have been to many bow tournaments and win first place but i have never been actual bowhunting. I'm hoping i can go this season with my cousin and before i do go, i wanna get yall's advice since you have done this before. Tell me the truth, is bowhunting hard? I have heard different things from different people and so now i want your advice. Help me out and maybe i will kill a buck bowhunting for the first time. Bye everybody.

First off, welcome. If you head up to the Bowhunting forum, you will learn a ton of info. There is a definite learning curve for bowhunting, but seeing as how you have done well in competitions, I think the shooting aspect won't ve a problem for you. The other half of bowhunting deals with getting in the woods, scouting, stand placement, tuning broadheads, and so much more. My best suggestion is go up to the bowhunting forum and start reading, there is a ton of great info. And if you don't understand something, ask a question...people will be more than happy to help you out. In addition, I would recommend going to a local archery proshop and talk to them as well. They will be able to help you out with a lot more of the specifics for your area. Good Luck,

I agreeit sounds like you have the shooting part down. To tell you the truth i would sayyes bowhunting is hard. There are so many things that can go wrong with a deer bein only 20 yds from you. Bowhunting is also the best type of hunting in my oppion. I would also say go to the bowhunting forms and jus read. When you start huntin you are proably goin make some mistakes which is very normal you have to make mistakes so you can learn from them and be a better hunter. belive me there is no drug or any alcohol that can make you feel the way you feel after you arrow your first deer. bowhunting can be pretty hard i guess. gettin a buck the first year won't be too easy either. if you are hunting from a stand then do all the scouting and whatever but i would make sure to leave the woods for about 3 months before u go in hunting. it sounds like u are a pretty good shooter but with a big buck it might be totally different. if u are doing spot and stalk, whichmight beeasier, just make sure to have the proper gear. good luck

bowhunting trumps everything as far as adrenaline rush goes. i've done a lot of stuff(excluding drugs), and nothing has touched it. when i shot my first buck with stick and string, i couldnt climb out of a ladder stand for a half hour because i was shaking so bad. it's fun. just go to the bowhunting forum, you'll learn a lot. ask a lot of questions too. good luck!
